In Spain we’ve seen Juan Tamariz on TV for decades. He’s sooooo funny, because not only he’s a magician, but a great actor. He’s the best card magician and the best entertainer, his tricks seem so simple and so impossible at the same time.

In Spain Juan Tamariz is very well known and appreciated. I've been as espectator in one of his shows a couple of years ago. At one moment he was doing a trick with some cards. A camera was showing in a giant screen a very close view of his hands. He was moving the cards very very slowly. All of us saw how he, apparently, bypassed the card he should be moving (the one that he asked us to follow from the beginning and that we all thought we didn't miss from our sight at any moment) and moved another card instead. He stopped and said : "What? Do you think I bypassed this card? " and then proceed to show us the card...and it wasn't the one that everybody thought it was. He is a master at deceiving till the point that he has written books on how to control the audience. And it is known that the CIA has used some of his techniques. And he is also funny as Hell!

So many memories came to my mind about when I was a child watching him on TV with my family. Then I really liked magic because of him. His personality, entertaining and with that sense of humor, very chaotic but funny and kind at the same time. He's a really good storyteller, he knows how to catch everyone's attention with those stories that doesn't make magic boring just getting a card, he makes a story about seasons, about betting for a card, predicting future, always something different and fun to watch. That is entertaining. When we were kids we were always playing that imaginary violin he plays at the end of his tricks. I didn't know he was in English shows too. Happy to see him and have a laugh again with this video. Thank you for sharing 😊

In it he taught the very principles of "magic", but also magic history, juggling, papyrus, magic psicology, misdirection... etc. I still have it downstairs. This was before the internet, and it was very detailed for the time. Many many years later I had the privilege of watching him perform live in a 90 minute close up routine, along with some othe magic that was not his forte but still performed convincingly. OMG! CZcams suggested me this video just a few minutes ago. What a great chilhood memories with magician Juan Tamariz! He was often invited to prime tv shows here in Chile in the 80s and 90s, so we know him very well. He's just wonderful, we love him

I've seen him twice in theatre, both helping him in stage, and the craziest thing I've seen is to guess a card THOUGHT by someone that was phoned by somebody from crowd. Amazing! I'm an amateur magician and I know how he does it, but it's still astonishing.

I have been a practitioner of Card Magic for just over 21 years. I'm 35 and have not learned anything new in a decade. Now I'm rediscovering my passion for learning new material, refining my skills and connecting with people and I only just started watching Chris Ramsey but I really appreciate the hard work and passion that comes through these videos!
Before today I have never heard of this Spanish magician and after only the first 2 tricks in the video, it's clear to me I have a LOT to learn.
One question I have been wrestling with recently since taking magic up again is about personas.
It's clear that Juan has an excellent persona while he preforms!
I read somewhere that all the best magicians have a persona but I'm unsure of how to approach finding mine as for the last 21 years, I have truly been myself while preforming. I wasn't trying to be something I'm not. I'm genuine, funny, quick witted and kind.
I'm worried if I start trying to make a persona now, I might come across as fake or trying too hard.
And people Will pick up on that.
    How should I approach this?

I am not a magician. But have been watching Tamariz for decades on TV. for many 80s and 90s kids here in Spain he was a hero we watched with family weekly.
he has been interviewed about that same topic maybe that can be interested for you.
Whatever you choose to be, I recommend. you be like tamari humble and gentle with kids and funny. I am sure you will find out. something. that resonates with you.

I think the level is perfect for someone like me, I am no magician but have a basic understanding of magic, and your videos perfect explain how the many levels, the performance, the psychology, the mechanics of the trick come together to create the perfect performance.

The amazing Juan Tamariz! I never enjoyed anyone's performance so much as I enjoyed Juan Tamariz. The best years of my life. I have really good memories back then in Spain, he takes me back in time playing that imaginary violin . Being always so humble, smiling all the time, extravagant looking, almost like a fool, but smart at the same time, and what's most important, amazing and making everybody have a real good time, either at home or right there. He really improved my life by making me happy!

I enjoyed this video, and first became aware of Juan Tamariz in the video shown just before Dani DaOrtiz did his trick on “Fool Us”.
I also thoroughly enjoyed the video you did when you went to the Magic convention (was it Blackpool?) overseas. Your reaction to some of the tricks you saw was cool, and your performance with the other magicians in the open-air theater was AWESOME!
I’ve had magic as a hobby since I was 9, had my first tricks sold to me by the “Coney Island Fakir”, Al Flosso, and at 65, I still enjoy learning more and honing my not-so-great skills!
    Thanks for what you do!!!

Love the facts of how fluid memory is. As ex military psych dude it is fascinating how much manipulation of memories occurs. The phrase I’ve used for a long time is the more you visit a memory the more you alter it. You can go as far as implanting memories if you are not careful during interviews.

I found your video ramdomly and I have enjoyed so much. I'm from Spain and it makes me remember the times Juan appears on TV and everybody was excited. A promise that something crazy and funny is going to happen. He was capable to make smile the childs and the grandma of every family. He was a genius but also a beloved caracter. And I pretty sure he can speak a better English, but he use thath jumpy accent and his limitations with the languaje as another tool. In Spanish he used to talk very quickly, make some games with words, invent some words for a trick, or produce confusion (for example, forgeting and confusing the names of the persons he was playin the trick at the table, but in a rescpectful and so funny way). Is nice to acces to this and find people who appreciate him, his crazy hair, and his invisible violin.

For magicians: as a spectator the only thing that stood out to me in the "all black card reveal" trick was when he flashed the deck towards the end there were a bunch of consecutive black cards in the deck making that all red card change seem a bit more odd than magical at the end but otherwise 👏🏾
