It was a pleasure to chat with you my friend! Fantastic stuff as always.
the right item is always heavy duty boots
Knock off
I'd say HDB is overrated-- they're very good but other items are fantastic as well.
@@Esperanza8380could say this about most items, but at least boots does its job once by the time you’re able to get knocked
@@Gabriel-rj9gn ik that someone would say this, but then i tell you, most pokemon that have this are either hazard removers that lose their effectiveness once knock off, or fire, flying, bug types that are mostly glass cannons that need support of other items to be usefull. Im not saying it doesn't have it's used heck i use it a lot, it's definitly not the best tho
@@pinkacross2042 i definitely agree but seeing treads be the only removal with a >50% wr in spl is still kind of spooky
When in doubt, Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers.
Those are probably the top 2 items yea
Great video, creating rn a pinchurchin team like you recommended. Thanks for the IV's :D
I can't believe you've done this...
The legendary 49 into 51 roll at the start lol
I use physical pincurchin with supercell slam and sucker punch.
And obviously, a full quark drive team
Why would u not use scald?
If it works, it works... but does it work?
I use twave memento rest tbolt. it uses approximately 0 of those moves every game.
We need the tapus in this game, the meta will be very interesting now that there is a good electric terrain seter.
I agree, Koko would make this metagame a lot more fun. Lele as well.
@@pinkacross2042Fini's presence also meant sleep would've have remained in the game.
@@fryrr4797 Perhaps so!
Pinkacross is underrated fr.
Dude has been making content for like a year and has grown faster than every other showdown creator
He won't be much longer. He's growing fast.
@@yung6taconot really, he has 6k subscribers which is still amazing don’t get me wrong, but I wouldn’t say he grew the fastest
Running a wholly banded, specs or scarfed team is very fun while still often being very silly, lol. Certainly one of my fav meme starts.
Overall really great video!
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes full choiced teams are HILARIOUS, they can win in pretty high ladder too (as long as you don't run into a team with several Protect pokemon)
6 boots, a designated defogger, and a spinner
Remember guys choice specs Pelli 2HKOs dozo If full def and 2HKO on gking and ting Lu and chunks a lot of mons for 40-46% on kyurem and raging bolt with weather ball, would recommend
Can't wait to get a 9% on the test.
Naaah you got this
I appreciate this content and would be interested in more of the list of item classifications being covered.
Absolutely, it shall be done! :]
Getting my bonus points 😂
You’re the goat of instructional content though, for real.
Thanks, much appreciated! :D
Will there be a part 2? I always struggle to choose between leftovers and heavy duty boots
There will be at least 2 more parts, maybe 3... there are a TON of items and I don't want to skim over anything.
I like how, if you're running a hazardstack team, most players don't use scarf gholdengo (in my experience) so dragapult, faster tusk forms, and other pokemon that can outspeed it, like +1 or 2 gouging fire/roaring moon can force it out and/or K.O it so the hazards can be removed. Gholdengo's speed with scarf tho allows me to run dazzling gleam, which KOs most of the afromentioned pokes, and for Gouging, either tera dragon tera blast or just stick to the bad situation
As someone whose favourite mon is pincurchin, thank you for giving me the evs so I can build a team around it
Awsome video, this is exactly the type of pokemon content I want.
Glad to hear it! :D
Great video as always, maybe a cool sequel video could be when to use certain items on a pokemon that has multiple sets. Kinda a combo video of this and the how to use the top 5 mons video. You once recommended me to change my tusk from lefties to rocky helmet because my team was very offense based, after that i tested with helmet and booster and both were much better for my team
Glad you enjoyed the video and I was able to help out! I'll consider that for a sequel. :]
Great Video and thank you for explaining the items for us
One thing I have to note is, that as someone who has tried making both full past aswell as full future paradox teams with a weather/terrain setter work, I have used Pincurchin with max attack, Supercell Slam, Liquidation and Sucker Punch, which I think would be the best set in that case, but yeah these teams in general aren't really viable...I've also tried this with Flare Blitz/Gyro Ball/EQ Torkoal on full past paradox...I'm curious about what you think of these sets
Glad you enjoyed the video! I think these sets are innovative but overall don't fix the issues with Pincurchin and Torkoal being weak and ineffective pokemon.
hey man great video! would you ever be open to doing laddering/teambuilding streams? love the content and would love to see more of it
Certainly I'd be open to it! Life has been very busy lately and I haven't had time to look into streaming but I certainly will in coming months!
Great video!
Glad you liked it! :D
I like this please continue the series
Will do!
Under 10k subs? HOW???
Great video!
Glad you liked it! :D

