    This video is very useful as I'm working on maintenance/upgrade rather than looking to mod the hell out of it. I want more subtle stuff but definitely anything that gives better torque. Not looking to race it or anything wild just make it a better driver. The first thing I did was replace my air filter too lol

    Glad to see the Mishimoto updated their bracket. I have a first generation, and it broke due to vibrations or other engine movement (they were great and replaced it, though I still had the old one welded up with a small gusset). This new one has that great diagonal piece which will undoubtedly prevent such breaks.

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  Před 2 lety +1

      Interesting... did you make sure your NGKs were properly gapped? Even though they are Iridium, a gap adjustment is usually required. That said, a one-step colder plug is great for a modified Focus ST, and we recommend and sell a ton of them.

    • @jessebudelman
      @jessebudelman Před 2 lety

      Yep started at what my tuner recommend and went smaller to wider and no matter what I did I got Boost blow out even at light throttle started sputtering at 3k. Super weird, even bought 2-3 sets thinking maybe it was a bad batch. I’m not even running crazy Boost on stock turbo, (still on stock intercooler. JBR intake tube oem air box, catless Downpipe, 3.25 tomei catback) even made sure the coilpack string was seated correctly and wasn’t kinked or jammed up inside the pack pack. Put in the oem plugs and I could beat on the car and had zero problems. Ran flawlessly.

    My early 2013 ST-2 has the older 2.0L Ecoboost that uses the closed deck Mazda L-block. Any build upgrades needed to run 300 whp other than a bigger turbo? I have a Mountune intake, intercooler and cat-back. The MP-275 tune currently puts out 263 whp on 91 octane, and I’d prefer to stay on pump gas, as the car is on long distance runs pretty regularly.

    • @EdgeAutosport
      @EdgeAutosport  Před 2 lety

      300whp will be a bit of a miracle on the stock turbo... Our Garrett Powermax-powered ST with full bolt ons just barely got over 300whp on E85.

    Rear Motor Mount: Keep in mind 2016+ STs come with the better eFocus RMM. According to forum posters, this is roughly equivalent to the Mountune RMM. Anything stiffer than the Mountune is going to cause noticeable NVH, especially at idle with the AC on. The stiffer ones definitely do their job in reducing well hop, etc., but plenty of people get put off from the NVH in their street cars and downgrade.

    • @NotTxiST
      @NotTxiST Před 2 lety +2

      I have a 16', It came with the Efocus mount. The Mountune is WAAYYY better. Nvh at idle is about the same as stock but it's not even close as far as controlling engine movement.
      Mountune is faarrr better.
      Currently running CPE stage 2 and there's only minor increases in NVH from stock.

    • @BenDrechsel
      @BenDrechsel Před 2 lety +1

      I have an ‘18 and switched to Mountune’s RMM. It’s a massive difference in control, but the increase in noise was very minimal, worst is vibration at idle w/AC running, but the rest of the time I really appreciate “feeling” the engine. I’ve never even thought about taking it off, and my wife hardly even noticed a difference.

      Have you seen the price of an RS lately, 2017 here local with 21k RS2 and they want 42k for it… I paid $19600 for my ST3 same year a year ago. I would have loved the RS and I can afford one but it’s just not worth it for what you’re getting. Awd is nice and extra power is as well but not double the money. If we were in a regular market and I could pick one up for 30k it would be more realistic. Just my opinion but I looked for a while and couldn’t condone the extra cost. My ST3 is tuned and almost full bolt on and most of the mods were on it when I bought it so I’m happy. Not to mention I have a 22’ LT1 Camaro in the garage anyway 😁
