Bill Hicks on Austin public television...talking about a TV show he was developing in England...God I wish Bill would've lived to see the internet...he would've loved it
it was liver cancer that spread to his pancreas... i have never heard of a comic that speaks for me more than this man. it is my new personal mission to continue down the the path he took. the path of truth.
Hahaha I've been able to do that ever since I can remember, and this is the only time I've ever seen anyone one do it as well. In my head i was like " holy shit! no way" haha yet another reason to admire the great guru of creativity.
Amazing... I wish people would stop compareing him other comedians who are simply questioners and anti.. Bill has the insight to question but he also has a dream apositive message and a 'spiritual' bent that is unique to him.. 0m
how come i never heard of bill hicks never seen him on tv had to accidetilly findout about him on the internet yet he really is amazing with what he says he should be getting more credit even when he is dead
Hills really knew his shit. I wonder if they day will come when comedians will move beyond their realm of purely 'entertainment'..Bill Hicks never seemed to even tell jokes, he just got to pissed off, but he never lost his point. fucking genius
One of the greatest books that deals with the evolution of ideas is The Lucifer Principle by Howard Bloom. Bill Hicks lives on in my ideas! Let's evolve.
I really hope the internet becomes sentient in 2012, perhaps it shall become as a collective consciousness. LOL via wifi in to our brains. Miss you Bill
Audios not in sync with the vid, but thanks for posting. Ive watched so much of Bill that its hard to find stuff that i havent already seen or heard before. The man is a fucking genius. Cant wait to meet him on the other side.
@TheScareynerd I agree. Whatever happens though, will happen again. The end will bring a new beginning and I just hope I get to come back and be part of the golden era and not the dark ages.
Had Hicks still been around, I suspect he'd have been a regular on something like QI (I delight in telling people things they don't know, particularly if they're true') and maybe the idea for a show he had would have developed would've been picked up by someone like BBC4. Hard to see how a commercial station like Channel Four could sell ad space before or after this show, cos there wasn't going to be any ad breaks during it.
@wheelmanstan That reminds me Bill Maher's"Religulus" When he is on an interview with a mayor, which says that you don't have to be smart to be a mayor, followed by an akward silence.
it's mainly financially motivated, Canabis has alot of uses other than smoking and getting stoned, and the legalisation of Hemp farming would put alot of other industries out of business, and the governments would have a hard time taxing Weed like they do Alcohol and Tobacco... they don't care how much it hurts people is it either makes money for them or saves them spending money... health comes second for most governments I think =(
@ZEITGEISTism The only question that comes to mind then, "how do you infect someone with pancreatic cancer", or "how do you buy/scare people enough to lie out-right to the public about a particular person's death i.e, cover-up", or finally "How do you just make someone disappear... then cover it up". Which leads to, "What did her know, could know or potentially do, that could threaten the powers that be."
@girlphriend I'm not quite sure what the argument has been, but the whole idea is that a society degrades if mind altering drug use is widespread. Coffee is niether mind altering nor mood altering. Cig either, some clam they are, but not really in the true definition. And ofcourse not when compared to alcohol and illegal drugs.
@murray1234567891011 you know, i am fairly religious person, but i have been listening to a lot of bill hicks lately & i'm beginning to wonder if he really knew something. on rare occasions there are people in this life who understand things on a level above everyone else, & these people tend to be public figures & all tend to die before their time. he is such an intelligent person that he really makes you think that he knew something that we'll all know someday, he just knew it before us.
@DiAboLiicz Check out Doug Stanhope, Louis Black, and Joe Rogan. I don't think any of them could fill Carlin's or Hick's shoes...but they're good in the same way.
@stfwho Cheney without a doubt. Go to a random person and ask them who Bill Hicks is. Odds are they won't know. But there's a lot of people who do know and love Cheney. Sounds despicable but that is the nature of the world today.
@wheelmanstan If only we lived in a meritocratic society, in which our leaders are literally the most intelligent, so we don't have people like George Bush, or Rick Perry, or Nick Griffin, Gaddafi, the list goes ON and ON, and will ALWAYS go on until the end of time unless we drag our way out of the darkness by seeking the light of Absolute Truth as I call it. If we build our civilisation on knowledge, pure and simple, then together we can become gods. And then you see Rebecca Black... T_T
