After 4 months of ownership, I am not disappointed in the CSC RX4. Honest review of why I love it with some off-road riding footage to go along with it.

Just rode a Rx3 in the Himalayas for two weeks. Approx 2k off road. Fantastic. Other European bikes had problems. Rx, not one. Will be buying an RX4 in the US.
Just bought an RX3 2017 with 15000 miles ok it, pretty happy with it. have done 2 small tours so far. Dropped the bike multiple times off road the body still doesn't shake or make noise. The suspension could be better but still loving the bike considering what it costs.
I really appreciate your thoughts on the RX4, nice watching the trail ride as you share your ideas. I have ridden motorcycles for 46 years and never wore out one but, did replace worn parts or rebuilt as needed. Riding to enjoy, when going too fast ( you were asked about top speed who cares and who wants that ticket ) you have to concentrate on not crashing rather then looking at the surroundings. I knew the day would come when China's products would become par with the world. My son who is older ( not high school age and works in the oil fields) Now wants to ride, I just don't have a small bike for him, so when I came across this bike ....winner winner chicken dinner. Great video!

@@jimenagulla9081 Have you read the articles on engine failures.. bad head gastkets on 390s.. also wheels cracking super easy. It's not really a ktm they are Indina Bajaj. Granted I'm sure they are at least as good as these.
Thank you for a solid review of this bike. I have a 2018 klr650 i love and am trying to find a dual sport bike my wife can touch the ground on. The Royal enfield himalayan she's on the balls of her feet which is fine but the RX4 has a much more appealing appearance plus the seat height is like 1/2 lower than the Himalayan. I do wish CSC had local dealers for parts availability like Royal enfield.
You're welcome. Happy to be one of the first to review the bike. The Himalayan is a solid bike, and like you said, parts can be obtained locally. However, know that CSC does have a full warehouse of all parts for their bikes and ship them to you quickly (under a 6 business days after the request is sent)
My friend had to wait 4 months, yes for months under warranty too for a replacement gas tank for his Royal Enfield because it was leaking. What good are dealers without parts? CSC says they can ship out parts stocked in California in a day or two
People make comments when you have to tighten bolts...I don't get it either...I check the bolts on the bikes I own regardless of brand. I like the fact that CSC is bringing these bikes to the US and charging very little over their price to get them to your door...way better than the exaggerated dealer fees for most "name brand" new bikes. I've been considering a 2021 RX4...as I enjoy some of the upgrades they offer now, such as the TFT display and tubeless spoke rims.

Hey Justin! Thanks for the videos! It really helped me decide between the RX4 and the Royal Enfield Himalayan. I ended up getting a 2020 RX4 just like yours in orange! I opted in for the skid plate and later on at the end of the year, and picking up a new oneal adventure helmet at the end of the month. Going to take your advice and tighten the spokes after 500 miles. I got a couple of questions, do you have a link to the lights? And what did you use to wire them. Also any tips and tricks I should know as a fellow CSC owner? Again, thank you so much for the channel :)
I live in Sierra Vista and acquired an RX3 from a GI from Fort Huachuca and used it to commute to work in Bisbee. My work would occasionally take me to Tucson and Nogales so I needed a bigger bike so I got a new RX4 which does better on expressways among larger vehicles. I live some ways off of pavement and the RX4 takes the washboard better.
I am interested in purchasing my first motorcycle. I took an MSF course years ago, but never got a bike. No off-road motorbike experience. I want something to get into road touring, but with off-road capability for forest trails. Would you recommend the RX4 to a beginner? Or would I be better off going with the smaller RX3?

