Peter Parker became a superhero at 15, almost IMMEDIATELY attracted the attention of the richest man and most famous hero in the world (Tony Stark), fought several Avengers literally days later, went to space, died for five years, had his entire identity revealed to the whole world, met two versions of himself from alternate universes as well as a bunch of their enemies (which, if they end up existing in his world too, will be an even WEIRDER experience), and then to top it all off he had his whole identity erased. Wild stuff. Hulk is a brilliant scientist, has like a billion doctorates, and then one day he accidentally becomes a giant green rage monster but only sometimes, then he kills a bunch of people but also helps save the world, falls in love with Scarlett Johansson but she dies, he goes to space for a while but doesnt remember it because he was the rage monster the whole time, then finds a way to become a rage monster but without the rage, then to top it all of he accidentally turns his cousin into a mini-rage monster (the rage is mini, not the monster. You get it) only to IMMEDIATELY go back to space and find out he has a space son.

I would argue this is the best sequence in the whole of the MCU. I know the series is fully of pure gold, but this one is just too good. The good-natured ribbing cuts through the generations between Steve and Sam (and Natasha at the end), the serious tone when Sam recognizes Steve may not be entirely home from the war, Steve pointing out how the world is better. It is, as you pointed out, perfect.
Drax is actually in this scene. He's just so incredibly still.

Yeah, it didn't hit me until my second rewatch of the MCU on how odd it was that Sam just gets included, while at the same time making perfect sense given the guy he is and how him and Steve Rogers immediately connected.
Steve definitely knows how to pick best friends. Would love to know what screening processes he uses.
One could say the same for Steve. Just a scrawny kid from Brooklyn going to the movies when we first met him. And then you have Scott Lang in a jail cell. Not everyone is as rich or famous as Stark or Strange or Thor. Sometimes the true heroes are just regular people who give a damn about the world, and do what what is can.
I definitely knew he'd be a good character based on Anthony mackie playing him. Just didn't know he'd be pivotal to the MCU
The chemistry between Sam, Steve and Natasha was just so great.

Let me give a shout-out to an underappreciated detail in the movie: the way Black Widow looks at Sam. She is smiling just a little bit, memorizing his face (like a good spy would), giving the tiniest hint of a flirt to play with him ... And Sam responds with a wholesome and slightly interested nod.
Every single time black widow was on screen she was working and playing 5D chess in the background, especially in the mall

What’s so good about this scene is just how natural it feels. So many movies today don’t give characters breathing room and time to interact like normal people and it’s scenes like this that show why we need them.

I've watched this clip a few times. I know they met because the script demanded it, of course. But if we're looking at this through a real-life lens, the fact that Sam was the only other person out there running, gave Cap a glimpse into Sam's work ethic. In this case, preparation met opportunity.

This scene sets the fact that these two people are a lot alike and foreshadows more interactions between them at a more meaningful level later in the film. It's a bromance arc between these two which only fully ends at the end of Endgame.

I love the little camera trick at 0:36, Steve runs out of the shot but actually runs away to the left; the camera then pans around and we're actually seeing a double way in the distance.
Little "practical effect" there, so much better, and also cheaper than the CGI overkill that the MCU became just a few years later.
I just realized at 0:36, after Steve runs past Sam, there was a cut that made Steve way farther ahead then he should’ve been just to emphasize how fast he is! Love these little details!

This scene is great to me because Steve is content to have a normal friendly interaction, and Sam shoots his one shot. You ever meet a celebrity before? It's like that. You get one chance to say something worth remembering. Sam says the right thing.
Sam is also being a counselor here. He wasn't just shooting the breeze; from his experience, he knew that Cap was probably struggling and wanted to help him. In addition, he gives him an excuse to come by the VA so that he could talk to him further. Even here Sam is on the job, which makes him such a good person and worthy to be Captain America.

Love how they tied this into Endgame. These little moments that they connect back to is what makes Marvel so great.
The amount of times Cap says "On your left" is so fricking funny, and Sam totally gets payback for it in Endgame.
Also Sam's lines of both "Uh-huh, on my left, got it" and "Don't say it. Don't you dare say it!"

