    As Joe Cross says, in Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead: the space between your hand and your mouth is the last 2 feet of freedom. I choose to put only healthy foods in my mouth. I want to be healthy during my retirement, not lay in a hospital.

    For anyone who wanted to make his smoothie, here's exactly what he said:
    "Essentially nuts and seeds & Berries: low glycemic, high nutrient density smoothie:
    1. frozen cranberries
    2. wild berries (because they are low glycemic)
    3. Hemp seeds
    4. Chia seeds
    5. Almond butter
    6. Coconut butter
    7. maybe some walnuts
    8. maybe a little lemon with the rind on it
    9. maybe some almond milk"

    This guy is freaking great. 75% healthy vegan (unlike lots of fat vegans, who gorge out on pasta, bread and cereal), and 25% animal fats.
    The vegans need to realize that 98% of Americans will never be total vegans. So instead of pushing an all-vegan diet, they should be doing the next best thing, which is what Dr. Hyman recommends.

      +Eric K - Yeah, he looks and sounds good, but he's full of shit! Eating sugar drives fat cells around your abdomen? There isn't one peer reviewed study to support this, on the contrary. De novo lipogenesis is extremely rare in humans.

    • @petmomful2260
      @petmomful2260 Před 8 lety +1

      +Eric K I am vegan, and follow The Starch Solution, by Dr. John McDougall. I feel fantastic. I eat beans, rice, veggies, fruits, some nuts and seeds, whole grains. I am losing weight slowly. It is true most people will not eat the way they need to for their health. But I do, and will continue to. I do not want to end up a sick old lady who needs a cart to get around Walmart, or spends half her time in the hospital! I am not sure why people are just not willing to do what they need to. My own kids think I am nuts. They eat meat, dairy, eggs, cake, etc. And they complain about their health problems.

    • @rubygreta1
      @rubygreta1 Před 8 lety +1

      You are nuts. Getting 10% of your diet from animal fats will not result in you being a sick old lady. So have a couple of eggs once a week.

    • @petmomful2260
      @petmomful2260 Před 8 lety +1

      I am following the diet strictly because I have pain from an old injury, and I am on disability. Therefore I want to see if following it to the letter will reduce my pain. It is so easy to use egg substitute when I bake something; I don't miss eggs at all. No reason to eat them.

    Fruits and high glycemic carbs are only abundant in the summer months (long light cycle), thats when we would eat the most sugar to store fats for the winter (short light cycle) when fruit isnt as available. Its all about circadian rhythm.

    Yes yes! Very good. I never thought of it that way. God lives in us, so let's feed him real food. Well, not I know this since I suffer from systemic candida, and immune issues. My family is italian, before this I lived off of bread, pasta and canoli's. Not even joking.. Pasta with sauce, pasta w/ brocoli, pasta w/ cheese. I mean you wouldn't believe how many different kind of pastas they come up with to eat, every single night. And my family STILL thinks its okay to eat this way! They think I am the weird one! The more I learn, my mind is just blown.

    • @KeepingOnTheWatch
      @KeepingOnTheWatch Před 9 lety +1

      +Italianita Chick (Jenna Ice) Your family will realize, someday, that you're not weird. Because of my work schedule I used to eat pasta about 3 times a week - it's quick and easy, plus it's a comfort food, right? Not only did I have a big belly but my thinking was foggy, had low energy, was often forgetful and strained to keep attention on the task at hand. When I cut the pasta intake to only once every 7-10 days I lost weight and feel better.

    • @JennaIce

      @spgtenor Před 8 lety

      +Italianita Chick (Jenna Ice) - And what did your family put in the pasta? Probably cheese and meat, and pasta made from scratch has eggs in it. Italian food tastes great, but it's low in fiber and low in fruits and vegetables. So I agree with you, it's not healthy.

      +petmom ful I'm glad that's working for YOU, petmom, but u need to know that a diet low in fat and free if animal protein will leave some people deficient and weak. I have seem the truth of this first hand, with several long term vegans who eventually had to go back to meat and when they did their health issues finally cleared up. All diets have some truth in them...or work for some people. The truth is the Blood Type Diet is that their are four blood types: one of them is a more natural vegetarian, one does badly on gluten and dairy, and another does best with animal protein. Each blood type comes from a different period in humanity's history and is adapted to eating the diet that predominated in that time and place.

    Where we can get all those tests done? I have Kaizer Insurance and they would not do anything which is not in their medical standards. Their standards are outdated, they still support SAD diet (Standard American Diet). The metabolic plate is limited to bare minimum unlike in the past they do not allow blood tests (AiC) more often than 6 months apart.

    This is interesting. I am wondering why Dr. Hyman and other Drs. who have studied nutrition and disease, disagree so widely, when it comes to treating disease with food. Other prominent Doctors are completely disagreeing that olive and coconut oil and real butter, are healthy. They also say that nuts shouldn't be eaten by People with heart disease. They say there is evidence that these oils, add fat to arteries, and injure the endothelial lining around the heart, and arteries, and blood vessels. They focus completely on plant based food, and whole wheat foods to fight disease.

    • @UntakenNick
      @UntakenNick Před 7 lety +1

      It's very unlikely that anything that we eat could go straight to our arteries and stay there without our body choosing to send it there for some reason.

    • @lynneceegee8726
      @lynneceegee8726 Před 6 lety

      I have seen no evidence that "many prominent doctors" are saying any such thing. And if they were, they would be incorrect and flying in the face of the tons of up to date, evidence-based research. Those people who still have financial vested interests in promoting margarines, and "foods" containing palm oil will of course pay to have 'scientific' reports produced to slate saturated fats, and in particular coconut oil. The sugar industry is fighting tooth and nail - and involved in some extremely unethical practices - to prevent legislation making them reduce the amount of hidden sugar in your food. You need to read more widely and be selective and intelligent in your choice of reading matter.