I'm not a fan of this team structure in general honestly. The first 3 pokemon are like a Sand Hyper Offense, then you have a Clodsire and a Skarmory. If you're going to take this team in a bulkier direction or an offensive direction, that works, but you need to commit to one. There's no pokemon in the last slot that would make this team function smoothly, I would say.
I see thank you for the explanation, i think i'll make the team bulkier then since clod and skarm win me most games
my youtube glitched really bad and i replied like 18 times lmao
I would like to see a part two where you go over more items on the list
It shall be done!
hey do you know where the opponent at 7:13 got that Tyranitar + Excadrill team? I saw Fusien use it in OUPL and tried to recreate it for myself but if there is a pokepaste with better EVs/confirmed moves i would love to see it
I don't have the exact pokepaste, but the original creator is Srn. You could ask him!
Thank you, I asked and they responded.
torcoal on trick room with eruption can be great tho. Possibly something like specs or even charcoal
It is a decent abuser at least in theory, but Trick Room in general is pretty terrible sadly.
would you really prefer to run modest on specs pult and darkrai over timid?
I'm greedy so yes, but it's a personal preference thing I'd say
Pinkacross, the rain part of the video remembered me about a doubt I have. Why is Barraskewda being used on Rain again? If I recall correctly, the reason Floatzel was used over it before was because of Wave Crash and the higher damage output… Yeah, Barraskewda got Flip Turn, but Floatzel also did, so what gives?
This is a dang good question. I think the main reason is just speed. Barraskewda being faster allows it to run Adamant, which Floatzel cannot afford. This Adamant nature makes it stronger when using any move other than Wave Crash, which is a big deal since usually you're just spamming Flip Turn.
Oh, I see…but why can’t Floatzel run Adamant? Is it because of Hawlucha? The next highest speed tier I can think of is Scarf Darkrai, but Floatzel still outruns it just fine under rain…
would you ever do a random battle series? you trying to get rank one maybe?
I'll leave that to Freezai, I'm going to be focusing on OU for the forseeable future.
Grassy seeed gholdengo is surprising, not something I've seen before
It's pretty funny, tanks Tusk HLR like a boss.
Yay
I want to build a in-game competitive stall team with meow. Any recommendations to build off it?

@@pinkacross2042 i wanna make the team better if you suggest on trying something different i'd be glad to give it a shot
@@francshanegasgonia7957 You definitely want to remove Cinderace. Court Change doesn't pair well at all with hazard stack (gliscor + garg)
Assault vest is my best friend
Kyurem is a different beast with that thing, imagine specs val doing 80 to you and then you fire back with ice beam
Do you play tournaments at all ?
Typically no. I'm often on teambuilding support for tournaments but I hate the scheduling and prep work involved-- it's a major time commitment and, unlike on ladder, bad luck or bad matchups in a few games can make the whole tour go downhill.
Icy rock slowking with reception on snow
2. I run white smoke torkoal because rapid spin and 140 def
3. Why surf on specs pelipper when you have weather ball
The main reason to go Surf Pelipper is for Sand setters and Chilly Reception from Glowking-- that being said given how rare Ttar is I'd probably just go Weather Ball these days.
You mean my final exam on pokemon isn't until May 10th? That's so much time for me to screw around and procrastinate. Um already subbed, do I still get those bonus points? Lol
Yes, those already subbed will receive bonus points. The final comes surprisingly quickly!
What would have happened if ur opponent hit the draco on pult in the first game?
Make it Tera fairy so Draco meteor will not work
Sure you’d gain other weaknesses, but it will be worth it for that one specific matchup
I'd probably lose. I wasn't playing carefully or particularly well during these games, just trying to get clips for background footage as fast as possible.
What’s the best choice item for Chomp, I’m tryna do somethin
Depends. Scarf if you need speed control and you don’t have some (or if you want to run draco), and band for direct power.
I'd avoid ever running a choiced Garchomp, but if you truly must... CB I'd say.
Something confuses me. If hyper offense is not meant to use choice items, how do they beat Unaware mons? Do you just get 6-0 the moment the enemy has an unaware mon?
Lots of ways! One of my favorite HO breaking cores is Roaring Moon + Gouging Fire + Glimmora. Glimmora sets Stealth Rock, Roaring Moon Knocks Off Dondozo Heavy Duty Boots and uses Taunt to make sure Dondozo can't use Rest, then Gouging Fire sweeps the rest of the team with Proto attack Flare Blitz. Stored Power is another way people often use! Ogerpon-Wellspring works as well!
is dragapult choice band viable?
I would say yes. Very niche, but viable certainly.
3:07 Timid Scarf Darkrai is better in my opinion because it has 574 speed which outspeeds both Iron Boulder and Iron Valiant which respectively have 571 and 546. Plus, if you lose your Scarf, you're outsped by 110 speed pokemons which is less than ideal. Only thing you gain by running Modest is a guaranteed OHKO on Hatterene with Tera Poison Sludge Bomb
252+ SpA Tera Poison Darkrai Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Hatterene: 324-384 (101.8 - 120.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
vs
252 SpA Tera Poison Darkrai Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Hatterene: 296-350 (93 - 110%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO
Good points, I agree-- I don't use Scarf Darkrai much but I'd say Timid is better in retrospect.
epic points
dont use the urchin guys, use prankster thunderus with taunt and electric terrain. still not great but its a better team slot than pincurchin. turn 1 taunt on ribombee or ninetails alola is a nice plus
Please, PLEASE don't lol
If Wide Lens provides an extra 20% or 30% accuracy boost, it will be really useful.
It would be BROKEN I'd say haha. Focus Blast pokemon, even ZAP CANNON would be getting spammed-- I'd be terrified of 30% wide lens. 20% might be too much as well... but maybe not!
Not the categories I would make
Damage
Defense
Utility
And then i would split them in more specific categories from there.
i love you
Id say boots on Tork is better outside of sun h.o. but i guess to be fair... sun is generally h.o.
I just prefer the triple utility of rocks sun and spin
This is a fair take, MAYBE HDB Torkoal could work on a sun balance.
@@pinkacross2042 blunder runs specs but that's fajita
@@KingThor128 specs on TR can go CRAZY! I don't think its viable but its fun for sure
Puhh, got all the bonus points.
Nice!

