I bought a brand new 2017 ST3. I change the oil every 5000 miles. I put the highest grade gas in it since I bought it put in a good air filter K&N. put on a cat back exhaust everything else is stock replaced the spark plugs brake pads alternator I have 130,000 miles on it and I haven’t had any problems with this car. Very happy with it.
Great stuff, vid just popped up on my feed. Had an 18 and now just got a 14. Will definitely be doing the purge and catch soon. Thanks for all the great info. Nice car dide
I've just brought a very low mileage stage 3 mountain upgraded 2015 focus st.ive gone from a mk7 fiesta st/mk8 fiesta st and 2012 focus st and it puts such a smile on my face
Great video! You should make a video of how we know if our car js misfiring or how to know the car is running rich or lean as well as how we know know if our car is pulling timing and all of that, I think that would be a such a great info video to watch
Fantastic video as always Nick. Solid advice for my 17 ST2. Side note, Love your LS. I had a Toyota Celsior(JDM spec LS400) in Okinawa while stationed there on TEIN adj. coil overs and 18 inch rims. It was one of my favorites... fantastic cars.
@@Nickjoenap I have a 100 bone stock focus ST I never changes the purge valve? I did do the recall. Will the cheack enginge light pop out if the purge valve goes bad?
Great video. I agree with everything you said. Catch can and plug intervals are critical IMO. Also, one thing that needs mentioning is replacing coolant at good intervals. I like 50K. Motorcraft yellow is replacing the orange and supposedly it is much better. Great video.
Can't recommend this video enough. I've owned my ST for just over a year and wondered why the idle of the car was very "uneven". If you own or want to buy an ST, you literally don't need another channel.
The ‘13 ST-2 with 106K is headed to the Lincoln garage Friday morning.for oil change and new coolant flush & fill. Mountune MP-275 91 octane tune, intake, Pro Alloy intercooler, Mountune catback, FoMoCo track springs and Quaife ATB LSD. Bought new, best car ever in 59 years of legal driving.
Good vid I like to information. I just bought one 2014 with 58k. Honestly honestly, I don’t really know much about them but the second owner works at Ford dealership where I bought it from and so if I have any questions about if you ever change the spark plugs out, I can ask him! And I need to ask him if he tuned it he’s got the borla exhaust on it blow off valve, but I’m not exactly sure what else he did to it!
When my purge valve went bad the way I could tell was after I filled the tank up it was hard to start or didn't want to stay running for about 30-45 seconds and then it would clear up. Only time it acted funny was directly after a fill up.
I’m currently looking at a 2017 ford focus st that has 120,000 miles. Waiting for it to be inspected to test drive it. It’s going for 13.5 grand currently. What should I look for when I drive it? Should I even bother or are these cars good with high mileage?
I don't know about American sts but in the UK I can guarantee at some point you should expect all your door seals to fall off it's happened to every owner I knows car and mine
I have a focus st 2019 . I was on a big open road. Came to a roundabout. Went through the roundabout and back onto the main road with a raise it was in 5th gear. When the power seem to go. When I came off the main road down in. 1st 2nd 3rd there was no kick??? Anyone know please
bought mine at 41k a 2014, at 45k the turbo has seized, i think, burnt all the oil and mixed coolant all in the engine, oil in the spark plugs etc, fuming. was driving slowly and i have no idea don't know why this happened! gutted :(
i’m not completely sure what you mean. there’s a clunk that comes from the rear struts not being tightened at the top enough and i kinda have a rattle or clunk/creak in the back but i’ve never been able to find it
@@Nickjoenap it’s definitely one of the lowest points of the car besides the subframe that’s behind it, I don’t know Spokane is pretty bad when it comes to road it must just be me 😅
Id love those wheels but I’m living in ireland and i cant find a website that ships those Vors tr4’s. Would you have another suggestion of wheel that would suit a focus st?
I have a question.... the damned Tire Pressure Monitor System light. I cannot figure out why the hell I can't get rid of that code?! Any help would be great. (I just found you so ill look. But if this isn't covered. I'd appreciate any and all info. If it helps, mine is a 2016) Thanks.
no should stick with fords recommendation for stock tune from what i’ve heard. step colder plugs come when tuned it’s just for the right heat range for the car. idk if it would hurt it or not but not any benefit in doing so
I have a question. There is a 2014 Focus ST3 that I’m looking at 167k miles on the body 127k on the engine. Ford dealer replaced the engine at 40k miles. The guy has a stage 2 clutch and new billet flywheel. He’s selling it for $9,500. Worth it or not?
Im really considering trading my fusion hybrid for a ST. The hybrid is too slow and i dont like the auto stop start because it cuts power to the subwoofer.... i want bone stock, if it already has a catch can ill be happy. I also want it to make fun turbo noises, maybe a cat back and intake. Leave the rest alone so it stays a reliable daily
That’s what I would recommend. I got a COBB Catback exhaust & didn’t even need a cold air intake to get turbo noise - just get a GREEN air filter (that’s the company name too I think) the design is different and gives you more noise. While mine has low miles I plan on doing only things that won’t dramatically mess with engine operation. It’s already got aftermarket lower engine mount, but suspension could be in near future. I also wouldn’t buy into the YOU NEED BREMBOS hype. The ST brakes are way better than I thought they would be. No point in spending thousands on massive calipers and messing with your brake system
Yes it should be every ST owners first mod. Helps longevity of engine and is a preventative measure. Only CCV side is needed unless heavily modified and driven hard
I mean put simply and not meaning disrespectfully... But would you take a shit on your plate of food and eat it? Essentially that's the job of the can. Same type of thing with egr delete kits. Just trying let the engine actually be an air pump. Not a recycler.
Oil changes every 3k miles? Huh. You should be using full synthetic oil. 5k miles would be early, there’s never a reason to do it before that unless you’re using shitty conventional oil, which you shouldn’t be. And plugs every 10k? Your wasting money man.
Maintenance is key with these cars especially when tuned to max out stock turbo potential. Cheaper than a new engine these are the rules of thumb most owners stick to
These cars only tune on paper don't waste your money gutless no matter what you do to them very disappointing and boring car can't believe ford produced and released these things 💩💩

Cool video. I'm thinking a out trading my 3.7 mustang in for an st. How much power can you make reliability out of an st?
420hp is what the stock engine can hold on big turbo, most on stock turbo is 290hp and 380tq
with a big turbo 500-550
@@sokudo_nation way too much for stock motor. 400-450 is the sweet spot for reliability.
