The off-season hot stove is slowly, but surely starting to heat up as buyout rumours abound with the Stanley Cup Final nearly at its end. With Jeff Skinner being one of the biggest names mentioned by Jeff Marek on Tuesday afternoon. If Skinner does end his perfectly cromulent run with the Sabres, could a short stay in Montreal help them round out the top six?
Speaking of big deals and possible buyouts, Filip Hronek cashed in on a monster eight-year extension with the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. With his deal being worth just over seven million dollars a year it brings the question up for the Habs, what does this mean for Mike Matheson's next contract?

Why ? He's a solid presence in the locker.... all these young guys can learn plus with 8 we don't have to rush them

Not sure about extending Matheson at 7.25M per year. Hoping that Hutson, Mailloux, Xhekaj, Bogdan, and Engstrom are light out, lighting the lamp at that time.
Skinner is excellent
I don't really see the connection between a 26-year-old signing for eight years and a 32-year-old signing in two years. Apples and oranges.
why would Habs want Skinner? 1 more year to go before they go all in on the trade and FA market.
why would mtl want to have another small size player.They have enough as it is. Habs need to get more size important to have talented bigger players.
Why in hell would you even discuss a player that is 32 years old to come to Montreal? If he does good for a year or 2 ok in that sense but then that disrupts the flow of where the Canadians want to go and the progress in the rebuild. If you are in a rebuild you use the players you are developing.

He's small but solid ....50 + pts ... why not take a chance can't hurt
