I was lucky enough to see Can 3 or 4 times in the early 70's, when I was about 17-18. Their music really changed the way I thought about music and the world in geneeral. Surrealist music to dream by. Irmin Schmit rarely gets a mention in Can posts but I used to love watching the way he chopped up his Farfisa organ. Brilliant. And I'm still listening regularly all these years later. Thank you Can.
Oh, ma you were so lucky, being about 13/14 and living in the USA (Southern California) there was no way for me to see them, But I did buy this album, as I did know of Krautrock and thought the cover looked cool and have loved "much" of the Can stuff ever since...!
Reminds me of when I slept out on the porch of the house I grew up in...and listened to the trippiest sounds ever, from a local late night station...it still feels so magical, all these years later....
@@raleighkirschman2011 I like the whole Krautrock, classic - jazz rock, also Blues... especially from the 60s, 70s and 80s. I enjoy it every day... with a special stone; )
Alex It’s funny that you mention Radiohead because Thom Yorke has cited Can’s music as a strong influence on him, particularly on their song “There There”. So yeah... Interesting observation. :)
for a vocalist to pour out their emotions like this is rare good trip
I am still mesmerised at the originality of Can, they should be listened to today as they are inspiring.

And what a spine-tingling, intoxicating, truly wondrous way to finish off this masterpiece album.
Amen.

This song is surreal when properly dosed

One of the best songs in an incredibly stacked discography. Bunch of fucking genius wizards making the most timeless music in history.
Rest in peace Damo
always loved this one-- I think it gets overlooked. It goes in a really sweet direction. It's a sublime side of Can
My absolute favorite part is from 4:37 to 6:40. It is like a super-cool mini tune within the larger piece.
There is nothing memorable or catchy in this song, but I couldn't stop listening to it years ago. It's hypnotic and absorbing!
And now they have found Holger, gone off to the big jam in the sky...
Rest in Power, Jaki!
my favorite song by Can
you are objectevely correct
@@GamingPenis i agree.
But is there truth in aesthetics??
@Chaos University Yes, its a special track - the vocals and the instrumental sound - perfect!
Like being thrown across a room in slow motion.
My first can Album, so many years ago, still loving it!!
@Helia Oliveira Yes Helia, its so great - also Ege Bamyasi💕
How can a song make twenty minutes feel like one?
Perfect words!
DMT
Amazing to listen to, on lsd, during a rainstorm
I have very distinct tripping memories of this track too, years ago but still vivid.
No need for drugs listening to this. This piece IS the drug.
Only psilocybin, a non-drug. Sorry!!
@@kazoshay no tripping on a non-drug!!!!
@@raleighkirschman2011 You said it.Is Love.
"Future Days" from 1973, the last Can album with Damo Suzuki..
the best drummer full stop
Dennis Benzle
I think maybe The Oh Sees drummers will eventually maybe get there.
One of the best, yes!!
Not that different from a car
Top 3 drummers. I.- Pierre Moerlin. 2.- Jaki Liebezeit. 3.- Bill Bruford!
100% agree ! One of the best drummer in the world .
Pure genius.
Best bassline ever at 4:30
Hair raising bassline
Morsomt å høre CAN kore, danne kor.
Your always searching for the sound in the obscurity but always return to bel air don't you?
spinning down alone, you spin alive......................
the part that starts at 9:15 makes me feel like I died and am walking through a portal to the next life
can say that about a lot of can songs. 'oh yeah' makes me feel that way.
Its just exellent
Wtf is that whistling sound in the background though? A hungry cat? Air rushing out a congested nostril?

What the hell does life even mean? That fuckin grove at 4:30 is awesome.
existence is greater than "life" and, god-forbid, "death."

I wish that gorgeous ASMR-inducing section starting at about 12:25 went on a bit longer...
After listening to the first 4 minutes of this, dig a song by The Buzzcocks called "Sitting Round At Home". I think they lifted the melody from this.
Future Days was released in 1973, Buzzcocks were formed in 1976
Sitting round at home released `79

15:43 my favourite part. ✨
👌!!!
Is the album cover breathing, or is that just the acid I'm on right now?
That's a cliche, friend.
Psilocybin. not LSD!
oh, oh this is good. maybe the only song to recapture the spirit of European Son which it was obviously inspired by
Obviously.

does anyone know what kind of bird is singing in the quiet parts? 09:26
Possibly a Red Kite, circling above waiting to eat Damo Suzukis sandwich.
The ride cymbal right at the end reminds me of Radiohead's Reckoner

Allen M. Zimmerman I know I’m years late but Radiohead covered the mooney era can for a live show. They played the song thief
