- Polaris is changing the game again with the new Polaris Xpedition and Xpedition ADV. At a 5 seater price of $33k to $45k, you have to ask, can you build a comparable rig from CanAm? As long as you can live without A/C, ride command, full hard enclosure with automotive grade doors and windows, an additional power, you can get fairly close. Check out the video for full details.

I've been out of
the off-road game for 10 years. I had a place in Duck Creek UT when I lived in Vegas. I lived and breathed for trails. I can't believe how far these have evolved. Impressive. I live in Florida now, and there are only mud parks and private land to ride on down in South Florida. I live in a cart friendly city so I can have a side by side on the streets. I may have to go shopping for a new Polaris or Can-Am.
Yeah nice machine but the real question is will it catch on fire😂😂😂
I think the person that is buying this doesn’t really care that’s it’s 40-50k. They have the money to have a expensive toy and that’s what they want. If I was that person, yes I would have one, tag it here in NC and drive it on the road sometimes.
Its nice and heat and A/C would be great for extended rides with the kids to extend the riding season. I wish they would have made such a complete package for the RZR pro xp 2 and 4 seat. I would love to have some of those factory options with it. Hell, it's 1750 plus tax for soft upper factory doors for the Pro. Those windows still zip🙄 cant roll up and down.
The expedition would be more complete with 32"- 33" tires, beadlocks, and a more powerful motor just for a start. $45k for a 114hp ride that weights up to 2,800 lbs with no one and no gear in it? I would probably get a jeep if i was at those price points cause i cant rip the expedition the way i would want to anyway. Great video!
In Minnesota there are very few trails rated for orv (65” or wider) so the whole buy a jeep thing doesn’t really work. I’ve always wanted a northstar general and now we have it.
I watch a video of people that have drove the New Polaris Xpedition said they is a lot of motor noise is the cab. The motor is right under the back seat. You have to talk load to just cover up the motor. They say 200 miles on a tank of gas. They only got 100 miles on there first tank. Big diff then what they come out with. I well stick with my Can-Am x3 Max .
I have a north star ranger heat and air is beautiful
I think this is probably the best looking rig polaris has ever made. But with that said still same ole clutch and belt system, and transmission design. For the price they should have worked on some better clutching and transmission system, just saying when you hit 4000 plus miles are we going to start seeing those problems that polaris has always had.
Is it hot for the rear passengers? Is is loud as hell?
How do you get access to the motor?
Having a northstar an a rzr i can not figure why they haven’t used the ac and heat to other rides rzr or even a general seems to be a lot of r an d just for one ride
Man I'm always upgrading my Hd10XTCab Defender.
Front and rear windshields.
Metal bottom half doors
Zip windows
30" tires
Ram phone mount
Seatbelt softies
Extended door latches for airflow
K and n air filter
On board rc heater
4 light bars and 4 pods ( 2 light bars front and rear and 2 pods driver and passenger)
In bed tool box
Bed cover from rotokap
Glove box storage
Under seat storage
Front cubbie net
Roof rack
Front and rear battle bumpers
Front wench with extended controller
Recovery gear
Shovel and axe mounted on board
5 Jerry cans
And I'm sure I'm missing somethings. Basically several thousand in extras but I love my machine. I own a new 1 ton ram and a new tundra and the defender eats them both for breakfast off road even with both trucks having thousands in aftermarket suspension upgrades. The ram actually hauls the defender on the bed using a truck boss truck deck and yeah it's an 8 foot bed with ramp extensions for the 13 foot defender. Yes we do get dusty, cold and hot but all at a very minimum and I have claimed 5° rock faces in the defender, gone through snow, ice, rain, deep mud, and sand so Can am is still my go to for the W.
Ac on these hot running machines.. it's what makes sense but they don't blow cold enough to work efficiently. I'd much rather have my 20k less general xp4 ultimate that I went with. I still have to decide which uppers but having front and rear glass and going with a heater will be plenty. When I ride in cold Temps I usually dress for the weather anyway. In nicer weather I like fresh air not a closed cab that's why I enjoy the sport to begin with. On the jeep note, I have a 97 wrangler tj I bought in 2002 and they are totally different animals. Yes I run a basic trail with each one after that no comparison. I can run 75 on the highway having conversations. I can flat tow my wrangler behind the rv across the country. I won't rip it through the dunes. I have 14 " of travel on the general. I would send the general over the jeep if there were a track and the means but not vice versa. The general has 5x the power on tap its roomier, more comfortable etc. Specs out like this Jeep TJ 155 x 66 x 71 lwh general 150 x 66 x 77. I don't have the general street legal yet but I live rural and my county allows them on all back roads and up to a mile on blacktop to get between backroads and up town to get gas groceries etc with just an orv sticker.
I'm pretty sure in the video I seen an extra belt back there. Imagine that when is polaris gonna make there drive system more reliable. Big reason I bought a yamaha 10 year belt warranty on there machines.
I paid $48k for my power wagon new in 19. $38k new for my Wrangler JLU in 18. Maybe i've reached the official age of old man grumbles "everything is too expensive" but.. $45k+ for a utv that likely wont see 30k miles is insane. I understand inflation changes those numbers but you can still buy my exact pick up used for $44k with 35k miles today.
noticed a spare belt in the back. is that normal to carry?
Not sure, but I carry a extra belt for all of my machines anyways.
Go up in the tent
At that price, Pro R please
If jeep came out with a 64inch model. It would put this xpedition out of business.
The Polaris is pretty cool and all but I'm wondering is Garrett getting younger? Or are the rest of us just getting old 🧐 🤯
😂😂 you’re not the first to say something like that. -Garrett
@@DerangedOffRoad i may need to pay your garage another visit! 😆
😂😂 come on over!!
Amazing what dropping a few lbs will do. 😜 -Joe
@@DerangedOffRoad 🤣 time to hop back on the atvs and dirt bikes i say!
If we are spending over $40k why not get the Robby Gordon El Jeffe?
Those are apples and oranges. Ones a true sport, ones an adventure rig. -Joe
El jefe sweet suspension is cool
I can get a KRX for 25k that rides as good as Speed UTV if we are talking suspension. -Garrett
@@DerangedOffRoad true with that live valve so far i think El jefe has KRX power but not Pro R or X3 power
@@allmotorhash exactly correct, we added a supercharger as well and still way under the cost of a Speed UTV. -Garrett

thats 50000+$ up here in Canada. way too much. i can close up my 2019 wolverine x2 and still be less. also a lot more reliable.imo.
Since when has can-am EVER competed with polaris? No answer to ride command or active suspension... creature comfort? Nothing... on but some machines are a tad faster. ??? I surprised they don't offer an old school boom box in attempt to offer "something " 😅
Can-am was X3s dominated anything Polaris had 6 or 7 years ago. Polaris has now caught up and surpassed Can-Am on nearly every front now. I’m a Can-Am guy but they better get more serious about updating their machines or they are going to get left behind even further. X3s seriously need stronger frames roll cages, and double sheer suspension mounting points. Interiors and shock technology is also now way behind not only Polaris but Honda and Kawasaki. They need more modern optional technology as well. Navigation and such in all their models.
no trailer needed either
It a beautiful looking rid, but hell no ! Not worth the price tag. I would rather buy a jeep or a Tacoma. Please folks don’t buy this rig till the lower the price.
too much coin
"As long as you can live without A/C, ride command, full hard enclosure with automotive grade doors and windows, an additional power, you can get fairly close." Dumbest statement. You are completely missing the point. I guess a plywood enclosure on a golf cart would be comparable as well?
I daily my talon and highway it too wtfym?