I'm looking at getting the RX3 from CSC, Because of the low price. $3,999.00 out the door. With free shipping and a 2 year warranty. It's a good deal. And I'm with you man, I dont follow the preverbial herd either. Who think the only good bikes, Come from Japan, Millwaukee, Italy. Germany or Brittish made. The Chinese are stepping up their game. And will continue to improve their quality. Because they want a peice, Of the US motorcycle pie. Which is a huge $$$$ money market. Keep the videos comming. I just subscribed to your channel. I would choose this over the himalayan for my style of riding. While I do like the 21" front wheel of the himalayan over the 19" front wheel of the RX4. The fact that the himalayan has 1.5 more inches of travel than the RX4 on both front and back would also be nice for off road riding. However, the RX4 has a over a gallon more of gas in it's tank, comes standard with engine guards, has a standard top box rack (and the CSC side box racks are lightweight which is important for smaller engine touring bikes), and is a 6 speed transmission, as well as excellent customer service from CSC sold me on the RX4.
Hmm thinking about one of these. I have the hawk 250 right now witch is deck out to the max and does 70mph now... I did find a 2007 Klr 650 in perfect shape for 2900$ I just don't know witch one to get? Oh and my hawk has been reliable AF!!
What size is the tanks and what is the actual mileage? What are the service intervals ? Do you get an owners manual and a shop manual ? When you received the bike, how much assembly did you need to do ? Is the plastic quality or cheap ? Would you buy it again ?
Pretty funny. Just started watching this video and realized that I previously watched and commented 10 months ago. I bought a used RX-3 and it’s pretty amazing. I logged more miles on the RX-3 this year than on my Ducati. I actually find it more enjoyable to ride. Looking at getting a new RX-4.
Please make some more videos on this, I am interested in buying this style bike. Could you do some hwy riding and maybe also a video on the sound of the bike while idle and when riding on pavement?
I'll do my best to make some more videos. Been busy coordinating a new trail initiative for Flagstaff, AZ. Plus, since it's winter up here, all the trails and forest roads are still closed which means a 45-60 minute road ride to get to any dirt. Highway riding is on my list, as well as a top speed of 98mph proof video. :-)
Justin Inglis Thank you for the video, very informative. I am watching for the same reason everyone else is, and Boy, do I have a metric sht ton of questions for you. Consider it content. Also, I have tried to read all the comments to-date to see if you've answered them before: Your mpg (Hwy,Cty,Drt) Your 0-60 If you lane split, how well with the boxes Break in procedure How to maint videos? etcetera... Also, Avg MPG before and after 50/50 tires. lol Do what you want and I am not saying I am the only one asking, or that you haven't already done it. Thank you man, really appreciate these videos.
hahah, I am happy i can make some videos to get CSC off the ground. Great service, great products (for the price), and a hell of a lot of fun to throw around the RX4 knowing my investment was low. Here are the answers to the questions you posed: - MPG: 60HWY, 55Cty, 45drt... Drop in gas mileage on the dirt is due to me keeping it at 5000rpm or higher - 0-60: Not-too-professional test was about 6 seconds - Lane splitting not allowed in AZ; however, you can throw the bike around easily since it is so light. Plastic boxes stick out no farther than the mirrors, the aluminum ones you can get stick out a good 2"+ more on either side - Break in lasted 500 - 1000 Miles. Oil and filter change at 500 with a valve check (all looked good) Although, bike started idling much better at 1200 miles. - Not many maintenance videos out there yet. However! CSC has a tech, Joey, that will send you any break-down pictures you can ask for and explain the process in detail. The more questions CSC customers ask, the more resources they put online. - Have not put on the 50/50 tires. Although, after riding today, I will likely install the Shinko 805's. Stock tires lasted ~3,000 miles (with 800+ on dirt) I'll be posting more videos here soon. Weather is warming up and I have a lot of spare time!

CA has legal lane splitting at red lights, so width is important. It will be interesting to see MPG difference between tire types. Huge comfort in your reviews on csc support team. You mentioned in a comment about a 5yr warranty; Did you happen to price/terms that out? Heck yeah man! Now I really need 5k more in the hole. Getting excited. Thank you.
Have you been up to the 'rez'? The Navajo and Hopi reservations. I lived in Pinon in '02-'04 when I worked at the school district as a teacher. Lots of dirt roads up there. If I ever get my Chinabike (Chinariders member as well) I have it in the back of my head to make a trip up that way (I live in Yuma). Maybe a group ride? We had one with a few Chinariders members from Surprise to Wickenberg last November.
culcune never made it up to the reservation yet. As a non-native, I font feel comfortable riding on land what is not owned by my nation. However, if any natives are willing to guide me out there, I’m more than willing to go explore!

I've road two up with both my wife (130lbs) and my mom (150lbs). When either of them rode, I had the top box on the back so that they had a back rest, I also put two water bottles in the side boxes to lower my center of gravity. Rode fantastic with them on it. Both were comfortable, although the 1.5 hour trip with my wife, her butt got a little sore. I am going to give her the seat pad on the next ride. Was really nice having the back hand holders for the passengers near their butt. When they got comfortable, leaned back into the top box, and held those grabs, they we're very comfortable. Rode around Phoenix on 4 lane highways and on single lane curvy state routes. Handled both well. Got up to 90mph on the long straight aways and was able to be quite zippy on the state routes. I will say that all acceleration is lost with a passenger after 70mph. You can go faster, but it'll be a putt-putt to get to 90mph. One thing you must do before riding two up is to adjust your rear suspension preload. I adjusted it to be much stiffer (a good 60 "ticks" on the spring adjuster). If you don't do this and try to ride double up, it will throw off the geometry of the bike and give you speed wobbles past 60mph. Hope this helps you out!
@@georginglis423 Thanks for the reply, Justin. Understood about adjusting the preload on the rear, have to do the same on my ST1300 when riding two-up. I am looking at the RX4 as an adventure bike for myself, with maybe some two-up riding on occasion here in NC. I lived in PHX for about 8 years and it was fun to see your video of you riding in the desert down around Sedona. I spent a good amount of time out in the desert driving around, camping, etc. If you haven't ridden it yet, head east and hit 191 between Springerville and Safford. Fun road for that bike with great views. Another great area, if you have a longer weekend and want to load up and do some camping, is making the run up to Durango, CO. Looks like it would be about 5 to 6 hours for you from Flagstaff depending on the route you take. I used to do it on weekends on my BMW out of PHX. The roads and views around Durango are fabulous and the ride through the desert of NM is pretty cool too. I camped at both of the KOA's in Durango and also the one in Cortez, CO. Always liked having a shower at the end of the day. Last note, if you roll down to Camp Verde and take an East on 260 and then connect to 60 in Show Low, run 60 over into NM and overnight at the High Country Lodge in Magdalena, NM. Very cool, motorcycle friendly, motel. The really neat part about the run across 60 is you go through Datil, NM, where the VLA (Very Large Array) is located. You can stop and tour the VLA center. You may have done all this already, but just wanted to share... Thanks for the info!!!

