We made it most of the way to California in this video! It was a lot of fun, enjoy the footage! We started in the middle of the night and drove all the way in one day.
I was driving a Ford E-350 Extended Van out of Austin in the middle of the night on a rural highway to get to I-10 when a deer jumped out onto the road! I had no ABS and no early warning, but with quick reflexes, I managed to avoid it. My bandmates were pissed off at my heavy breaking, but I kept driving. After about 10 minutes it happened again so I quit driving for the night, a dangerous area!
Everyone reckons that Australia's bad for animals (I live in Australia). You guys dodge deer, we dodge kangaroos. Actually, up North we dodge buffalo, camels, horses, goats and emus too, but nobody goes up there. You get too many dents in your car!
I love you guys! You made it to Cali... I subscribed to your channel at exactly 558 subscriber plank now we are at a stageriugg 4.5 K, its been a substantial growth overt last two weeks
I never thought about how 'driving assist' features would help with deer/obstacle avoidance...my big 7-passenger Benz GL320 has 'adaptive cruse control' but I doubt it can look ahead into the dark and see a deer, or at least I've never had it slow or break for anything other than another vehicle I've been following - anyway, that is the SUV that we'll be replacing with the CyberTruck, as we really want to go all EV; however the diesel powered Benz has a good 7500lbs towing capacity, which we do need to move our ~6000lbs boat(we don't have to tow super far nor on trips, but still) and thats hard to find many options, even ICE trucks(at least reasonable ones for other daily uses), that can do that, so looking forward to the CyberTruck's rated amazing 11,000lbs towing funny thing about "range" when people talk about that, as the Benz 'could go' 600miles without stopping "if" it has a full tank(but it rarely does) except my butt can't go that far; where as our other EV leaves our garage every day with a full 'tank' charged at home .... that was the biggest thing we noticed when we first got an EV for daily use, that we never had to take it anywhere and make an extra stop to fill up or quickly put a couple of bucks in out of pocket at some sketchy gas station - now sure, driving an EV across country is going to be different with stops for a little juice along the way; but anymore we never spend more than 5 or 6 hours driving on any trip we might take(we just don't have time for that, and the personal energy to drive all day and night) and for a longer trip we will just fly
@@TroySavary lets look then Jeep Gladiator 4,500 lbs, Chevrolet Colorado only 3,500 lbs, and Ford Ranger 5,510 lbs ratings ...there are extra towing packages and engine/trans options that could be added to bring some up to 6,000 or max 7,500 lbs, but as I commented I already have the big Mercedes Benz diesel rated that high or higher(and surely it is a better ride than those trucks), anyway to tow my boat really I should have something rated at 9,000+ lbs to surpass the load by a third, as it is a big 30 foot long cabin cruiser plus gear, water tanks, 90gal fuel, and trailer so pulling the boat is already a little sketchy even with a vehicle rated for 7,500 lbs
@@BenjaminT.Minkler You are purposely looking at the versions without the tow package. I will play by those rules then and pick the cheapest Cybertruck. $60k for 2wd, 250 miles range empty, and 7500 lb towing. You also changed the number you said you needed to disqualify those trucks. Fine, let's look at full size trucks then. F150 at 14k lb or Silvarado at 13k. That's without bumping up to the HD trucks. Or if you want EV, Silvarado 10k lb but far more range than Cybertruck. Or Rivian with 11k. So, it is still apparent you either didn't look, or are purposely ignoring many trucks.