Quick side note: "Exact dates of their births and deaths" is a very, very questionable phrase coming from the mouths of...well...anyone but those who know first-hand when an individual died. Especially in regards to historic Asian figures. Don't get me wrong, you've got a great sense of humor, ketchup. But hell, considering the person you attributed the quote to lived 2000 years after Confucius, can you say (and believe) for sure that it was said independent of Confucian thought?
Relax dude I'm a fat stoner in fact I'm stoned right now & he is a cool guy to give Hick's an audience where he's free to talk about what he want's, but couldn't they get someone who actully know's what Hick's is talking about & not just respond with: "Yeah"..."cool"..."great"..."yeah"
Well, the problem is here, If you jolt them, it just goes right over their head. They don't get it at all. Very frustrating sometimes. Go and find a brainwashed Muslim and convince him that not only is his religion wrong, but in fact the way he thinks is wrong and that his whole idea of God and government is backwards. You just get a blank stare.........Thats what I'm dealing with here. Peoples beliefs are LAW here. Problem being, its not even their beliefs. Some one told them to think that way
Well, personal motivation in this system stems from greed. Not to contribute as a member of society. Getting rid of money and bartering would take the greed out of the equation. If you want to be noticed for something, you will have to pursue an education. If you don't. Then don't. I make guitars. If people didn't have to pay me for them and I didn't have to pay for the parts, I would give them away for free.
??? You´re calling me stupid ´couse i would love to ask some questions to one of the people that I admire the most? Haha, you see, becouse of people like you is that Bill had such good material. I bet you´re the Freebird guy lol...
Preemptive:" taken as a measure against something possible, anticipated, or feared; preventive; deterrent: a preemptive tactic against a ruthless business rival." Doesn't say anything about having actual facts. Its based on an assumption. The war was preemptive as bush took on a hit them before they hit us strategy. So if they had weapons or not, or they knew about them or not, the basis for being preemptive is to hit them before they hit us. whether they were going to or not is irrelevant.
Also curious. If you're gonna make claims about how unintelligent he is on certain topics, you should be backing it up with your reasons, without question.
OK, what about handicap people who are forced to live in poverty because they can't work? In a resource based economy, if you really think about it, the new innovations come from people who actually want to provide for us as a species because it evolves us not, because of a piece of paper(aka money) People wont be lazy in a resourse based economy because they wont be forced to work at mind numbing jobs and are free to pursue what their actual role in a society is.
no im not insecure you are bein very closed minded yea i haven't been to college...i may not be able to focus very well to be able to do straight lace school doesn't mean im not smart you dont kno me you're asumeing and like my dad says asumeing makes an ass out of you u and me lol
Hicks sure loved the sound of his own voice. I'd have loved for that show to have been picked up, for the unintentioal comedy that his own self-importance and ego provides. His empty rhetoric is about as 'deep' as the nonsense Chopra and De Bono write about.
So many things that I would love to ask to Bill...
Anything we can imagine, we can create.
What an inspiration. What a legend. What a source of truth, and man worthy of such great respect. Thank you Bill.
it was liver cancer that spread to his pancreas...
i have never heard of a comic that speaks for me more than this man.
it is my new personal mission to continue down the the path he took.
the path of truth.
A thought is just a thought till you turn it into something more. Every action and reaction started as a simple thought.
brilliant, thanks for sharing this.
Hahaha I've been able to do that ever since I can remember, and this is the only time I've ever seen anyone one do it as well.
In my head i was like " holy shit! no way"
haha yet another reason to admire the great guru of creativity.
Wow! You're so smart, teach me more!
thank you for this, bill rings true through my heart :)
Amazing... I wish people would stop compareing him other comedians who are simply questioners and anti.. Bill has the insight to question but he also has a dream apositive message and a 'spiritual' bent that is unique to him.. 0m
I can only think of two words to describe this man right now.....
FUCKING GREAT.
how come i never heard of bill hicks never seen him on tv had to accidetilly findout about him on the internet yet he really is amazing with what he says he should be getting more credit even when he is dead
Hills really knew his shit. I wonder if they day will come when comedians will move beyond their realm of purely 'entertainment'..Bill Hicks never seemed to even tell jokes, he just got to pissed off, but he never lost his point.