I bought a ninja 250 in 2002. Bought a Qianjiang "virago 250" in 2004. The QJ was retired in 2007 due to a myriad of safety issues that were not cost effective to attempt to fix. The ninja runs great to this day. I'm sure the landscape has changed but I just want to thank you for letting me know how much of an idiot I am for my slightly cynical view of chinese motorcycles.
I live in Tulsa, ok and most shops won't touch spoked wheels around here, and the ones that do charge way more then 60 bucks LOL. Granted this video is 3 years old, everything costs way more then it did 3 years ago....
I'm looking for my first bike. I rode dirtbikes a lot as a teenager. I have strongly considered this bike, BUT there is also a 2012 f650 gs for $5600 near me. Would you still pick the RX4 over the f650? I also have a shop close that works on chinese bikes, so I wouldn't be worried about problems, especially in that first year. Gah I'm so torn. Wish I could ride one of these before buying it, but I also love the sales model.
Ben - I am in no position to tell anyone what to do but one thing to consider with a used BMW dual sport/Enduro/adventure bike is what condition is it in? I had a 2005 F650GS for a while and it was a good bike, but a few things went wrong that I didn't have the tools/ability to fix. Cost me quite a bit to have a BMW shop diagnose and fix the issues. Little things that went wrong were still expensive...such as a broken taillight housing (the plastic cracked right where the bolt was, because the previous owner over tightened it). The plastic housing, by itself, no bolts, bulb or red plastic lense was $50 from BMW...ended up finding a whole assembly used on eBay for $50. It's something to consider. CSC seems to do a great job stocking parts for these bikes and I was shocked at how inexpensive certain parts are to replace. To the point where I'd probably buy spares of things just in case...like turn signals...as off-roading can be hard on parts like that. The resale value isn't going to be there on the CSC...but you'd also be getting a brand new bike to your door for the same cost as a 9-year old BMW. Again, I have no right to advise anyone on how to spend their money, but wanted to offer an opinion from someone that had an older BMW and paid the price for being "frugal."
I think it could make a great first bike, depending on what kind of roads your planning to ride it on and your past experience with scooters and mountain bikes.
being 6'2", I am a hair cramped on the bike. Added a 2" seat cushion to bring up the seat hight and add highway comfort. Also recently added 2" riser for the handlebars to accommodate. Between the two, it was a $180 upgrade that made the bike fit my hight. That being said, I am happy the bike is as smaller than other adventure bikes. Has helped me learn rough off road riding by giving me the comfort of knowing I can easily put my foot down in any sticky situation
Ok on the height issue. I am 5’ 9” with 30” inseam. I find the bike too tall so I am getting the more narrow seat. So far I wish I could say I love the bike but so far I don’t. I think the throttle is very sensitive especially when down shifting. It is a beautiful finish. If I had to do it again I would not have bought it. I only have 250 miles on it.
The bike is sensitive on the throttle between 3500 and 5000rpm. Downshifting in those RPMs is not recommended. Bike prefers to sit between 5000 and 8000rpm (like a small crotch rocket). Acts a lot like my old Yamaha FZR400, which was also a single cylinder high compression engine... I’m guessing these engine types just don’t like low Rpm. 🤷♂️
I was referring to the so called smaller adventure bikes and Japanese dual sports as other choices, like the: *Honda:* XR650, CRF250L CRF450L, CR500X, *Yamaha:* WR250R, XT250, TW200, Tenere 700, *Suzuki:* Vstrom 650, DR650, DR-Z400S, DR200S, VanVan 200, DR-Z400SM, *Kawasaki:* KLX230, KLX250, KLR650, Versys X300, Versys 650. Some of these motorcycles are more expensive than the RX4, but some aren't. I've never seen a high mileage RX3 or RX4, so I don't think anyone knows how reliable they are. If someone has a high mileage Zongshen motorcycle I would like to hear about it. One known problem with Chinese motorcycles and scooters is dealership support. When something goes wrong, most people won't be able to take their RX3 or RX4 down to their local Zongshen dealership. I don't think any of these motorcycles were designed to travel 90 mph for any extended period of time. I think all these motorcycles are freeway compatible except for maybe the VanVan 200 and TW200. One great advantage for motorcycles that are popular and have been manufactured for a while is the amount of aftermarket accessories available for them. Everything imaginable is available for the Kawasaki KLR 650. Enjoyed the video!
Gotcha. Thank you for giving me the list. To speak to the Zongshen quality over the long term. I agree. There isn't anyone who has rode one and review it after 20,000+ miles. However, I am 2,600 miles in, and have had no mechanical issues so far. So that's a good sign. Would also like to say that the front forks are baller. While there isn't much suspension on the front (5.1 inches) and due to this I have bottomed out the suspension 5+ times on rough trails at high speeds, there is not a single leak or problem with the front fork. I have beaten the hell out of them to the point where I stopped the bike and inspected the fork after extremely hard hits, and it's all looking good. No broken seals, no issues. Agreed that the KLR is modifiable to the extreme (it's really baller what people do with KLRs). Loved the idea of getting a used KLR, upgrading the suspension, adding the racks I wanted, etc. But I rode my buddies 2004 KLR and just didn't like how it road at 75mph+. I do a lot of highway riding and needed a bike that could comfortable cruise at 80mph, and pass semi trucks, and I took a gamble with the RX4 and found it's highway riding is very comfortable. Are there trails where I wish I was on a KLR, ohhhhh yeahhhhh, but every trip i take to get to the trails, I am extremely happy I got the RX4. As for the dealership question. I've found that the RX4 is really really easy to work on. Plus, if there is not an instruction video or tutorial for something I need to fix, I have reached out to Joey at CSC and he took the time to take pictures and create the instructional document for me and for future users. Also, if you are under their warranty (2 year standard, unlimited miles, upgradable to 5 years) you can drop off their bikes to your chosen local mechanic. He can do all the work and bill CSC's warranty and get paid. No need to have a CSC dealership. I hope that a year from now, and two years from then, I still have the same opinion of the RX4. Only time will tell....
There is a CSC rider and video on CZcams who had 25,000 miles on her RX3. There is a rental company in CA which rents out RX3's and has recorded 20,000+ miles on their units. The NC250 is pretty solid engine. I have spent some time reading russian blogs and chinese blogs and the NC250 is a solid 250. Its not as tight as a japanese, but its a solid and reliable engine.
It's good to see a non-CSC review of the RX4. Just be sure, Justin, that you don't confuse CSC's Public Relations with Product Quality. And, ahmmm . . . cut down the "ahmmms". :-)
I do not understand why people perceive Chinese products inferior, when their iPhone, they’re clothing their tools , power tools are almost exclusively manufactured in China, even if the brand is American, many smaller displacement Japanese bikes are now manufactured in Thailand. The Chinese produce more motorcycle engines than anybody else. KTM ‘s smaller bikes are made in Thailand. I think you get a lot of bike for your money and if you do your maintenance this bike will work just fine. Every product has weak spots and price dictates what kind of suspension components and brakes are used, but you can always upgrade later, I know a lot of riders with fully adjustable suspension that have never adjusted their suspension, never changed fork oil never clean their brake pads, take the bike out after winter break and don’t even check the tire pressure, but they spend 20’000$ on a bike. The world has changed it’s no longer the US, and Europe that are leading the world in technology, many counties like China, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, India will overtake us, it is ignorance and arrogance that has always leads to the loss of a leadership in the technology sector.
@@jusdsun8319 Yup, two year unlimited mileage. Best part of the warranty, you choose your mechanic, any mechanic. They fix the bike, bill the warranty company, get paid, no cost to you.
Strange but I agree with your assessment of the chinese manufacturers. from where I sit they look to be of top quality as good as or better than japanese quality... so where is the problem ? it's their government ! if the USA puts trading sanctions against China.... there goes parts availability.... period... if CSC can't get the piston you need your bike sits ! that is the problem. however , no one can tell the future....so it could be a problem or not... the Chinese people are good people, their government sux.... but it's not like the chinese people have a choice... communism is, and was forced upon them, and they are ruled by fear so Like you I have considered a KLR 650 it is a very reliable bike once the doohicky has been fixed/replaced but I am also considering the RX4 a brand new450cc bike for a bit more than a used KLR650 is very alluring ! and the only thing that worried me, you have already covered... it can do 80MPH on the street... up here 70mph is legal but traffic flows at 75 to 80 mph and I have a fear of being rear ended on a bike ! so that is very important to me although I will probably only push it to 70 ~75 MPH.... it is good to know it can go faster ! and I agree with your assessment of CSC itself... good people ,very helpful and actually respond to my ramblings via email ... ( wade is great! )i cannot say that for other bike manufacturers ! ... i have no fear that if the bike broke down that I could get all the help needed to get it running again.... and any of the other bikes out there i cannot say that.... your on your own.... i am a retired motorcycle mechanic... but I don't wanna work on the things any more I want to ride ! so a new one is the way I think i will go. thanks for the informative video