I've always really enjoyed stuff like this in superhero films, where they show the MASSIVE difference between the regular humans and the modified supe-rpowered ones. Seriously, it's incredible thinking that Steve Rodgers could run like that, full exertion, for long enough to have the sky in the background go from dark to morning. And he didn't even SWEAT. I wish more films did stuff like that where the super powered main characters have to change how they interact with the world around them, or else they reveal their powers.
That’s almost 4 minutes per mile just a little under he ran . I ran a 4:15 mile once a a decade back taking pre energy stuff that elevate your blood cells with more oxygen and had adrenaline like effects on your body,it is was banned within a year it was out so if I was on the serum I’d probably e doing 3 minute miles for a sustained period like Steve . 🤫

Cap and Sam have such great dialog. Sam is one of Marvels best creations. he is the everyman who keeps finding himself in extraordinary situations and still rises to the challenge.
Sam treated him like a regular dude, that’s how they became friends and Sam became an Avenger.

This scene sums up everything that is now wrong with the MCU, simply because this is so incredibly great. The subtlety of the performance, the quality script, the superb direction. The Cap America films are the standard by which all other MCU films should be measured; they are failing that test miserably I'm afraid. I would like to add that I listened to Trouble Man for the first time last night; Sam is spot on in his analysis.
Plus humor that actually lands and isn't trying too hard to do so.
when a movie gets too big, they have too many cameos, too many plot lines, instead of just focusing in one movie, they had to surround it with every other movie.
Its unfortunate, but it is what it is.
Because if they don't, people will leave comments like, so what is Thor doing, why isn't he here to help out with this big bad, why is Spiderman now here, why is this person that was introduced in that last movie not here to help...etc The big giant stone statue in the ocean
The MCU is too big now, the world is becoming too small, where 1 person having a battle with an entity is now being questioned on why isn't other super heroes helping in this fight...etc
Its becoming harder for them to tell individual stories anymore.
Its why they are introducing space, if they can send different superheroes to space or different realms, they can finally say each superhero is busy doing their own thing so they can't help.
And it will open up more individual stories that is more intimate than what we are getting now.

This scene was so well done. It also puts more focus on military servicemen who've done their time. I just wish they had a scene with Steve helping homeless veterans get the help they need.
Evidence that Winter Soldier is one of (if not the best) written MCU movies. It also had the single best fight choreography in any MCU movie.
WS is a proof you can have a MCU superhero movie with more serious tone, especially in the final act, but does not fall into Zack Snyder category of desaturated, joyless pile of pretentious garbage pretending to be deep. Also i like how in fight between Cap and Bukcy you can feel the weight of hits, unlike Shang Chi, which of course was made by Jackie Chan crew and looked nice, but a lot of hits felt like just showing off for the camera.

I envy you. I grew up in the 80s reading Marvel and knew most of the beats going into every movie and story arc. You are lucky not knowing what was going to happen before it happened. Like hearing your favorite band for the first time ever. You can only live it once.

Usain Bolt hit nearly 28 mph or 44.5km/h between the 60 and 80 meter mark during his world record 100 meter dash. So Cap's morning jog was a shade slower than the fastest a human has ever run, but he maintained that speed for 1000x the distance.

All of Cap's old friends were gone, and no one was really filling that void. Nick Fury needed 'Captain America'. The Avengers were co-workers, and Natasha, as kind as she could be, was always holding back in her friendship with Steve in a way she didn't with Clint. So Sam really was the first real friend Steve had made since dethawing, and I loved that it was simple. They met each other running and connected over being soldiers. What you see is what you get. It's earnest. Exactly what Steve and Sam needed after losing best friends.
I love the instant friendship they had. I cried when Sam said "On your left" in Endgame. ❤

I remember watching this film as a kid on theatre and that loud music at 2:47 echoed throughout the hall and I realized that this shit is about to get real... Still gets the goosebumbs.
The dialogue and pacing to the beginning of this movie - and frankly, the entire movie - is so well-done
Notice how Cap is ready to walk away after some small talk, but Sam immediately hones in on Cap's background as a soldier and is able to identify why he was up that early. He has a keen intuition as to the struggles of others, and that earned him the shield.
Yea nice little detail how Cap wants to end the conversation after Sam brings up how he’s a man out of his own time (which was still kind of a sore subject to cap at the time) but he manages to reel him back in with something they can both relate to

I love how much this scene let's us get to know Steve beyond just being Captain America. They show Steve's fun side while effortlessly highlighting that he has zero prejudice against people of colour like so many others had in his time. Probably due to him being bullied for his size and frailty before the serum.

