CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Takeda (Yoshio Harada) finally gets his long-awaited battle with Kinjo (John Lone).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this international action thriller, Paul Racine (Christopher Lambert) is an American salesman with a computer firm who is in Japan on business. While spending an evening in a bar, he meets Kirina (Joan Chen), a beautiful but mysterious woman. Paul buys Kirina a drink, one thing leads to another, and he ends up spending the night with her. However, when Paul returns to her room to retrieve a set of keys he left behind, he discovers that Kirina is being murdered by Kinjo (John Lone), the master of a cult of bloodthirsty ninjas. Kinjo informs Karina that no one has ever seen his face and lived, so when Paul witnesses Kirina's execution and the face Kinjo hides behind his mask, he's a marked man. With the help of Takeda (Yoshio Harada), an experienced ninja fighter, Paul learns how to defend himself against his new adversaries as he plots a final showdown with the deadly Kinjo. The Hunted represented something of a reunion for John Lone and Joan Chen, who previously starred together in The Last Emperor.

This was such a great freaking movie. I got bored and saw it in the theater... totally didnt expect to be blown away. Im so surprised its become so obscure in modern days.
John Lone delivers perfect harmony with his form👍
1:37(hit pause)....Most awesome hanmi stance by a samurai ever.
Lol right!
The best of it is that they parry the attacks with the side of the blade instead of continously clash the edges like other movies.
You need the clip where Kinjo confronts the man who hired him to kill Kirina. Just before Kinjo kills him he delivers the phenomenal line, in Japanese, "How much blood must I bathe in before I am clean." Perfect line and perfect delivery.
I think the reason they killed off Takeda is because he had no honor. You can't stop evil by doing evil. he got all his students on the island killed and he got innocent people slaughtered on the train because he wanted to test his skill. Paul was a man of conscience. that's why he was still standing. also, Takeda's arrogance in believing Kinjo would fight fair or that he could easily defeat him is quite shocking. Kinjo pretty much outsmarted him at every turn.
Great analysis
I have another theory.. it was all in the script.
You sure about that?. An inferno beats a fire. Two wrongs don't make a right but it resets the balance.
Well it's an American movie so you know who thr hero has to be
I agree with this assessment. This movie also deals with superstition and spiritual forces like Racine touching the sword that will kill Kinjo before Takeda, and what do you know, Racine ends up using that sword to kill Kinjo. When Takeda loses, he loses to Kinjo with not the sword that was made for him, but some makeshift sword from kinjos clan. Also Kinjo was pure evil and in order to defeat that kind of evil you need more then just skill. Thats what Raccine had, a good heart, and this combined with the spiritual forces was enough to ultimatly defeat kinjo.
Great actor Yoshio Harada!! Best Samurai!!
I don't know any man who could pulled a frakkin sword out of his back. takeda was a baaaaad man.
This kind of films is what made me fell in love with Japan back in the 90's... now Japan is becoming a shadow of what it looked like back then.
Love John Lone, always do...
I prefer Yoshio Harada is best in this scene is the good one!!
I forgot how good this friggin movie was.....
Kinjo is a fiend, but obviously he is a good fighter.
I love how Takeda needed his wife and Racine to all gang up on Kinjo to take him down, and Kinjo still beat him. Kinjo Rules!
Kinjo beat him because they ambushed them killed all their people and Takeda ended up with a random sword that broke.
Kinjo was badass but he's the doesn't come off looking betyer then Takeda here
@@leonevelake So in other words, Kinjo won because he was a better strategist. Takeda had a little army of his own and they all got killed along with Kinjo's army. It was almost evenly matched, except that Kinjo was clearly the more skilled of the two, and the smartest.
@@EBR1 "clearly the more skilled" Eh I dont buy that. He out played Takeda thats all
It is a EXCELLENT movie... All fight´s scenes are AMAZING... The asiatics actors are perfect perfomance
Asiatics?
Men today: I'm going to sue! See you in court!
Men centuries ago:
i love this scene..reminded me of how samurai fought in the old days
Really? Swords were too valuable to be banging them together like this. Pure Hollywood.
@jeffcaptain6738 Not entirely true. Yeah, some excessive sword banging, that's to be expected in movies.
But look up old Japanese woodblock prints of Samurai in or after battle (check out "Heroes of the Great Peace, Samurai Sadatomo, Kuniyoshi" image) and some of them show samurai with severely chipped out swords towards the primary cutting section of the blade.
In a massive battlefield melee, it's inevitable swords edges will connect, sword edges hitting various armor at all angles, swords edges accidentally being thrust/swung into the ground (full of stones and pebbles)....
It wasn't unusual for a battlefield hardened, combat Samurai veteran to have gone through a blade or two (or three) in his day. They were absolutely sacred objects, but also weren't expected to last forever, especially in constant conflict.
This is why much swordsmanship focuses on speed and surprise of the initial cuts.
