"If the words 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness' don't include the right to experiment with your own consciousness, then the Declaration of Independence isn't worth the hemp it was written on." - Terence McKenna
I love this, because it's public service, it feels more genuine, like everything he is saying isn't planned or isn't reviewed by corporate, just bill hicks speaking his mind. Wish more media was like this today
Authenticity and Truth is more interesting than sitting in the darkness isn’t it🪑? And in that darkness discussing nothing because nothing matters to you you stand for nothing you’re just violence and walking talking anthrax and you just talk about fluff and nothing means anything to you least of all human life and the only thing that would seem to bring delight to the void that you’re living in and that you’ve become is to harass and target and abuse innocent people. That’s what I hate the most about darkness and evil and why I wouldn’t take any pleasure in the company of those practising endless deceit, witchcraft, and sorcery is the fact it *is* the destruction of meaning itself separate from the strictly moral question although it is connected. Apart from the other reasons I hate evil: I see it for the stupidity that it is. I’m not a fan of stupid. I second Judge Judys assertion: Pretty is temporary dumb is forever. The death of civil liberties - big one although people seem to be happy in their shackles. Also the fact there is nothing natural or normal about the darkness and evil.
Bill was a guiding beacon for us all to exemplify; within yourself is a Bill waiting to be unleashed. Each of you who watch this, unleash it, and you will unleash it within all those around you...and maybe we can try and change the world, and Bill's ride won't be a waste.
His words still speak true, and with social media being the mainstream now, I think his focus on mainstream media applies to social media today which is a scary idea considering how many get their news from social media.
This is I'm guessing taken from VHS which is not the best for audio plus this is also a Public Access broadcast from the early 90s. Regardless of the audio, the words from Hicks just show that we no longer need to just listen but to open our eyes and actually take a stand!!! regardless of intellectuality or social standing!
I heard when he was a kid, he was hiking in this ancient forest and found the glasses sitting on a 600 year old tree stump with thorned vines entangled around the bark. He lifted the glasses from the stump and a bright light shone upon him from the skies. A voice said, "Bill you must wear these glasses to spread the truth among your brothers and sisters". Bill slipped on the glasses and smiled, a strong energy flowed throughout his body. "I understand, I will go and spread the news".
I think many of the bill's thoughts come from mushrums trips! It's such a good spiritual drug I did one time and was fabulous! It really open your mind in a certain way that you think that you realize the truth about everything!
interesting indeed . . . all true hicks fans should see this - I'm surprised more have not seen this post. I've watched and heard quite a lot of his material but I never knew about the show he was piloting in Europe during his last days . . . thank you for posting! P.S. - can the complete interview be found anywhere at all? [ Thanks Bill! You are missed brother! ] : )
Bill underestimated how docile people could become. We have more TV channels and faster Internet connections than ever, and we're collectively dumber and more cut-off than ever.
Logdizzle, Sadly the world we now live in is exactly the world Bill warned us about. I sometimes think Bill himself is better off out of it listening to Hendrix on Harp. I think if he'd have lived on he would have gone 2 ways. He would have either been an activist or would have killed himself at the futility of it all. In the UK and we have a comedian named Frankie Boyle who's prescence on a TV show was the only reason people watched. When it went prime time he was dumped. He has Bills heart.
the letterman material was "unsuitable" because it was identical to a previous work by Dennis Miller. his explanation was bullshit and propa propa gan-DA propa propa gan-DA propa propa gan-DA (let's mambo!) propa propa gan-DA.
its good if you dont have any "skeletons in the closet".. i've done them 4 times, and have had 3 bad trips.. and my good trip was them not even kicking in at all.. but they do have the potential of being very thereputic
@doggypound1 Yeaaaaaaaaah, like pro-abortion, pro-drugs, chain smoking, random insults lodged at the Southerners, gun-owners, land owners, corporate institutions, and the medical industry. Cool intelligence.
Stop watching TV. If we all do that those power structures will crumble. Practice Awareness. Breathe Deeply. and then give some money to a street musician. We will awaken our inner Samurai and Resurrect the wild open freedom of what this country once was. "Burn down the malls." -Mojo Nixon.
ZiplineShazam Un4tunately, DUH mainstream thinkz da street musician iz boring. Meanwhile, Cardi B, iz ILLumiNAUGHTY, while they r better than she. Certainly, mo Christian. SMH
@diddymuck PROVE OR GTFO oh yeah, "unsuitable material" doesn't mean material that was plagiarised; it means material not safe for viewing. Same way porn is unsuitable to minors not because it's been done before, but because its porn. To put this in terms you will understand. P.S. If you think Hicks' standup is random insults then you have never heard or seen Hicks' standup.
@doggypound1 He is intelligent no doubt, but he sadly used it for the wrong method. His soul was sucked out of him faster than he could conjour satan. He used Satan in his act directly and disrespected the Cross of freedom. THat's where he went awry. Too bad, he could have been great. And he is bitter, can't you see it?