you mentioned the possibility of you riding from Alaska to patagonia on the RX4.... I bet the RX4 could do it easily and I don't think you would have to order parts from CSC in california either, simply because the RX4~RX3 are really big in south america... the RX3 is a Police bike down there in MANY cities ! so they would have shops available to fix them. although the RX4 is relatively new, I am sure that they could get parts for you down south ! but given that it hasn't failed you yet except by your own foolishness if you ride in a reasonable manor your chances of making it down there and back with no problems are quite good. you are capable of being down right stupid and opinionated.... most guys are ! if you ride that new bike like a Racing 250cc bike you are simply going to destroy it in short order .... it's not a dirt racer ! stop riding it like it is ! in this video you were restrained..., but what we don't see is "dumb kid stuff moves" that your doing off camera ! don't blame the bent rim on the CSC RX4.... that was your own darn fault ! and it ticks me off that you blame them or the machine..... that's a 12 year old talking..... man up to your own mistakes ! I plan to get a 2021 CSC RX4... soon as my Ranch sells and for my uses it should be perfect fast enough to travel on the freeway yet agile enough for dirt roads.... probably 85% of the riding I will do on it is pavement riding, i'm getting old and my bones don't like to be rattled about alot.... LOL.... I hope you do decide to take a long trip on that bike , I did a long trip in my younger years and the memories alone were worth it.... do it now while you still can ! as time goes on the opportunity shows itself less and less.... Personally I'ed prefer you stay within the borders of the USA... from where you are to the canadian border is more than enough ! just go straight north , stick to the less beaten path.... and you'll have a great time !....but then that's totally up to you.... a solo trek isn't half as much fun as having a buddy along for the ride... i found that out early on.... after 4 hrs on the hard seat of my honda 305 dream I could barely walk... and the want to continue hit a low ebb ! but with my Uncle along i couldn't turn back.... so we both toughed it out.... the next day we were much better by the 3rd day it was back to enjoying the ride.... we covered 1020 miles of back roads and Highway 101 and we learned alot ! i'ed do it again tomorrow if I had a bike with a good seat and could spend the night in a motel ! I don't think Chinese bikes are on par with Japan or europe, you do? KTM 390 is 6 grand, and it's world's better than any Chinese bike!

