    Cool absolutely, however, it's getting into the price range of actual everyday usable vehicles and that's just insane, cost more than a Ford Ranger 4x4, Toyota Tacoma 4X4 or Nissan Frontier 4X4 can be had for LESS than the Polaris’s $44,999 USD with no additional options add some extra options it would go WAY higher. A HARD pass for many it’s just too pricey. You must have a lot of disposable income to buy one of these, & it will just sit there in your garage until you have free time to enjoy it. I say this from the perspective of a Polaris 570 ATV owner. I often use the ATV for work & play on the weekends seeing a lot of off-road products & like-minded people, it is an unrealistically priced product perhaps it’ll be purchased by governments. They sell tons of products to the Government, that's for sure. Built one on the Polaris configuration with only one option came to $56,895 no thanks. The bottom line its a lot of money for a one-trick pony.

      @cavscout43 Před 7 měsíci +4

      Heavier and more expensive (inflation adjusted) than a Jeep Cherokee Classic too.
      You'll get a little better handling with the suspension, but when you're pushing over 3k lbs curb weight, it's not going to handle like a RZR XP 1000 or a similar sport UTV.
      Throw in less power, more noise, a fraction of the life, much more uncomfortable, you're still trailering it to the back roads...I've wracked my brain and yet to figure out what the use case and justification is here. I got a new Kawasaki KRX this year for $20k OTD, and it'll absolutely run circles around this lumbering off-road only SUV in every way.
      You could get a 4-door Wrangler Rubicon for a better price than this as well.

      1) the performance
      2) price
      3) looks
      4) "luxury"

    Hey ! Good video as always DT Crew, the opening line is me to a "T" I have never been a big Polaris fan but I always loved how they are improving and innovating with new stuff all the time. (along with Can Am) That Expedition is such a nice machine, the interior is nicer than my Tacoma haha I also appreciate how you showed a few flaws (shock adjuster and front windshield) to show you aren't bias. You did forgot to touch on the price (unless I missed that haha) but that's the big thing... and I'm a Huge hater on the price of ALL SXS's not just this one, they have gotten way out of hand for what they are. But people keep buying them.... and they make it easy with long term loans and I dont think people understand interest on loans.....
    Also The more I thought about it, the price for someone who owns a business as a guide/hunter, trail tours, even companies who need to get a crew of guys in the back woods to a work location (Powerline, Railway, Oil/gas, surveying) this could be a useful machine, it's just the Everyday trail rider that doesn't have $50,000+ to spend on a off road vehicle is a little out of our budget haha

    A very neat machine with a matrix priced tag. Definitely cool but one major downfalls (at least here in NH) is the weight. 2400lbs dry and 2600 wet would make this machine illegal to ride on trails in our state by 600lbs. Any OHRV registered vehicle has to weigh under 2000lbs. I laugh at seeing these on showroom floors as much as i do turbo s’s and all of the wide machines (our gates are set to 67inches) Not saying it’s not cool, i just can’t fathom it myself.

    • @EC_ATV_Outdoors
      @EC_ATV_Outdoors Před 7 měsíci +7

      @@mingomane1 the point is, pickup has exponentially more engineering, high tech, low tech, versatility etc etc etc. there is no reason to put a price tag higher than something far more capable and versatile.
      This has 1/4 of the engineering and cost to develop.
      Now you want to bring up fitting on trails, well most sxs's don't fit on ATV trails. But fitting on trails is only a minor advantage and if you wanted to work with land owners and clubs, you could get them widened enough.
      Trucks come in off-road models, can be pushed to the limits, as much as any RZR or maverick.
      The point is, Polaris is smoking crack. Want a more simple example...
      Polaris has been making their flagship touring models the same for well over a decade. The only real change was the passenger seat. Manufacturing costs go down as you sell more. So after 10+ years of using the tooling, this year they raised the prices of the 850 and 1000 by $2500-$4000. It's offensive.

    • @cavscout43
      @cavscout43 Před 7 měsíci +6

      @@EC_ATV_Outdoors I have no idea where the trails are that allow a 5 1/2' wide 3000+ lbs UTV, but not a Jeep. They certainly don't exist out here in the Rockies, it's either single track, 50" width, or highway width.
      The 4-door Xpedition is about as long as a Jeep (Cherokee Classic or Wrangler) and narrower/more tippy. So you're going to be concerned about off-camber stuff, but not really turning around any tighter on trails (though a hair easier to pass traffic on the narrow stuff)
      It's pretty universal from reviews that it's miserably loud in the cab as well, and no one wants to talk about long term costs of ownership. Off road CVTs aren't a "change the trans fluid every 40-50k miles and you'll get 200k miles out of your transmission" type of scenario. Seeing an older RZR make it to 10k miles is a massive achievement that few people can claim, and they usually have a robust laundry list of everything they had to upgrade and replace to keep it running.
      This is entirely catering to geriatric retirees (or wealthy ranch owners) who already have the $100k King Platinum Viagra Ranch Bald Eagle edition dually diesel pulling a 35' semi truck sized RV and then a tandem UTV trailer behind that. And they're going to be a $55k golf cart on gravel roads for 95% of people who can afford to buy them.

