- The NHL Draft Lottery has taken place and the Montreal Canadiens will be picking fifth overall in the 2024 National Hockey League Entry Draft. In our first segment, we discuss our dream scenario in which the Habs pick Ivan Demidov. In our second segment, we don't think the Habs will or should trade the pick. In our final segment, we talk about this stop in the journey that is the Montreal Canadiens rebuild.

My feeling is that both Chicago and Anaheim are going to take D-men; Silayev looks like an awesome fit in Chicago and Anaheim need to replace Drysdale. With CBJ taking Fantilli last year, I think they'll lean more towards flash/BPA than size, so I see them shooting for Demidov. Lindstrom by all accounts should fall to the Habs, but at 5th there's such a great pool of options available! Can't wait for draft night in June!
Chicago has very little interest in adding a left handed D. It's either Demidov or Levshunov.
Great job, question what if Demidov or Lindstrom is not there at 5, that means that there a lot of defensemen available, and three forwards ( catton, eisermain inginla) all providing a different type of skill set but ranked similarly, that maybe a scenario where you can trade down and still get one of them. What would you do, and who would you pick.

Go watch Sennecke! Size, amazing skills, competitive, gritty! He is slowly climbing the ranks thats why not many people have him high or have heard about him. You'll know who he is by draft day! He's my pick if Lindstrom or Demidov are gone! Just my opinion because Im no expert by any means lol
only team with 2 top 15 picks in this draft is San Jose, 1 & 14 (from Pittsburgh from the Erik Karlsson trade), so that isn't feasible

Demigod nor Lindstrom will be available at 5 ...!!! Habs need scoring ...so trust Hughes to make a match with a SNIPER who will fit the culture in Montreal ...I feel he will do just fine ..WHOEVER it is ....Eiserman ..Senneke ...Iginla ..Catton...TRUST HUGHES ...!!

have you ever watched either play? Iggy is going 9 times out of 10 before Catton. He's barely draft eligible , he's that young. The KK fiasco was because they drafted by position and not best player, total gong show of a franchise. Last year they made the same mistake with drafting doofus at 5 instead of Leonard or Michkov, or Cutter Gauthier.

Simply put: Last year was rich with talented forwards and this year is rich with d-Men. Stupid Habs picked a d-Man last year (ranked 15th) and will be picking a forward this year will be ranked below 10th. If the Habs had chosen Mitchkov or another talented forward last year, they would have the liberty to choose any of the future superstar d-Men available this year. This catastrophic error is going have consequences for years to come. And in 10 years, when we will wonder why we are stuck in the middle of the pack with a "Ok" team, it will be because of this. Imagine if we had picked Mitchkov or Zack Benson or Leonard last year and we were picking Zeev Buium which is way better than Reinbacker. Wow... We'd be shopping for foldable chairs for the Stanley Cup parade already.