@@jimenagulla9081 Have you read the articles on engine failures.. bad head gastkets on 390s.. also wheels cracking super easy. It's not really a ktm they are Indina Bajaj. Granted I'm sure they are at least as good as these.

Thank you for a solid review of this bike. I have a 2018 klr650 i love and am trying to find a dual sport bike my wife can touch the ground on. The Royal enfield himalayan she's on the balls of her feet which is fine but the RX4 has a much more appealing appearance plus the seat height is like 1/2 lower than the Himalayan. I do wish CSC had local dealers for parts availability like Royal enfield.
You're welcome. Happy to be one of the first to review the bike. The Himalayan is a solid bike, and like you said, parts can be obtained locally. However, know that CSC does have a full warehouse of all parts for their bikes and ship them to you quickly (under a 6 business days after the request is sent)
My friend had to wait 4 months, yes for months under warranty too for a replacement gas tank for his Royal Enfield because it was leaking. What good are dealers without parts?
CSC says they can ship out parts stocked in California in a day or two

People make comments when you have to tighten bolts...I don't get it either...I check the bolts on the bikes I own regardless of brand.
I like the fact that CSC is bringing these bikes to the US and charging very little over their price to get them to your door...way better than the exaggerated dealer fees for most "name brand" new bikes.

Hey Justin! Thanks for the videos! It really helped me decide between the RX4 and the Royal Enfield Himalayan. I ended up getting a 2020 RX4 just like yours in orange! I opted in for the skid plate and later on at the end of the year, and picking up a new oneal adventure helmet at the end of the month. Going to take your advice and tighten the spokes after 500 miles. I got a couple of questions, do you have a link to the lights? And what did you use to wire them. I live in Sierra Vista and acquired an RX3 from a GI from Fort Huachuca and used it to commute to work in Bisbee. My work would occasionally take me to Tucson and Nogales so I needed a bigger bike so I got a new RX4 which does better on expressways among larger vehicles. I live some ways off of pavement and the RX4 takes the washboard better.

I am interested in purchasing my first motorcycle. I took an MSF course years ago, but never got a bike. No off-road motorbike experience. I want something to get into road touring, but with off-road capability for forest trails. Would you recommend the RX4 to a beginner? Or would I be better off going with the smaller RX3?
Any ideas on upgrades to the windshield? I like to ride up the cold but I can’t find any brands for csc.

I would choose this over the himalayan for my style of riding. While I do like the 21" front wheel of the himalayan over the 19" front wheel of the RX4. The fact that the himalayan has 1.5 more inches of travel than the RX4 on both front and back would also be nice for off road riding.
However, the RX4 has a over a gallon more of gas in it's tank, comes standard with engine guards, has a standard top box rack (and the CSC side box racks are lightweight which is important for smaller engine touring bikes), and is a 6 speed transmission, as well as excellent customer service from CSC sold me on the RX4.
Hmm thinking about one of these. I have the hawk 250 right now witch is deck out to the max and does 70mph now... I did find a 2007 Klr 650 in perfect shape for 2900$ I just don't know witch one to get? Oh and my hawk has been reliable AF!!