Bright powder was hilarious before it got banned haha
Pincurchin it's so bad fr, that's why I use electric terrain smeargle and iron thorns, it's a super strong combo, sometimes they even take down a Pokémon
This made me laugh haha

*stares at all the Dragapults and Gholdengos doing 0% to Meloetta*
I was running around with the Psyspam team earlier too; it's weird that people forget Indeedee and Meloetta have Ghost-type immunities.
Edit: Regarding Specs Pelipper: Specs Toxapex is just about as hilarious. While it doesn't hit as hard as Pel does, it more than makes up for it with:
- free healing in regen
- can't be 1-shotted, even by boosted sweepers with EQ (unless they tera ground)
- the ability to 1v1 a +2 Gholdengo (this has happened twice. send my opponents help)
- 100% chance to Confuse the opponent trainer; which then applies a 25% chance to get them to make bad plays for 2 - 5 turns

The team functions with my usual playstyle: eat hits, dish out good ones, and have one setup wincon.
Graphite + Torkoal goes surprisingly hard.
Tera Ghost 'koal is for spin blocking; it hardly gets used
The surprising factor: Torkoal might function as a strong physical wall *without* Drought. If no sun, it can eat Gouging Fire's hits better.
Thanks for sharing! It's been a long time since I've considered Specs Toxapex, and you've brought up a lot of interesting set ideas here. AV Meloetta is very fascinating as well!
If only cell battery worked on electivire. Ill never forgive game freak for this.
It wouldn't be enough to make Electivire good, but it WOULD be funny
@@pinkacross2042 Honestly it would be enough to make em usable. I havent been into competitive since gen 8 but that one attack boost with its amazing coverage is all it needs to score important koes. Without that boost it misses out on a ton of important thresholds in gen 8. It was the perfect piece of the puzzle on my team and thats all it would have needed. the only move to boost its attack being power up punch you miss out on pivitol coverage and essentially waste a turn. Made me so sad.
Im in the video, not my proudest display of skill
Nobody intelligent will judge your skill based on one game-- and these games were mostly just me fishing for clips with the featured pokemon which can majorly throw off regular prediction and reasoning. I'd say everyone in this video played reasonably well, and there's certainly nothing to be ashamed of! :]

no normal types in ou? dragonite says hello
Why is the final exam during my actual finals week :(
This final is no joke. >:]
I definitely would like to see a part 2 given how many very viable items there are still left to cover. Ex: leftovers, life orb, heavy duty boots, etc.
Personally though, my favorite items are the extremely niche ones. Most of these items are too niche to see usage in OU, but I have seen them used in some other formats (especially pokemon 1v1).
Ex:
Normal gem (still exists lol)
Metronome
All of the resist berries (can you name all of them off the top of your head? if you can you've played too much pokemon)
Custap berry
Lansat berry
Chilan berry
Maranga/kee berry
Yes, I'll be going over all of these at some point!
There are gonna be so many pincurchin teams in the lower ranks now...
It's tempting. I feel the pull of trying to make an Eterrain team often... it is difficult to resist.
2 points please.
