I may be a cybernetic human that blinks rapidly to process information that I see. Jkjk. I don't really care what people say about me, I am who I am and knowing yourself really helps dealing with people that like to call out imperfections and such. But I just get a nervous tic and sleep deprivation isn't fun at all being hopped up on energy drinks.

+DSM jUhnky Thank you, I don't have a disability. It's just I tend to get nervous pretty easily and lets just say that being up all night being wired on Redbulls and 5 Hour Energy just to make the 4 hour drive wasn't enjoyable at all.
+14CCarl hmm... i dont think redbull and 5hr energy drinks can cause constant/random blinks and twitches as what we all noticed... if that is not a disability, its definitely not normal... thats some type of involuntary movement that cant be controlled. But either way, your car was nice... nice mods.

I dont know how comfortable I'd be as a passenger with someone driving my ST the way I do lol. but It is the most fun car I've ever driven, STOCK. Responsive, and tons of torque available in literally any situation.

On the podcast multiple times on many different episodes. He has #1 allocation of the Focus RS from the Gallpin Ford dealer. He is planning to lease the RS and when the lease is up he will hopefully beable to get into a gt350

The Focus ST is not an American car. The standard Focus was designed by Ford of Europe, and the ST mostly by Team RS, also in Europe. But sure, the US-spec cars are built over there.

the Focus' are assembled in Warren, Michigan.
+4sake123 The Focus currently is made in Michigan, but Ford is probably going to move it somewhere else, just have not said which location yet.
+Simon Liu The latest gen of Focus were not designed by Mazda, Ford does not work with them anymore as they are no longer owned by Ford. The latest Focus is mostly a European design.
European fiestas are built in Germany and designed all around Europe

As an ST driver with "full bolt ons" e30 tune coil overs, you name it I probably have it. I'm very pleased with this video other than the fact that mountune is the most conservative tune you can buy for the ST. Freek tune is definitely where it's at because I'm making 292whp and 371wtq compared to 280 crank hp and 355 tq
+Brandon Cardoso I didn't want to go too crazy with the tuning, but everybody in California ST recommended Randy for me. Eventually when my built motor jar reaches 7k. Carillo pistons, rods, keyed crank and timing chain sprockets, big turbo "still deciding which one to get", Stratified aux fuel system, HKS BOV, SPEC stage 3+ clutch and a Stratified calibration would be in order for Hannah. I want a 450 HP daily driver so badly, but I don't want to sacrifice reliability which is why I'm beefing the internals up.
That's smart though i know Randy writes good tunes and they're very reliable. In fact a lot of the my buddies in Atlanta ST club use him. I also want to go big turbo but im not looking to daily it with that much power. Personally i wanted the gtx2867r kit stratified sells, but i don't have the money for it unfortunately.

Lovely car and not too Hoonigan. I've a Ford Focus ST Station wagon with Mountune 1st stage, so 275bhp and it is very rapid. No badges on it apart from a yellow ST, so I really enjoy BMW drivers tailgating me while I disappear into the horizon and leave them in the dust. You can almost see their reactions as they try to figure out what just happened. Haha. Was never a badge snob and can actually drive. Great cars. Yes, they do have torque steer even when not in sports mode, but you know what? The classic hot hatches of the 80s had zero driver correction. In the modern era it's one of the few cars where you still get a thrill and have to be switched on.
Have you considered letting the car's owner drive for a small part of the One-Take? It'd be interesting to see how the owner pushes the car, at least for a bit. I'm not sure I've fully thought out that idea though.
These Focus cars of the last few years are looking real decent.

Hmm.. I too am 6'3" and about 270lbs.. I cant say it's the most comfortable of seats, but I have driven the ST3 with the full leather recaros.. that seat can use a few inches in width.. whoo.. juuuuuuust fit.
Still surprises me that 'regular' people can still sit behind me, tho snugly, when I have my seat in my 'gangsta lean' recline..
Something about the electronics makes the car feel unstable when 'flinging' corners on really twisty turny roads. more than once I thought I was gonna smash into the jersey barrier and felt unstable when driving hard against "an adversary" on those curvy roads in the woods.. again.. swear I was gonna careen and go off into the trees.. and I'm an otherwise awesome driver...lol.. .. I had to turn off the electronic aides to actually feel safer, more stable and more in control when driving like a nut. What's up with that?
The audio unit is lower middle of the road, my old VW with my Monsoon system (2002 passat) blows this one out the water.. but it's good enough. I suppose. No reall cubbies to stash ones weed or pistola.. and what's the deal with no dead pedal? I've never driven a car without a dead pedal until I drove this one!
I think that silver is the best color out there for this car.. classy and subdued.

It feels European because it actually is. It is developed mostly in Germany by Ford Europe. In Europe we had STs for years the last Focus ST was great fun too, very playful if you want from it.