Pretty funny. Just started watching this video and realized that I previously watched and commented 10 months ago. I bought a used RX-3 and it’s pretty amazing. I logged more miles on the RX-3 this year than on my Ducati. I actually find it more enjoyable to ride. Looking at getting a new RX-4.
Please make some more videos on this, I am interested in buying this style bike. Could you do some hwy riding and maybe also a video on the sound of the bike while idle and when riding on pavement?
I'll do my best to make some more videos. Been busy coordinating a new trail initiative for Flagstaff, AZ. Plus, since it's winter up here, all the trails and forest roads are still closed which means a 45-60 minute road ride to get to any dirt.
Highway riding is on my list, as well as a top speed of 98mph proof video. :-)

hahah, I am happy i can make some videos to get CSC off the ground. Great service, great products (for the price), and a hell of a lot of fun to throw around the RX4 knowing my investment was low.
Here are the answers to the questions you posed:
- MPG: 60HWY, 55Cty, 45drt... Drop in gas mileage on the dirt is due to me keeping it at 5000rpm or higher
- 0-60: Not-too-professional test was about 6 seconds
- Lane splitting not allowed in AZ; however, you can throw the bike around easily since it is so light. Plastic boxes stick out no farther than the mirrors, the aluminum ones you can get stick out a good 2"+ more on either side
- Break in lasted 500 - 1000 Miles. Oil and filter change at 500 with a valve check (all looked good) Although, bike started idling much better at 1200 miles.
- Not many maintenance videos out there yet. However! CSC has a tech, Joey, that will send you any break-down pictures you can ask for and explain the process in detail. The more questions CSC customers ask, the more resources they put online.
- Have not put on the 50/50 tires. Although, after riding today, I will likely install the Shinko 805's. Stock tires lasted ~3,000 miles (with 800+ on dirt)

Have you been up to the 'rez'? The Navajo and Hopi reservations. I lived in Pinon in '02-'04 when I worked at the school district as a teacher. Lots of dirt roads up there. If I ever get my Chinabike (Chinariders member as well) I have it in the back of my head to make a trip up that way (I live in Yuma). Maybe a group ride? We had one with a few Chinariders members from Surprise to Wickenberg last November.
culcune never made it up to the reservation yet. As a non-native, I font feel comfortable riding on land what is not owned by my nation. However, if any natives are willing to guide me out there, I’m more than willing to go explore!

I've road two up with both my wife (130lbs) and my mom (150lbs). When either of them rode, I had the top box on the back so that they had a back rest, I also put two water bottles in the side boxes to lower my center of gravity.
Rode fantastic with them on it. Both were comfortable, although the 1.5 hour trip with my wife, her butt got a little sore. I am going to give her the seat pad on the next ride. Was really nice having the back hand holders for the passengers near their butt. When they got comfortable, leaned back into the top box, and held those grabs, they we're very comfortable.
Rode around Phoenix on 4 lane highways and on single lane curvy state routes. Handled both well. Got up to 90mph on the long straight aways and was able to be quite zippy on the state routes. I will say that all acceleration is lost with a passenger after 70mph. You can go faster, but it'll be a putt-putt to get to 90mph.
One thing you must do before riding two up is to adjust your rear suspension preload. I adjusted it to be much stiffer (a good 60 "ticks" on the spring adjuster). If you don't do this and try to ride double up, it will throw off the geometry of the bike and give you speed wobbles past 60mph.

I lived in PHX for about 8 years and it was fun to see your video of you riding in the desert down around Sedona. I spent a good amount of time out in the desert driving around, camping, etc. If you haven't ridden it yet, head east and hit 191 between Springerville and Safford. Fun road for that bike with great views. Another great area, if you have a longer weekend and want to load up and do some camping, is making the run up to Durango, CO. Looks like it would be about 5 to 6 hours for you from Flagstaff depending on the route you take. I used to do it on weekends on my BMW out of PHX. The roads and views around Durango are fabulous and the ride through the desert of NM is pretty cool too. I camped at both of the KOA's in Durango and also the one in Cortez, CO. Always liked having a shower at the end of the day.
Last note, if you roll down to Camp Verde and take an East on 260 and then connect to 60 in Show Low, run 60 over into NM and overnight at the High Country Lodge in Magdalena, NM. Very cool, motorcycle friendly, motel. The really neat part about the run across 60 is you go through Datil, NM, where the VLA (Very Large Array) is located. You can stop and tour the VLA center. You may have done all this already, but just wanted to share...

