- Tam Thompson entered the Den for £250,000 investment in his company 'ID Scan'. In the first month of trading he had received sales of £10,000 and by month 4, they were on target for £80,000. Who will be up for the expensive ride?
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

I like how the voice-over repeats what happened 1 second ago. Really helps me with my short term memory.
Lol
Yep, they treat us like morons don't they? It all started with Reality tv programmes like 'Big Brother' when you could see the time written on the screen as 12:47 and the voice-over would say: 'Twelve forty-seven'..... they're slowly eroding our brains!
@@goldeneddie Thats a bit different though, things like that are good for visually impaired people or people that aren't looking at the screen but are listening.
fosfeen I like how the voice over repeats what happened 1 second ago. Really helps with my, erm, my...
@@Davidd0411 Well yes, I would applaud it if that was what it was meant to do but that's not how or why it was introduced for British Reality tv, given that visually-impaired voice-overs run side-by-side with the main programme - not within it - and describe the scene fully. Just reading out bits here and there is not support for the blind - it's just dumbed-down tv. Try watching a film or drama with the vi voice-over switched on and you'll see what I mean.
"Hello, my name is Tam Thompson"
Narrator: his name is Tam Thompson
It's "Tom" right? Lol
Tam Tampon 😎
😂.
"Tam just taken a breath of air inwards, filling his alveoli where the oxygen is exchanged with carbon dioxide. Tam has taken another breath of air, yet again enriching his body with precious o2...Tam has yet again inspired oxygen...Tam........"
This was actually funny. Lol
Narrator: "Peter Jones breathed in...then breathed out again"
The narrator describes how Peter Jones was breathing. He was breathing in... and out.
Jenny doesn't breathe in, she only breathes out.
"If that person is underage, it will pop up that this person is underage"
As opposed to the guy reading the card instead of swiping it.
he was implying fake ids
There's also the "universal" side of it. Not all ID's from country to country look the same. Your bouncer may recognise an ID from the UK at a glance, but in Europe (and that hasn't changed yet, despite brexit) lots of people travel to different capital cities and go out. Is the bouncer familiar with dozens of different ID's from different countries? I had a thing like that once, and I spent 10 minutes at the door waiting for the guy to realise I wasn't underage, just because he wasn't familiar with that type of Identity card.
What I don't like about it is the database side and sharing among businesses. Casinos are equiped for that and closely watched, but why would I allow a random bar to store my ID on a database?I'm not going to freak out shouting that they want the gvt to chip me, sure, but those id's still offer data that can be used commercially (country of origin, adress, age, gender leads to info about target audience, outreach, commercial prospects), and that's something I don't want to be part of.
@@k.v.7681 take it easy kid it's just a tv show
It'd be good for foreign ID's with non-english script. Working in the doors in London you had to turn away people with Cyrillic, Thai or Arabic script ID's as you can't read them.

It's amazing how businesses back in the day can just share personal details with other businesses and don't get called out for doing so.
They still do it, you just don't have the opportunity to know so.
Yes. Amazing how Zuckerberg et al saw that and went "we really shouldn't exploit that by setting up free messaging and image-sharing platforms and then selling our users data to absolutely anyone who wants it, including very shady political actors. That would be IMMORAL. 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑

Back in the day? Google "buy database," you can buy database of personal browsing data right now if you want.
I like Farleigh. Unlike the others, he was rarely interested in making TV-friendly 'quotable quotes'. Very straightforward and always polite. James Caan I like for the same reason. Imagine this entrepreneur asking him who he is and Farleigh simply tells him. In another video, Duncan (I think) sulked and opted out after the entrepreneur asked him who he was. Of course, this guy is ridiculous for not having done his homework!
Farleigh is brilliant
Imagine pitching this in the modern day with actual Personal Data and GDPR laws hahaha
@Smoket The sharing element with other clubs
@Smoket exactly, all backdoor shit. Just like facebook or google "promised" to keep your data private, and then oopsie... and that shit was made public, just imagine how much is done behind closed doors and imagine what they do with that information; google already admitting to socially engineering the "correct" political mindsets in people by search results, and personalizing advertisements for you, or like amazon Alexa always listening to you even when you're not talking to it to build a profile around everything you are proactively tell you what you need.
The real thing to watch out now for is government getting their fingers in this shit, they already backdoor all these services for "security" purposes, but then they'll start pushing this shit on you and you won't even be able to say no like you can to the tech giants by refusing to use their services. Reminds of that time when in UK they were trialing public face scanners for again "security" reasons, and some guy covered his face as he walked by, they fined him... Worst part no one talks about this shit, even after snowden everyone seems to have forgotten, but then they'll give you an entire spiel on China's social system or Russia blocking internet that they got from "news". What good is it pointing at those places when you own ass is getting thoroughly lubed up for some minority report type fuckening of a century.
May this control freak shit all burn down.

Cypher791 a forgers dream, all that data out there to use
It says it must clearly state to you that by entering the establishment that it collects this data and what it shall do with the data. You will of course be asked to agree or be made aware that by entering the establishment that you agree to those terms. It should also make available to you a route to be able to ask what data they hold and who the data controller is (named person). As we can see from the card reader there’s no user input to agree to those terms which would require a huge fucking sign in front of the customer to satisfy that they’ve made the customer aware (reasonably). If this was used as a nightclub entry system and stored the data then it could be easily argued that customers who are drunk can’t reasonably be responsible for entering contracts or agreements like that, in those situations.