    Haters be hating, yet they still watching instead of moving on LoL. That said, I know its not a machine for me. At that price I'd be too worried about tipping it over or scratching it up/beating out a window with a stiff branch if I slid into a tree on a tight slippery trail. But some people will buy it and thinks its the best thing since sliced bread. The more choice we have makes for a better sport for all of us.

    We ordered our xpedtion back in June. We finally picked it up this weekend.Had to drive over 6 hours for it, ( no other dealers on the east coast had the color or 5 seater northstar we wanted)
    to answer some questions;
    is this a stupid purchase? well yes, what adult toy hobby isn't?
    will you be riding it enough to justify this purchase? yes and no....some years we will ride 10-15 times a year for long miles, some years much less because life just gets busy with full time jobs and kids.
    Like with any machine we have had (which is quiet a few..) there will always be manufacturer flaws as well as personal dislikes. For newly released machines I always take out the manufacturers warranty, because things have happened in the past where we were very happy that we took the warranty out. Now we just cant wait to actually put it to the test.

      THIS is exactly why Manufacturers charge so much.
      "I don't care, I'll pay anything to have one" mentality.
      This really started with my generation (born in 1960).
      My grandparents wouldn't have EVER spent this kind of $$ on a "Toy", no matter how wealthy they were.
      And every generation is getting worse and worse.
      Absolutely ZERO thought of Cost vs Value...

    Man cool vehicle, love your reviews, but how are people going to afford another mortgage payment? If you include 6-7% interest, it will amount close to that. School loan, mortgage, car payment, and now this? Ouch! Are lenders going to even be hesitant the loan the doe. We saw what happened in the car industry, a version of The Peoples car (Volkswagen) will hit the SxS market and take it by storm. History repeats itself because we forget it.

    I remember when this was first announced and everyone would say, "for that price I'd buy a Jeep and I can drive on the street". Well the argument for that is Jeeps are slow. Out here in the West we call then "Trail Snails" because if you get stuck behind them, you have to wait for a place to pass and that seems to take forever.

    • @cavscout43
      @cavscout43 Před 7 měsíci

      That's a fair argument for sport UTVs, but the North Star 4-door is....2,900lbs per Polaris. On pretty middle ground 2" body shocks. I'm sure you can take the trails faster with the Xpedition, but you're not exactly going to be lapping the crawling Jeeps

    • @SinCityDetail
      @SinCityDetail Před 7 měsíci +1

      @cavscout43 I think you'd still be able to lap a Jeep. A friend of mine has one on 37's, with a Teraflex lift, good shocks, and it is so harsh of a ride. You really can't go that fast. I detailed it on my channel if you'd like to see it.

    Seems at the price that they charge they would see the muffler near the shock issue, seems like common sense. Polaris pushes innovation, but why have they been in business for this long and not listen to what everyone talks about and push quality and attention to detail? So many stupid quirky things that could easily be fixed with a better design.

    Worth the price? No. Live up to the hype? No. Seriously for the price buy a Jeep or a Bronco. Every one at my dealer that has sold has come back for ac that doesn’t work well, window motors and switches that burn up, constantly fighting air/dust leaks. These are very poorly built especially at their price point. Buy a general and a good cab kit, you’ll be ahead

  • @michaelmacdonald7342
    @michaelmacdonald7342 Před 6 měsíci

    Yes, it is awesome, but I don't understand why these are so expensive, on-road vehicles like Jeeps and Broncos are the same price and are road legal have way more refined interiors, better warranties, more R&D and safety equipment and electronics, so where is the money? Another issue is that these are so large that they are primarily going to be used on large manicured trails, basically roads, these trail systems are off limits to Jeeps and Broncos type vehicles, so the large vehicles don't rip up the trail, but these are blurring the lines a lot. Just another over priced toy from the manufacturer that used to be a good value. Polaris has forgotten about the people that bought their products and built their brand, now just cater to the rich. This is a nice machine, but too expensive, lacks refinement for that price. (ask yourself if you spent that much on a new road vehicle and the interior was build so cheep)

  • @pwarren1516

    Without even watching the video I can tell you absolutely no sxs is worth 50 grand especially when it still has a CVT transmission. If you're gonna drop that much on an off-road rig might as well get a Rubicon, it'll last 10 times longer. Average Polaris life span is 10,000 to 15,000 miles for 50 grand. People are insane for buying these. My defender max limited has the same suspension, and fully sealed cab, and i paid 25,000 less for it than this costs, and even that was hard to justify for a freakin sxs