I bought a ninja 250 in 2002. Bought a Qianjiang "virago 250" in 2004. The QJ was retired in 2007 due to a myriad of safety issues that were not cost effective to attempt to fix. The ninja runs great to this day.
I'm sure the landscape has changed but I just want to thank you for letting me know how much of an idiot I am for my slightly cynical view of chinese motorcycles.
I live in Tulsa, ok and most shops won't touch spoked wheels around here, and the ones that do charge way more then 60 bucks LOL.
Granted this video is 3 years old, everything costs way more then it did 3 years ago....
I'm looking for my first bike. I rode dirtbikes a lot as a teenager. I have strongly considered this bike, BUT there is also a 2012 f650 gs for $5600 near me. Would you still pick the RX4 over the f650? I also have a shop close that works on chinese bikes, so I wouldn't be worried about problems, especially in that first year. Gah I'm so torn. Wish I could ride one of these before buying it, but I also love the sales model.
Ben - I am in no position to tell anyone what to do but one thing to consider with a used BMW dual sport/Enduro/adventure bike is what condition is it in? I had a 2005 F650GS for a while and it was a good bike, but a few things went wrong that I didn't have the tools/ability to fix. Cost me quite a bit to have a BMW shop diagnose and fix the issues. Little things that went wrong were still expensive...such as a broken taillight housing (the plastic cracked right where the bolt was, because the previous owner over tightened it). The plastic housing, by itself, no bolts, bulb or red plastic lense was $50 from BMW...ended up finding a whole assembly used on eBay for $50. It's something to consider.
CSC seems to do a great job stocking parts for these bikes and I was shocked at how inexpensive certain parts are to replace. To the point where I'd probably buy spares of things just in case...like turn signals...as off-roading can be hard on parts like that.
The resale value isn't going to be there on the CSC...but you'd also be getting a brand new bike to your door for the same cost as a 9-year old BMW. Again, I have no right to advise anyone on how to spend their money, but wanted to offer an opinion from someone that had an older BMW and paid the price for being "frugal."

What's Up fellow rider, I'm lookin for a bike. Do you think the RX4 would make a good 1st bike.
I think it could make a great first bike, depending on what kind of roads your planning to ride it on and your past experience with scooters and mountain bikes.
This is the kind of terrain I would drive on. Too many reviewers think this is a ktm 350 exc.
I am curious about the size of the bike. This bike looks to be a little bit shorter than the typical adventure bike. Do you feel cramped at all on it?
being 6'2", I am a hair cramped on the bike. Added a 2" seat cushion to bring up the seat hight and add highway comfort. Also recently added 2" riser for the handlebars to accommodate. Between the two, it was a $180 upgrade that made the bike fit my hight.
That being said, I am happy the bike is as smaller than other adventure bikes. Has helped me learn rough off road riding by giving me the comfort of knowing I can easily put my foot down in any sticky situation
Ok on the height issue. I am 5’ 9” with 30” inseam. I find the bike too tall so I am getting the more narrow seat. So far I wish I could say I love the bike but so far I don’t. I think the throttle is very sensitive especially when down shifting. It is a beautiful finish. If I had to do it again I would not have bought it. I only have 250 miles on it.
The bike is sensitive on the throttle between 3500 and 5000rpm. Downshifting in those RPMs is not recommended. Bike prefers to sit between 5000 and 8000rpm (like a small crotch rocket). Acts a lot like my old Yamaha FZR400, which was also a single cylinder high compression engine... I’m guessing these engine types just don’t like low Rpm. 🤷♂️
I was referring to the so called smaller adventure bikes and Japanese dual sports as other choices, like the: *Honda:* XR650, CRF250L CRF450L, CR500X, *Yamaha:* WR250R, XT250, TW200, Tenere 700, *Suzuki:* Vstrom 650, DR650, DR-Z400S, DR200S, VanVan 200, DR-Z400SM, *Kawasaki:* KLX230, KLX250, KLR650, Versys X300, Versys 650. Some of these motorcycles are more expensive than the RX4, but some aren't. I've never seen a high mileage RX3 or RX4, so I don't think anyone knows how reliable they are. If someone has a high mileage Zongshen motorcycle I would like to hear about it. One known problem with Chinese motorcycles and scooters is dealership support. When something goes wrong, most people won't be able to take their RX3 or RX4 down to their local Zongshen dealership. I don't think any of these motorcycles were designed to travel 90 mph for any extended period of time. I think all these motorcycles are freeway compatible except for maybe the VanVan 200 and TW200. One great advantage for motorcycles that are popular and have been manufactured for a while is the amount of aftermarket accessories available for them. Everything imaginable is available for the Kawasaki KLR 650.