I have seen that in the bookstore. Read the back, and I've been waiting to buy that for a while
coughlan asking a question in the end...
@TheScareynerd I agree. Whatever happens though, will happen again. The end will bring a new beginning and I just hope I get to come back and be part of the golden era and not the dark ages.

@Mosixman nope, but now I know what solipsist means.
@kingkickball Who dyou think is gonna be remembered and admired longer, Hicks or Cheney?
Actually, *Ekaku*, a Zen Buddhist, asked, 'What is the sound of one hand clapping?'
@Gonko10 i agree also i would add Patrice O'neal. hes hilarious.
it's mainly financially motivated, Canabis has alot of uses other than smoking and getting stoned, and the legalisation of Hemp farming would put alot of other industries out of business, and the governments would have a hard time taxing Weed like they do Alcohol and Tobacco... they don't care how much it hurts people is it either makes money for them or saves them spending money... health comes second for most governments I think =(
Heh...you spelled genius wrong. But I agree with your point...
This guy is the fucking greatest! him and George Carlin, in my opinion
@ZEITGEISTism The only question that comes to mind then, "how do you infect someone with pancreatic cancer", or "how do you buy/scare people enough to lie out-right to the public about a particular person's death i.e, cover-up", or finally "How do you just make someone disappear... then cover it up". a man always does what hes meant to do when hes meant to doit even if he really doesnt want to
genius is genius.

Would've loved to see the show that Mr. Hicks describes. *Sigh*
@DiAboLiicz Check out Doug Stanhope, Louis Black, and Joe Rogan. I don't think any of them could fill Carlin's or Hick's shoes...but they're good in the same way.

But he liked public broadcasting....it doesn't have censorship...
evolution of IDEAS.

being educated is not the same as being smart
he looks kinda like john lennon here
Relax dude I'm a fat stoner in fact I'm stoned right now & he is a cool guy to give Hick's an audience where he's free to talk about what he want's, but couldn't they get someone who actully know's what Hick's is talking about & not just respond with: "Yeah"..."cool"..."great"..."yeah"

??? You´re calling me stupid ´couse i would love to ask some questions to one of the people that I admire the most? Haha, you see, becouse of people like you is that Bill had such good material. I bet you´re the Freebird guy lol...
Doug Stanhope is influenced by Bill Hicks, but he's not Bill #2.
Preemptive:" taken as a measure against something possible, anticipated, or feared; preventive; deterrent: a preemptive tactic against a ruthless business rival."
Doesn't say anything about having actual facts. Its based on an assumption. The war was preemptive as bush took on a hit them before they hit us strategy. If you're watching this and a smoker, quit for Bill's sake. The number one cause of early onset pancreatic cancer is smoking.
Or Doug Stanhope.
ever heard of google?
No Lenny Bruce? fail
Also check out PsychicTV with Genesis P-Orridge to expand your mind. Peace bitches.
Hey mymentor, if you hate Bill so much why are you watching his videos? Keep the negativity to yourself
@ZEITGEISTism he used to smoke, he had cancer, stop with regressive comments, stupid speculation about an unimportant fact, we just have here and now
"intolerance" is the word i think hes looking for.
@wheelmanstan Well, not really. Bill is dead, and idea's aren't alive. That's the reality.
@wheelmanstan So what, you're some kind of internet solipsist?
@garethac81 OPRAH LORRRRRRRRRRRVES AUUUUUUUUSTRALIAAAAAAAAA!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
What, ill?
How the fuck is Stanhope cocky?
A lot of Stanhope fans used to be Hick's fans.

@ZEITGEISTism

you can get many cancers from smoking.

lmao
HE DANCES TOO WELL
Hicks sure loved the sound of his own voice. I'd have loved for that show to have been picked up, for the unintentioal comedy that his own self-importance and ego provides.
His empty rhetoric is about as 'deep' as the nonsense Chopra and De Bono write about.
What a load of absolute piffle.
Sprint fuckin sucks...
