Every time he would show a card he would walk up and put it real close to my face and ask me if I know that number. He called me 50 Cent more than once. I was the butt of all the jokes that night. • @Klamageddon
      @Klamageddon Před rokem +4

      Yeah, it's kinda weird, because there's only really one trick here which is controlling the three. We see him give the 20 to the guy who goes off and puts it in the modified card (then gives it to him as the elephant), like that part is all so obvious that it feels like part of the joke. Likewise him hiding the deck behind the nachos is very clearly telegraphing shenanigans.
      It's the manic bizarre performance of it that's the show, not the misdirection. And like, it's amazing! I want to see more of that, that's not at all a criticism. But it can't possibly be an element he's trying to fool them with. So it ends up just being a question of, how does he control the three to hand it off in the first place. There are so many ways to accomplish that, it seems odd to think you'd fool Teller with that alone, and he knows them both really well. He can't possibly be actually trying to fool them here, can he?
      I think, honestly, the publicity he gets from this (deservedly!) is probably the main reason for it. Unless there's some other small element that's hard to do that I'm missing?
      Either way, one of the best acts I've seen on this show.

    Alyson picking and signing a 3 of clubs was a soft force, and a pretty ballsy choice. Penn and Teller use the 3 of clubs as their iconic card for whenever they do that. Whenever someone picks a card, any card, that card is always 3 of clubs. Signing made it not matter, but still cool to see the reference.

      I don't think it was actually a force, just coincidence. When they let you stop or keep going it's usually to show it's not a force. That said, he slipped the card out and put a sticker on the back, and having her count out the cards to verify one was missing was probably a bad move

Even without fancy sleights, it's very simple to do using rough and smooth as long as you can convince them to keep going. And if not, no biggie--either it was just a wink and it's ok if the card ends up different, or if it is important that it be the 3 of clubs he just DOES MORE NONSENSE and she ends up with that card anyway. (I mean can you imagine adding multiple outs on top of a trick like this? You'd never be able to guess that it was happening.)

      LOL......bro, piff isn't there to win the trophy. Piff already won something that is far greater than the trophy - which is the respect of penn and teller, plus his own damned show in vegas. THE ONLY REASON piff still comes on the show is because he is INVITED - penn and teller have invested a lot of money into Piff, they bring him on to give him some TV time, and to fill some time in the show.
      One of the reasons Penn and Teller like Piff so much is because he came on the show NOT TRYING TO WIN, but just trying to show off his act. Piff knew his act was golden without even fooling anybody..... his first time on Fool Us was mostly just a way for him to get noticed, not to win.

P&T really are not in on the tricks, only the producers know and the producers judge whether P&T guess enough of the trick correctly or not based on listening to the conversation between them (which the audience doesnt hear)
      While yes they made the show to showcase talent, the actual competition is still real even if it's intended to be just playful between friends/colleagues.
      I do wish they would make that more clear in the show itself, but Penn has talked about it extensively in podcasts and interviews.

      @@Vincent_Beers That stated, there ARE camera tricks for some of the magicians when they appear on other shows. America's Got Talent, in example, has been proven to photo-edit magician performances prior to airing to make tricks harder to catch (see Captain Disillusion's video on The Magic Of Will Tsai for an example). And that show bills itself as legitimate. (They also tell the performers what things TO perform, like what songs to sing etc, but that's another animal). So people assuming that camera tricks would be present here as well aren't being unfair since it's the norm in this medium.