To speak to the Zongshen quality over the long term. I agree. There isn't anyone who has rode one and review it after 20,000+ miles. However, I am 2,600 miles in, and have had no mechanical issues so far. So that's a good sign. Would also like to say that the front forks are baller. While there isn't much suspension on the front (5.1 inches) and due to this I have bottomed out the suspension 5+ times on rough trails at high speeds, there is not a single leak or problem with the front fork. I have beaten the hell out of them to the point where I stopped the bike and inspected the fork after extremely hard hits, and it's all looking good. No broken seals, no issues.
Agreed that the KLR is modifiable to the extreme (it's really baller what people do with KLRs). Loved the idea of getting a used KLR, upgrading the suspension, adding the racks I wanted, etc. But I rode my buddies 2004 KLR and just didn't like how it road at 75mph+. I do a lot of highway riding and needed a bike that could comfortable cruise at 80mph, and pass semi trucks, and I took a gamble with the RX4 and found it's highway riding is very comfortable. Are there trails where I wish I was on a KLR, ohhhhh yeahhhhh, but every trip i take to get to the trails, I am extremely happy I got the RX4.
As for the dealership question. I've found that the RX4 is really really easy to work on. Plus, if there is not an instruction video or tutorial for something I need to fix, I have reached out to Joey at CSC and he took the time to take pictures and create the instructional document for me and for future users. Also, if you are under their warranty (2 year standard, unlimited miles, upgradable to 5 years) you can drop off their bikes to your chosen local mechanic. He can do all the work and bill CSC's warranty and get paid. No need to have a CSC dealership.
I hope that a year from now, and two years from then, I still have the same opinion of the RX4. Only time will tell....
There is a CSC rider and video on CZcams who had 25,000 miles on her RX3. There is a rental company in CA which rents out RX3's and has recorded 20,000+ miles on their units. The NC250 is pretty solid engine. I have spent some time reading russian blogs and chinese blogs and the NC250 is a solid 250. Its not as tight as a japanese, but its a solid and reliable engine.

I do not understand why people perceive Chinese products inferior, when their iPhone, they’re clothing their tools , power tools are almost exclusively manufactured in China, even if the brand is American, many smaller displacement Japanese bikes are now manufactured in Thailand. The Chinese produce more motorcycle engines than anybody else. KTM ‘s smaller bikes are made in Thailand. I think you get a lot of bike for your money and if you do your maintenance this bike will work just fine. Every product has weak spots and price dictates what kind of suspension components and brakes are used, but you can always upgrade later, I know a lot of riders with fully adjustable suspension that have never adjusted their suspension, never changed fork oil never clean their brake pads, take the bike out after winter break and don’t even check the tire pressure, but they spend 20’000$ on a bike. The world has changed it’s no longer the US, and Europe that are leading the world in technology, many counties like China, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, India will overtake us, it is ignorance and arrogance that has always leads to the loss of a leadership in the technology sector.

55mpg if just highway miles at speed limit. 45mpg if pushing it hard off or on road
$1700 you could get some really nice used front suspension on that RX4

In united state rx4 was nice its fuel injetion but here in philippinez its just an carburator..
Replace those tires and buy something that works on the street, but is better off road. Your bike will improve greatly.

Strange but I agree with your assessment of the chinese manufacturers. from where I sit they look to be of top quality as good as or better than japanese quality... so where is the problem ? it's their government ! if the USA puts trading sanctions against
China.... there goes parts availability.... period... if CSC can't get the piston you need your bike sits ! that is the problem.

so Like you I have considered a KLR 650 it is a very reliable bike once the doohicky has been fixed/replaced but I am also considering the RX4 a brand new450cc bike for a bit more than a used KLR650 is very alluring ! and the only thing that worried me, you have already covered... it can do 80MPH on the street... up here 70mph is legal but traffic flows at 75 to 80 mph
and I have a fear of being rear ended on a bike ! so that is very important to me although I will probably only push it to 70 ~75 MPH.... it is good to know it can go faster ! and I agree with your assessment of CSC itself... good people ,very helpful

and I don't think you would have to order parts from CSC in california either, simply because the RX4~RX3 are really big in south america... the RX3 is a Police bike down there in MANY cities ! so they would have shops available to fix them.
although the RX4 is relatively new, I am sure that they could get parts for you down south ! but given that it hasn't failed you yet except by your own foolishness if you ride in a reasonable manor your chances of making it down there and back with no problems are quite good. you are capable of being down right stupid and opinionated.... most guys are ! if you ride that new bike like a Racing 250cc bike you are simply going to destroy it in short order .... it's not a dirt racer ! stop riding it like it is !

I plan to get a 2021 CSC RX4... soon as my Ranch sells and for my uses it should be perfect fast enough to travel on the freeway yet agile enough for dirt roads.... probably 85% of the riding I will do on it is pavement riding, i'm getting old and my bones don't like to be rattled about alot.... LOL.... I hope you do decide to take a long trip on that bike , I did a long trip in my younger years and the memories alone were worth it.... do it now while you still can ! as time goes on the opportunity shows itself less and less.... Personally I'ed prefer you stay within the borders of the USA... from where you are to the canadian border is more than enough ! just go straight north , stick to the less beaten path.... and you'll have a great time !....but then that's totally up to you.... a solo trek isn't half as much fun as having a buddy along for the ride... i found that out early on....
after 4 hrs on the hard seat of my honda 305 dream I could barely walk... and the want to continue hit a low ebb ! but with my Uncle along i couldn't turn back.... so we both toughed it out.... the next day we were much better by the 3rd day it was back to enjoying the ride.... we covered 1020 miles of back roads and Highway 101 and we learned alot ! i'ed do it again tomorrow
if I had a bike with a good seat and could spend the night in a motel ! HAHAHHAHAHA