Also, this is where swordsmiths made their name and fame. The best swords could withstand much abuse before chipping out and breaking.
And, to add further, the primary weapons on a battlefield wasn't the sword. It was bows, spears, etc....
This was an epic movie but if they had put Sho Kosugi in it.. then it would’ve been ultra epic! Still enjoyed the movie. I’m sure Sho was watching this movie too when it came out.
Yes, but remember, Lambert's really an immortal who has lived for 4 1/2 centuries so there was no way that Kinjo was going to win ;)
The reason Takeda died was because he wasn't the main character. He had to die to give chance to Racine to finish off Kinjo. In a normal face to face fight I think that the ninja doesn't stand a chance against any samurai. Ninjas are specialized in espionage and stealing information, rather than open fight strategies.
This should've been the Last Samurai
Already man
No.
They were equals in my opinion. Here is my reasoning. Before the final showdown, Takeda lost his sword and had to use one he took from one of Kinjo's ninjas. He lost the fight because Kinjo realized this weakness and took advantage of it by breaking the inferior weapon. However! When Racine finally finishes Kinjo off, he used Takeda's fallen sword to decapitate him. It isn't easily noticed in the film, but in my opinion it is perfect poetry!
Kinjo was the winner. Kinjo is better
Also, Takeda is bound by samurai tradition, which Racine wasn't bound to.
Takada lost because his sword broke. I would like to have seen the fight if he had his sword.
See what happens when you buy cheap swords from a mall?
Ryokugyu fighting at his best.
Is that what it's called?
" You fight for honor, I fight to win"
If the old blacksmith who shows Racine the underhand grip had been played by Shintaro Katsu, I would have bugged out later in life. Actually saw this in theaters.
The blacksmith was played by Takayuki Kubota, a well respected martial artist in his own right and the inventor of the Kubotan keychain.
Takedas arrogance made him blind to Kenjos mixture of shinobi AND samurai skills, Takeda never stood a chance
The greatest samurai dependent 's the greatest ninja decendt going back over a 1000 years. This was a very good movie
Isn't that Ricky Tan?!!!
It is Ricky Tan. 😂
Since seeing the more recent film, I became convinced that this scene (and the finale that follows) to be the inspiration for the Kylo Ren forest battle in "The Force Awakens."
+Grymmorgan when I was watching the final fight in force awakens it kept bugging me where i'd seen REN hitting his wounded flank mannerism before. then yep on the way out in the parking lot...KINJO! lol
i believe the force awakens (and the hole sequel trilogy) was inspired in the sight of an unflushed toiled
I was waiting for a single leaf to fall between them
John Lone is a great actor👍love him
Great Movie
Some people bring up the fact that Takeda didn't have his custom sword and cite that as the reason for him losing but I think that's wrong. Did Kinjo have a custom made sword? There's nothing to indicate that he did. His sword, like that of his students was functional, as were the swords issued to Takeda's students. So if Kinjo can win without a custom made sword, why couldn't Takeda? The bottom line is that Kinjo was more skilled. He didn't even flinch while taking on this highly skilled Samurai. It's like he either knew from the beginning that he'd be able to defeat him, or just wasn't worried about it at all during the fight. Either way, it's clear that Kinjo was superior in both fighting skill AND strategy and that's why he won. As far as their character is concerned, I'd say that both are equally despicable. Takeda got a bunch of innocent people killed on the train and he knew that would happen, yet he decided to hold his little showdown in the train anyway, never minding how many innocent lives it would cost. He also sacrificed the lives of his students just to get his petty revenge and they all died. As for Kinjo, it's no secret that he's a bad guy so nothing that he does should surprise us.
HOW THE HELL IS CZcams GONNA HAVE CLIPS OF THIS MOVIE, BUT NOT HAVE THE MOVIE FOR SALE? WTF!?
The bluray just came out with a workprint version of a very alternate version of the story on it
Now we want ryokugyu to fight with his black blade💚🔥🌲
Baka Samurai!
Very enjoyable duel.
bullet train scene.. the best
This is how I'd like to see a duel in the new star wars movies instead of all the flashy waving around of lightsabers and constantly doing their silly little circles that in real life would only get you stabbed in the back. This movie's not perfect but man when it gets it right it sure gets it right. Love the sword fights in this movie.
Well impossible to not have flashy battles with lightsabers, after all they're just weaponized flashlights.
Yes, but in the new Star Wars: The Last Skywalker, Rey gets to backflip over a speeding Tie Silencer and slice at it in mid-flip over it.
@@algallego And that, ofc, beats a proper swordfight. My, kids and their tastes.
Wish the fight was longer
He is! the Ninja indeed.
Racine cannot die for he is immortal... The only time he dies is when you cut off his head taking with you all his powers...
It was I know where your sword is at... that got me..
beau combat -
Great crazy old master samurai vs Great young master ninja in Great fight. But young beat old in this battle.1🇺🇲🇮🇹🥊💪
Awesome ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.
