Congratulations to Polaris for inventing the 1996 Jeep Wrangler TJ for more than TWICE the price than they were new.
Basically! 😂
have you priced a jeep lately
😂
Hell most base side by sides cost that now 😂😂
not wrong!
Remember when side by sides and 4 wheelers were basic and cheap? Those were the good old days lol
$50,000 for 114 horsepower is such a slap in the face
At $50k I don't care what it's meant for, it should have the power to do anything.
That’s more expensive than a Gen 1 crew cab Ford raptor lmao
I can't wait to get one of these on Craigslist in 15 years when I can afford it.
You'll own nothing, and be happey, by then.
@@lorenc8010 You don't understand Mr. Schwab.
@@CZcamsDeletesComments Please help me understand why I will never own anything because I don't have a spare 40K+ to spend on a bad ass toy. I'm not sure where this is coming from but if I'm going to be attacked then please bring your best A game. I am a United States Marine and a MULTIPLE gun owner! Not sure what your trying to accomplish but we can absolutely go to war if you want a war! I own a 2000 sportsman 500 6x6, a 2016 sportsman 1000 touring, and a 2020 Yamaha Tw200..... What do you own? What's your resume? ( I really hope that my PTSD is out of control and just totally misunderstood your point and that makes my last two sentences are unnecessary and unwarranted.) Let me know.
@@lorenc8010 it appears to me that he's referencing something Klaus Schwab said (he's a part of the World Economic Forum). Hopefully that helps you out 👍
@@lorenc8010 Your PTSD is out of control.... he wasn't trying to insult you at all. He was explaining that the leader of the WHO said that everyone in this world will "own nothing, and be happy" Have you noticed how pricing and inflation is getting out of control? People are leasing vehicles now or putting them on credit cards. People are renting at huge rates because houses are no longer affordable. Everything digital that we consume is "subscription" based. People are making phone payments just to roll over their payments into new phones. It just keeps getting worse. Eventually we won't have anything and be what the one world government leaders call "happy"
I looked at the 2 door version of this at the local fair a few weeks ago, it was $41,000… that’s just crazy, I paid $42,700 for my 2020 ram 2500 , but obviously there is a market for something like this or they wouldn’t have built it…
So it’s literally just a small truck. Except it’s all plastic, tighter and not street legal.. and it’s still the same price as one
Bingo 👍
Street legal where i live 👍
Have you seen the price of trucks???
@@richardj163 yes, a 2023 Toyota Tacoma trd pro fully loaded is just over $50,000 on Toyota website
What small truck is as capable as this at the same price? Not one.
Wow...how innovative. It's like a really loud underpowered jeep that you trailer everywhere. Makes a lot of sense. Can't wait to get one.
My dealer here in PA said they already sold one at $45k USD 🤣🤣 how can you justify that kinda money for that thing
The only people who are going to buy this thing are people who feel the need to flex on others and require an ego boost every time someone says ( HEY DUDE THATS COOL, I WISH I HAD ONE).
I would rather ride with a guy who had a clapped out $2500.00 Suzuki Samurai and run the risk of flipping over versus a guy who won't shut up and stop talking about its features.
It's easy to justify but at some point it's like why??? You can just get a used Raptor for the same price and you get all the niceties and comfort of a modern vehicle. This thing is huge and will get stuck just like any heavy truck or car.
You’d be surprised how much money people have, someone will pay cash for this on a whim. I’ll bet the majority of these will be bought with cash.
The same fools that have bought houses over the last several years… that’s who.
Damn good point !!!!!@@jeffwhite3021
I love Polaris like the buggy but for that money I’d rather buy a Bronco or a jeep WTH
I’ll use that money to get Jeep wrangler or gladiator 😂
Congrats Polaris! You've entered the luxury urbanites pickup truck market! Same price too! Remarkable!
Yes , outrageous !!!
It's no longer a side by side, it's a mini SUV
Wow... Built for the outdoors man who wants to stay inside!!! Rich outdoors man that is.......
Definitely targeting offroaders with more disposable income than me.
@@dirttraxtv haha You and me both. "When your kids are out of University and College you can afford to treat yourself" they said..... yah right.
Good lord that's more expensive than my gladiator...
Yup, I spent $35k out the door for my Gladiator Sport (pre-plandemic).
Prices of these vehicles at this level don't even make sense. Wranglers or Tacomas can be outfitted for less money and legally ride all the rodes to get to the trails. I'd would bet that the industry doesn't sell the numbers to justify machines at this price point. Very nice machine, but it would never be an option for 99%.
