This is like a completely different song. I can't believe I'm hearing more prime Future Days material
It's like they carried on the torch that the early Floyd was carrying until they went super commercial with Dark Side in 1973
@@Schwertfisch13 CAN was in a completely different world though, even their stuff from 69 is a lot different from any of PF's stuff
@@Schwertfisch13 That’s right. Floyd would often change songs when performing live. Two of the most experimental groups in rock.
Every single song they ever played outside the studio is like that. If you like this style of long-form slow buildup CAN, then nearly every single live they played is the best CAN you've ever heard. There's over 50 lives on soulseek. They should all be on Spotify really, every single one of them is completely new and super enjoyable
Amazing, good quality. Damo, Jacki, Michael, Holger and Irmin just cooking. Throwing everything in including the kitchen sink. Wow what a gig. Saw them in London.
lucky
Can is fantastic. I'm a young 64 y/o from S.F. I had Austrian friends and a NY buddy who told me about Can. Saw Dagmar Krause perform. Wow 👌
You could rarely tell what Damo was saying, and I never cared. I saw Can play in 1974 just after the album Future Days came out, but he had left by then. It is wonderful to have this piece from the end of his time with the band. It would be great if there were a live version of Future Days (the track).
+Dylan Bickerstaffe Damo didn't care either...XD
I saw Damo live a few days ago and could barely understand anything, but it was incredible
I would've given my right nut to see CAN live. Damo sums it up best in the BBC Krautrock documentary: "I don't have a much a memory. At the time I was a quite stoned. And a...that's it."
Always nice to see a fellow Bickerstaffe!
@@frenchguitarguy1091 Singing is a very natural human skill. There are very little of the 7.950.000.000 People on earth, they can not sing at all. Mr. Suzuki is one of them. A dazzler that doesn't fit this extraordinary band at all. But he wasn't allowed to bawl there for very long either.

They're good lads.
hell yeah
When I was three years old.
never heard this version
but was in search of the album version
The harmonics Holger is playing sound like Father Cannot Yell.
This incredible... A true hidden gem
still love it!!
Wow...Can ..sinds i first heard them in 1970..they have been on personal top 10 of bands...the first of the postrock bands
F...en Fantastic! what another wonderful sonic journey from the best improvisional ever, just wish Damo had returned sooner!
I didn't know about this one. Love it!
I love how the photos fade into each other. This version of "Bel Air" sounds completely different from the "Future Days" version, but is equally cool. Thanks for posting. ;-)
on some recordings of the Edinburgh set its listed as "Stone Strike", so it would be one of their 'instant compositions' performed on stage.
This was Damo's last gig with them.
that's interesting to know - he's kind of on fire here, bit of shame eh?
Interesting to know this, thx
Lovely.
Thanx.
Damo's vocals are part of the sound. Both his voice and lyrics were the spark that drove Can to record their best albums. But listening to him also makes me think there's no way a band like Can could ever gain success in today's modern culture. Today's audiences would have trashed Can, especially Damo, mercilessly. Yes, retrospectively, we know he is a legend, but if he was brand new on the scene, no one would have given him a chance, sadly.
Idk about that, I think they're chops r timeless and would receive recognition if it came out today easily.
@@russellhenrybieber6620 Nah, people would trash the second half of “Tago Mago” as self-indulgent rubbish, and would make fun of Damo’s vocals. It’s a crappy world we live in.
@@psychedelicpiper999 Nah just look at Swans, or godspeed you black emperor, plenty of room for dense experimental musicans to make it despite the boomers telling you good music docent exist anymore.
@@russellhenrybieber6620 Ehhh, they’re alright. Too much droning. I do like some other modern artists here and there, though, but they were trashed for going experimental. Hence why I’m saying people in my generation (millennials) and zoomers aren’t really accepting of experimental music like the boomers were.
I’ve seen the same critics who praised Godspeed, You Black Emeperor and Swans, trash MGMT and Animal Collective for being too “self-indulgent”.
@@psychedelicpiper999 Yeah but Mgmt and Animal Collective didn't go from making poppy indie music to making 20 min long post rock compositions they went on to make poppy indie music with some psychedelic flare and interesting recording techniques. Experimental? sure. Full blown avent Gaurde? Nah, that's reserved for artists like beefheart, can, velvet underground, residents, the fall, Zappa, etc, All of whomst have cult like followings that kept em financially afloat. If Can burst on the seen today im sure they would be able to gain one of these cult followings. But I will say that America is particularly brutal to exipermental musicals and they would def fare better in Europe.
Way Out ! Dig, shake your groove, baby
Yes, that's a completely different Sound like the studio version ... but also so good
Actually that is incorrect, although I think that is what the Can book says also. I saw them in a double bill with Amon Duul 2 in Frankfurt on October 3, 1973. Don't know if that was their last Damo gig or not.
27:05 You have to be utterly twisted inside to do do that in pure improvisation, it's like the devil himself is handling those sticks. It's kind of hard to believe that Jaki was an otherwise normal person in day to day life, after hearing that.
КАН наш чувак✌️💊🌸
годно!
He was Japanese, and actually the nonsense of what he was saying adds to the ambient side of the music.
Similar to Neu! we're the voice was just part of the colouring for the music it went with.
who cares about his pronounciation it's suppose to add to the whole sound so stop picking at it as u you won't hear any other band as good as can. he makes sounds like the band makes colours. so who are you to debate whether damo cannot pronounce his words or not . sit back shut your eyes and enjoy one of the best bands you'll ever likly to hear or to trip too the rythyms are unbelievable. enjoy and stop bickering. from jemie.
ahhhhhhhhhhhh odime povtorno
CAN . der Name ist Programm, klingt wie aus der Konservendose.
It circulates. There's a Yahoo group that trades rare Can. It's been on dimeadozen too.
nice

Can's swan song
Why do some ["too many"] people react negatively to this complimentary comment?
Is this available commercially? Bootleg?
a bootleg.good commercials: tago mago, delay 1968, mother sky and the kraut-band:: "faust" (and you look like me ?!)
R, L, consonants
Damo Suzuki drives a Honda
This sounds pretty improvised. The studio version is thankfully much better, but that's understandable.
The improvised live stuff was amazing....
All their stuff was improvised. The studio stuff was edited together from hours of jamming.
Damo left the band to become a Jehovahs Witness, but he's ok now...Endless Tour
Yeah, I feel bad the Damo era of Can didn't last longer, but watching a recent interview of his made me realize he'd have left sooner or later anyway. Singing with the same musicians for 4 years was already really trying on him. He's really restless and now literally has to sing with different musicians every time he performs to keep himself happy.
because modern stupidity is just a click away.