This might sound weird but this is one of my favourite movie openings. Just the simplicity but such a well designed scene.
Gotta say, 79000 MCU films later, and Captain America: Winter Soldier is still my favourite, with Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 and Endgame close behind, as well as Black Panther and Shang Chi behind those.
I see our tastes are similar.

What I love about this scene is how Sam was the first person who cap was able to truly connect with since coming back. He was able to talk with Steve about something deeply personal and not like a god amongst men like everyone else did
The conversation about the bed was easily the most believable part of the entire thing. In OIF1, I slept on the ammo palet for a Bradley at one point. When I came home, the beds were too soft, and the outside was too quiet.

@@danielhaire6677 It took me about 7 months only to adapt to sleeping 5-6 hours straight w/o waking up multiple times. It was way too quiet and the bed was uncomfortable. Even after couple years had passed i still wasnt able to consistently maintain peaceful sleeping schedules. At some point i resorted to having loud music to be able to sleep.

This is one of my favorite scenes in the MCU. It's just a couple guys getting to know each other. The banter between them is excellent.

I miss when the mcu played their movies straight. Like this scene is packed full of jokes but they land so much better when they're delivered like this
That’s because the current MCU movies feel like they deliver their jokes with a laugh track
Because the humour is natural. An MCU film now would have Cap running by dressed as Lightning McQueen and saying Ka-Chow as he passes. Then Sam would say, "Must've been weird coming out of that ice," followed by Steve saying, "It wasn't very cool. Oh wait," awkward pause so the audience can laugh at the bad pun that the serious and stoic Captain America about his recent trauma.
Sam wasn't afraid to get a good look at the Widow, and she took notice. That was a cool scene right there.

Supersoldier serum doesn't make him that strong, because he was fighting regular trained humans and he took them out pretty easily but not too easily. In winter Soldier, the elevator scene, it took multiple punches to knock people out. He does have enhanced speed and strength but he's not superman lol. In civil war, he and bucky double teamed tony and his defensive functions were off. Tony got disoriented at best because of constant back and forth hits from bucky and steve. At that point his suit was a very heavy armour so not in combat condition. And cap only did manage to get a precise hit on the arc reactor and shut down the suit, because no one wanted to kill anyone, it was just a bar fight minus the bar. 3 guys wanting their way and fighting to come out on top.
If some info here is wrong, i apologise. I watched entire mcu before infinity war but i haven't seen anything since.
This was the best MCU film, I don't care what anybody says. The scene where he exposes Hydra to the rest of SHIELD and then the guy refuses to launch the carriers, saying it's "Captain's orders;" that was epic! It really has some of the best writing you'll see anywhere!
This scene hits different after I finished The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
There's a sincerity to Steve that's so appealing. He's not an innocent, and not exactly wide-eyed, but you get the feeling that you could trust him immediately.
The country he's named for can say the same thing when it's living up to its best ideals.
People think their generation invented swears and sex. So when he swears (which happens very rarely) or mentions sex, people are surprised and look at him like "WTF???"
In the comics, Black Panther once noted that in a world of uncertainty, that if you chose to follow Steve Rogers, you could sleep well knowing you were on the right side of history.

Anugrahk Muraleedas aquaman was okay, I didn’t like Shazam. Shazam and the kid were like two completely different characters. Whenever he was a kid he was so morbid, low energy, low voice, depressed. But when Shazam he was like some hyper kid, high pitched voice, 10 year old witty kid, who was on a sugar rush. They were completely different, completely opposite, it bothered me so much. I’m surprised other ppl didn’t catch on to it. Billy as a kid was fucking annoying crybaby emo kid, but Shazam was the completely oppposite, didn’t make sense.?

Soon as Sam brings up his past being frozen Cap was out of the conversation, all he probably hears from everyone is about his legend and his come back. Sam instantly realizing Steve's disinterest in his legend he switches gears and talks to him soldier to soldier as equals and that pulls Steve back into the conversation. Steve never believed he was better than anyone for any reason let alone him being a super soldier.