I gotta be honest. I got a decent amount of money, likely more than the average demographic buying these things and at this price tag that’s a hard pill to swallow, i just don’t see it. That’s like $40k-$45k USD… WTF?? I just bought a 2019 4Runner SR5 4x4 for $35k. Sure, maybe not as good for super tight trails but better in every other metric for $10k less.
It looks awesome!
Almost as good as a Geo Tracker.
They are really awesome with a set of tracks. We just took a short weekend getaway and road from just outside Leadville Colorado up to the backside of Breckenridge mountain. It was a blast. With a 11 and 4 yr old this make sense for our family now. Hopefully, we get back into snowmobiles when the little one gets a little older.
All the guys at deer camp got new Polaris’ rangers this year. I bought a used Jeep JK. And laughed all the way to the bank with my A/C on. 😂
wow i remember when the honda BIG RED 3 wheeler came out and i thought that thing was big...lol.. my how times have changed..lol
60k ?🤯 Who is this for? Why not just buy a new Jeep and go bush bash in that lol
Same price as a GMC Canyon Denali or a 2024 Chevy Blazer RS.
You can get a Ford Ranger Or Chevy Colorado with a camper top for cheaper than this. And those will be more comfortable, highway legal, quieter, get better mileage, and last 10-15x as many miles.
This thing has a foot longer wheelbase than a Cherokee Classic (so harder to turn around on tight trails, more likely to high center or clip rocks underneath) on a narrow 64" width so it'll be sideways tippy on many off camber trails. Curb weight is 3000lbs or more too, same as a Cherokee Classic. So you're not even getting better handling by being lighter than a truck. The *basic* trim without any HVAC, windows, or a windshield is still at like $35k starting price!
I'm really struggling to imagine who this is for, except people with way more money than common sense. Rich old ranchers who'll just write it off as an "ag equipment" tax deduction maybe? At this point, you're using a truck to ....trailer this slightly smaller truck for riding.
We were looking at something more comfortable for camping & riding when it's sub-freezing, and realized a $9k used lower mileage F-150 was going to be better than this in every way. Toss in the Pro R and Maverick R which are insanely huge and powerful vehicles too big for technical trails, and it's pretty clear Polaris and Can-Am are just chasing numbers and fools.
What an awesome overland/hunting rig. But for $60-K🫡!
That is what my new Jeep Gladiator Rubicon cost me, and it gets me to and from the hunt.
But, well done Polaris. It's a great innovation in the SXS world! 👍👍
60grand wow...
I saw one in Carson city and on the showroom floor it looks like it should have a license plate. Just make a street legal jeep killer. 4x4s are big and heavy now. Polaris could dominate the micro 4x4 market if they made it street legal. Think Suzuki samurai. Speaking of samurai…. Hey Suzuki…bring back the samurai and show Polaris how to make a 1900 pound street legal 4x4.
Great Rig and review
Thank you!
Ouch! $56,000 CDN. That's more than I paid for my 2020 Toyota Highlander new. That's for the guy who wants bragging rights on the trails. Crazy.
Yep, not cheap.
That’s a really nice machine . I looked at one but couldn’t justify the cost . I guess if that’s the only machine you want and make good use of it all the best . Let’s face it , if people didn’t buy this stuff the companies would not make them . I own and am very happy with my defender hd9 dps cab model. All the features I wanted and priced reasonably for today’s market. Nice review of the features on this machine. 👍.
Look at cfmotos 1000xl. They're 15k, pretty basic but everything you need for a side by side.
very cool but 60k? not a chance, this worlds out of control, i bought a 2023 ranger and even that was outrageously priced for what u get…. Polaris build quality is brutal for 20 plus grand canadian and placement of belt/batt are in very bad locations, had to put springs in brake calliper to hold pressure because so sloppy from factory they were making a clicking noise so bad u could hardly ride the thing…. anything cool u have to buy separate for some reason even didn’t come with review mirror… all and all i love sxs but would never waste my money on Polaris anything in the future
Yep I’m done with Polaris too. They work great for a bout a year then it’s time to replace everything
Mines almost here!! I was shocked when i found out theres no rear ducts for heat. Still cant wait to get it hopefully 2 weeks 🙏 😊
A fool and his money are soon parted
For sure !!@@alexprince9035
Yeah!! Good for you! If you can afford it-get it and enjoy!😉
I priced out the Xpedition ADV 5 NORTHSTAR with the optional Overland Package ($14,742 CDN) and the total before tax is $72,311.
Add our federal and provincial 13% HST tax of $9400 and you have a grand total of $81,711 before freight and PDI at the dealership.
I then priced out a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited 4 door with the 3.6L engine and 8 speed automatic ($3995) and the total come out to $69,115 plus $8985 tax for a grand total of $78,100 CDN again without freight or PDI.
