Man, the CGI on Thanos is amazing here. The quality varies a bit throughout the movie, I think. He never looks less than good, but in some sequences he looks fantastic, like this one.
There were several VFX Studios working on this and Endgame all of whom use different software, so they all had their own unique (but nearly identical) versions of this 3d model. On top of they all each had multiple versions of it with more or less detail depending on how close the camera is. I always found that super impressive because while the quality can change it never looks like a different model, even down to the lighting, despite using different renderers and models.
I think its dependant on the lighting and saturation. The softer green colours in this scene contrast well with the purple, resulting in a more photorealistic look. This doesn't work in darker and more dimly lit scenes (or scenes with darker colours) because there's no contrast and it creates a more video gamey visual style.

I believe from BTS, he filmed separately from most of the cast, and it was greenscreening and props he could throw around being "smaller than him". I've never actually fully analyzed it, but I think most of Thanos shots are him alone on the screen (but talking to someone just off cam) or fast paced action that could be CGIed like Spidey, Iron Man, etc

He's then pursued like he's a runaway convict.
His lover then has to kill him (on his command so that's fine and dandy) only for the a big, purple, roided up freak to reverse time and proceed to crush his skull.
But it doesn't end there!
A few years later his lover, who killed him the first time, creates an alternate version of him who experiences... *inhales intensively*
His artifical kids being born, them aging rapidly, lies being told about his reality, watches his lover torture innocent people's minds, having to fight a clone of himself (in his real self's body), coming to the realization that his kids will perish when his lover takes down her own pocket universe, proceeds to perish himself.
But don't worry, Wanda will probably try to bring him back again only to put him down like a rabid dog.

@@Shinyboy29 The Russo Brothers and the other writers explained that. He took the Mind Stone from the Grandmaster who owned the Mind Stone before Thanos took it from him years before he started looking for the other Infinity Stones. It was confirmed in an interview with one of the writers.

That's what I like about Thanos in Infinity War. He is not as generic as he was in Endgame. He actually shows respect, compassion and understanding to his enemies, as he lost (personally) as much as them.
Thanos has been one of my favourate villains so far (in infinity war anyway) he isn't necessarily a bad being, he saw what happened to his own planet and wanted to ensure life everywhere else still could exist
I think the only issue with his whole character is that with all the stones, he could just increase the amount of resources in the universe rather than decimate the population.
It implies that perhaps he is slightly evil, though the films try to humanise him. I wish there was an explanation as to why he didn't seek alternative methods rather than to just kill half the universe.

I love how the stones have unique looks, besides being of different color, obviously. The power stone looks like a purple pebble, while the space stone is much more of a crysal like one of those that you can grow yourself. The reality stone is deep red, almost black at some spots. The soul stone looks like amber and the time stone like emerald

Okay but think about the LONG GAME of this
Thanos wanted the space stone most. He wanted it so then he could just teleport to the other ones and it'd be no biggie. He found the mind stone, he had that one to start, but he gave it to Loki so that he could get him that sweet space stone. Loki failed, etc. etc. and the mind stone that was Thanos' eventually became Vision. Space stone is chilling in Asgard now so that kinda complicates things but Thanos gets the power stone in preparation for Ragnarok, Ragnarok happens, and he uses the opportunity to grab the space stone. Then, wham, he teleports to the other ones and it's no biggie. After all this time, all this effort, the last stone Thanos needs is the first one he ever had, that he gave up in an effort to get the other ones. And he would have lost this one forever, except now he has all the other stones, so even this is still no biggie