I'm sick of hearing about the torque steer on the Mazdaspeed, and I'd like to change your opinion about that for good. Matt, if you're ever in dirty Jersey, I invite you to drive my Mazdaspeed3 and show you what some proper mods/tires and tune can do to this car.
+GE3KSPD MOTORSPORTS I've driven at least 5 different MS3's. All of them torque steer like a bitch.
All of them tune for peak horsepower /torque to feel better about their small peens 😉. Stock turbo is capable of making 350TRQ around 3500rpm. Of course it's going to torque steer your ass to the nearest ditch,especially on bitch tires wacky alignment.

I'm running an aggressive alignment ( because RACEKAR, right? lol). If you want a good daily, I'd say - 2 camber square. 0.03 toe. But if your goal is to eliminate torque steer, work with your tuner on a nice, progressive torque curve. A properly setup suspension (not hammered) and nice tires. An RMM is a must.

So the Focus is a slightly more mature Fiesta: the Focus is at a different stage in life than little brother Fiesta, a bit more refined, a bit less twitchy, with more space but once get start pushing it you can definitely tell they are related.

Being a Ford a guy I feel like if I am not able to afford a GT350 I am a keep my 2011 5.0 brembo and purschase myself a spanking brand new Focus RS and take the kids to school in it. Once I have them of course. The ST might be a nice car but I have a thing against fwd cars. I mean they can be fun but there is nothing like a rwd car. The reason I am saying this is because I heard the RS might have a drift mode so I am thinking the RS might be able to send most of its power to its rear wheels.
Totally agree about Focus versus Fiesta; whichever one you would prefer without the performance is the one you'll prefer with performance. (The Focus in the case of my wife and I who have two "Foci".

"I like being fat". lol. I wouldn't say you're fat Matt but you are a big dude. I've had my 2015 Focus ST for a few months now and I really like this car...not as strong obviously as my Coyote but I hate to say, 'funner'. No mods yet but thinking about the Mountune MP275 and then maybe a bigger turbo later on. Interesting dialogue about the GTI and I actually considered one but the ST won out, mainly due to handling characteristics and me not being fond of the GTI interior. Some people accuse the Focus ST as being juvenile in comparison and I don't agree: The GTI is bland to to me and a bit' too teutonic for my taste... lacking the 'personality' of the ST. I would have liked the bigger turbo out of the box with the GTI but either way, I'd be replacing the turbo with either car so that was ultimately a mute point. Always enjoy your reviews Matt so keep it up!

Technically this Focus is as German as the VW. Even though it's one of the new "global" Fords, most of it is designed by Ford Europe, which headquarters is in Cologne.

I really wanted an ST, which ever one, but used they're still in the 20k range where I am, especially the fiesta. Had to settle for an 07 350z, I now can only have one friend. :(

I am a huge fan of the Fiesta ST. The way the car feels both from sitting behind the wheel and drives the pavement. I've driven a lot of cars but its the Fiesta ST I'm planing on buying. That said, I have been reluctant to get one as of yet simply because I haven't had the chance to test drive the Focus ST. I love the small stature of the Fiesta but the Focus isn't exactly a fatass either. I really look forward to test driving one.
+Damian Wezzterman I hope you get a chance too Most FOST owners I know get one without ever driving a FIST. The other way around. The FIST is just WAY more lively and fun to drive as a DD. But it also weighs 500lbs less and better Rally car geometry. The FOST really makes a better family grocery getter car. The one thing though if you get a FIST you must stage it out and get something like a mountune pro tune regardless of fuel type. Night and day difference.

I actually got a chance 2 days ago to test drive a 2015 Focus ST that a co-worker just bought Monday this week. It is 100% stock under the hood minus an aftermarket rear motor mount. He also installed a data logger. It is supposed to be able to adjust the tune as well but has not. Anyway, I really like the Focus ST. It feels really good through the turns and pulls fairly hard in the straights. However, maybe I'm just weird, I had more fun in the Fiesta. Sure, you can tell it's not as fast, but with the money you save, it could be put into the Fiesta and make it a better car. Or at least a better car for me.
Damian Wezzterman Well said... They are both good cars. Ford has done a great job pulling themselves out of the gutter from 20 years ago. They in my opinion have surpassed Subaru as an auto manufacture in the hot hatch segment. The fiesta st is better at back road canyons or a very tight technical course. The FOST is better at straight line acceleration and higher speeds it just slightly edges out. But when you add just a few mods it becomes an entire different ball game. I haven't met any FOSTs yet around here that can out accelerate mine in any situation. But then again I'm running an E40 ethanol stage 3 pro tune. And I've tried a lot of things along the way. But there is always someone bigger and better on the block than me. I know that. Bottom line they are very good cars. Loads of fun. I think in few years I will probably add an RS to the mix as a second DD. If the FIST grabs AWD for their RS version in a couple years I will definitely consider that instead of the Focus RS. I'm basically gauging where the WRC Rally segment shifts and monitoring that situation. If they shift back to a Focus RS then that may seal the deal for me. Or maybe they also wait for the RS. I dunno yet. But I weigh appr. 185lbs and to me I love the power to weight ratio game in light weight cars.

Did you mean 2013 Focus ST? It was released as a brand new model 2013 vehicle in late summer 2012, there was no 2012 model in the US.