I don't know how these two fares with Joe Armstrong. The American Ninja
please upload the endingscene of this movie or better the whole movie.
Why don't you buy it instead. I did.
Of those were carbon steel swords, they’re rusty by now 🤣
Its pisses me off the way they ended it .
Why did Takeda just wear better loose clothing like he did when he was on train than something real heavy and awkward especially when it started to rain. He should’ve took off the top part of the outfit he had on and worn better shoes. He could’ve won the fight.
samurai the realty hero
Parabéns
Shintaro katsu would own all these guys.
Did Kinjo cheat by using the katana handle to block?
The og scorpion vs subzero
...this movie is very good except for the scene where Lambert kills the head Ninja! cmon now! what a way to ruin a good movie!...
But that was fantastic . He had to ambush him when he was already wounded, collapse crap on him leaving the guy with one working arm and leg and it was still a massively difficult fight.
That was the right way to do it
How can you have two movies with same name ?
Where is the full movie?
On DVD and Blu-ray.
I was so upset that the creative choice was to have Takeda lose so the bumbling westerner could deliver the killing blow after everyone had whittled him down. Always felt really anti-climactic. Love this movie otherwise!
I felt the same the first time I watched it, but after seeing it the third time I think it makes at least some sense. Both the ninja and samurai were foolish; they valued their code and honor more than human life. That Takeda did not win and land the final blow could be because of his willingly allowing the death of many on the train and inviting a battle to come to his island where at least some of his pupils would probably die. The sword maker also muttered something about not being superstitious that Paul had touched Takeda's sword, so that superstition was fulfilled, like all the others in the movie. I think it would have been more fitting for Takeda's wife to deal the final blow however, especially since she was portrayed as Kirina in Kinjo's mind. Still, awesome movie.
@@ReconciledByFaith I agree. Takeda mistoke his ego for honor. Honor would be to protect Paul, protect his pupils, and bring about the destruction of the Ninja. Instead his concern was testing his skill against Kinjo to prove to all his superiority. All those people on the train and all of those children who believed in him were nothing but chum so he could get to Kinjo. It was sadly appropriate that after he sacrificed the lives of all those innocents for his vanity cloaked as honor that he would come up short. Meanwhile Kinjo could have simply walked away after Takeda's death but instead was driven by superstition in his need to kill Paul resulting in his own stupid death.
It was done so that Connor MacLeod from the clan MacLeod could have the final quickening and gain the powers he needed for the next Highlander film. ;-)
It gives hopes to all of us peace loving normal/ordinary people who don't know martial arts but are interested in arts, science, business, etc.
For me, that is the appeal of the movie.
That stance Takeda takes at 1:37 is positively mesmerizing, and only a total idiot (much like the Ninja were known to be, historically) would choose to attack him like that. I always thought of John Lone as a fine 'classical' actor, but he was terribly mis-cast in this particular action-flick...a sad fall from grace, given his amazing on-screen persona in 'The Last Emporer'.
Well... It worked. Takeda was using a sword of lesser quality and Kinjo knew that. So the samurai stance lost its purpose.Kinjo trapped him, basically. Just watch his movements after the first blow. If Takeda were using the sword made for him,on the other hand... But then Kinjo would not have used that strategy.
Level 97 vs Level 79
Forget GI JOE Origins Snake Eyes. John Lone was a far better Asian heartthrob than Henry Golding.
Why was Christopher Lambert in the movie?
Becaues it's a christopher lambert movie
Porque no lo subes tú,aprende a subir videos y a editar
Pra quem assistiu Zatoichi essa cena é fraca.... não desmerecendo a atuação dos atores.
Spoiler Alert: The white man saved the day...LOL.
.....
Hiken my all night long kudasai
Hong Kong vs Japanese
Loved the film. But in a pure sword fight the Samurai would win over the ninja master. The Ninja would need to resort to trickery. Why not have Kinjo disappear into the shadows and methodically kill the sword master...take him down slowly. Not stand out in the open...oh well.
They need to make a good "realistic" ninja film. Ninja's kill in the dark of night. Never seen or heard. If anything..for entertainment purposes only reveal the ninja's arm at the time of the kill. Or make the audience assume a character is the ninja. Keep the audience guessing. Ninjas were suppose to be able to move around among the people in the day. Master of disguises as well.
Anderson C he used treachery to infiltrate the fortress. At one point he doesn’t admit he is kinjo but his messenger.
Was he the greatest ninja master ever? That's what made him so special
Takeda would’ve won if he had his own sword.
The part where they are standing back to back to each other is dumb, it ruins the entire fight.
It's like a seeing who will strike first, they both know that one of them will have to turn around fully in order to slash. Basically their testing each other. Look up Zatoichi and the Chest of Gold final fight scene and Avatar the last airbender season two when Zuko was fighting Jet.
terrible choreographies tbh lmao
I fought someone skilled at katana using training swords recently. I questioned who I was after that fight.he was Japanese and 5'2