Love that little salute he does at the end :
"American television networks : At Your Service, Sir."

Yeah I know mate, absolutely brilliant. I'd love to sit down and have a beer with a guy like this.
Covid needed more Bill Hicks
Everything he said still stands today and couldn't me more true. Ahead of his time
Entertainment is suspension of time and space, so that you realize your true nature which is spaceless and timeless
good music does this to me
HAPPY 50TH BILL!

Love ya Bill, miss your good work. I think the world needs more guys like this to put things into perpspective
Bill was a true visionary..he couldn't have been more correct on this. Legend.

I believe Bill was aware of his terminal illness when this was filmed. interesting to think about.
@mynamesrickjames
I think that quote from "eulogy" was directed at L. Ron Hubbard, not Bill Hicks. Great song though.
Bill Hicks would have FUCKING LOVED CZcams
Got to be the glasses hahaha
i can't find a download of the video of this interview anywhere, just the audio...

god damn i love hicks and all you hicks fans out there. now go check out stanhope.
@oatstao he wasn't bitter, he just wanted people to see that things could be much better than they are.
@joznick1 ever hear of the ACLU?
I wonder how he'd feel about modern society.
@lanegwyn Listen to what he says next. 'They'll be chaos on the streets...'
@lanegwyn So true.. we are doomed.
He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
We'll miss him.
I'll miss him.
We're gonna miss him
We're gonna miss him

@joznick1
That's so horrible isn't it, because it's so true.
Not sure if you're referring to Bush Sr. or not, but just saying that Hicks is definitely talking about Bush Sr with that comment. Just friendly FYI.
Freedom of expression is guaranteed, IF YOU'VE GOT THE MONEY
@MirrorSymmetry non sequitur.

Assassinating the president at this point in history is like shooting Punch & Judy, or causing harm to one of Jeff Dunham's dummies.
I would hope that Mr.Lynard Skynard "woke up" eventually from His Hicks encounter....
WTF is wrong with the audio?
@doggypound1 sorry, he's not.If you're considering entertainers, I would say Tom Waits, because he has the good sense to stay away from politics.
Just because Dubya has a very bad record doesn't mean that Clinton wasn't bad too.
God would he love whats going on now. Or maybe not.
Thats gotta be wierd talking about the future knowing your not ganna be there to see it

@doggypound1 Rush Limbaugh IS intelligent. "Rush Limbaugh is most talented educator we have today" who said that? the Reverend Jesse H. Jackson.
@MoebiusPan Prove what? (it is random insults, BTW)
Recorded with a potato
Jeremy S did you buy the new iPhone
Hicks trully hates Bush, but i would have loved to see him live to see W in the white house.
@doggypound1 Yeaaaaaaaaah, like pro-abortion, pro-drugs, chain smoking, random insults lodged at the Southerners, gun-owners, land owners, corporate institutions, and the medical industry. Cool intelligence.
@MirrorSymmetry lol why would the illuminati leave clues like this.. come on now.

We need to move on. It's what Bill would have wanted. Who's got the balls to be the new Bill? The New Bill of Right(s).
@doggypound1 He is intelligent no doubt, but he sadly used it for the wrong method. His soul was sucked out of him faster than he could conjour satan. He used Satan in his act directly and disrespected the Cross