The Xpedition is a great concept but I believe these will be a hard sell at that price point here in Canada.
Make a good "SHOPPING MALL CURB JUMPER"... Probably with a 6 month warranty like the rest of the RZRS'
I'll be getting mine on market place in 10 years
Since the Northstar edition doesn’t have a tilt bed, how are you supposed to get underneath everything to service it?
For the price, you best be able to fit adults in the back comfortably. Yeah it’s cool that it’s all closed in, but prices on sxs is getting out of control. This isn’t for everyone but 60k for a utv is out of control. Will it get places most suvs can’t, prob. Just buy a 4Runner 😂
It's a SUV ATV! Love it. The original (E)Xpedition around Y2K or so was a like 425 4-Stroke utility ATV with a 5-Speed AutoClutch (a Sportsman 400 5-Speed really) that was constantly breaking down (& eventually recalled I THINK) for the unit having some weird ass "black box" issue relating to it's Reverse Gear operation or the likes because Designing Manual Transmissions was apparently way over Polaris' Pay Grade. LOL. SO BIT of an odd choice in naming this the Xpedition. Also kinda sounds like it's the Edition for Reformed Convicted PDF Files. *Other than all those super fun facts; Yeah that things dope!*
Insane! Im blown away not only by the price but the interior space. Also, I think it would be useful to know how much HP and torque and cylinders it has when mentioning the motor. At least for those of us who don't keep up with the world of ATVs, SxS and UTVs etc. Awesome machine!
He did say how many cylinders and how much hp it has. In the first minute of the video.
He did mention the hp ratings my bad. I missed that but its in the first 2 minutes but he doesn't mention cylinders or toque ratings.@@TranceFur
@@shmac96why would cylinders matter?
@@SJ_999 When doesn't it?
it's a V6 😁
12:50 i personally dont like steering wheel controls, i like the fact it has a traditional steering wheel
Good review! Like a lot of people I struggle with the price. If my income was better...way better, I'd probably get one. I'm only 30 min away from being at 9,000 feet (that's 2743 meters for you Canadians 😂) with over 1200 miles of trails and I can picture myself leaving my place and heading out to the trail with this. This would definitely be faster and probably more fun on the trails than a Jeep. I am curious how many miles people are getting out of their Generals, Rangers etc because I wonder how many miles you could get XPEDITION ADV 5 before needing some serious mechanical work. In my mind something with that price tag should be able to go a lot of miles.
Bought one today. The dark orange color. So nice. If you hated anything about Polaris. Cheap build quality. Crappy transmission. Forget about that. This is top notch. I own a 2024 ranger xp Texas edition and it isn’t close to this nice.
At this price id have to ask what the MPG is. That's the only possible benefit id see over getting a midsize truck like a ZR2 or raptor Ranger
Worse with a huge heavy CVT. The Polaris General and RZRs usually aren't even getting 15mpg depending on how you drive. And they're smaller & lighter than these by a fair margin.
A Ford Ranger will probably get close to 10mpg more than a Polaris Xpedition, assuming stock tires, no mods, and similar driving conditions.
Just buy a jeep ....
Nice review, good looking machine, but add those steering wheel specs that you would like to see, jumps the price at least another 5k.
I deliver these every week all over the country, they’re nice, but not nice enough for the price imho….
Its an amazing rig honestly. I love everything about it. However, the price makes it only availavle to a small portion of enthusiasts.
This unit is insane!! Really love your videos!!
Thanks man!!
Have a 2021 Ranger Northstar ultimate, 4K and no issues, for the price of this unit , side mirrors, rear bumper should all be standard, and I hear they are very loud inside, still a great looking unit and some people will buy them
Sxs's these days the prices is ludicrous out of range for most buyers ain't worth price no matter how good it is
There's a market for these things and there's guys out there with way more money than me.
Suzuki Samari is much less than $56k
Now that would be a shootout 😂
I live in Canada where we have to load the unit onto a trailer to get any where. If we could drive from my home throughout the city I would without hesitation to buy one. If DOT would identify Polaris expedition as vehicle sales would increase.
I wish you could get a snorkel kit for it because down south we do a lot of trail and mud riding
Would love to have one but for 35k starting price they can keep it. Can just get a 20 year old jeep for 5-10k that you can work on yourself.
That's awesome. Best UTV made at this point in time for what it does.
Kinda in its own category really, isn't it.
What's it do?
Wonder if there is a signal light kit for the places atvs are legal to drive on public roads-this IS perfect for the acreage owner / outdoorsman / overlanding!!!
U can make them street legal but not Highway/freeway legal
This is what I imagined a kei car SUV being
😂
I’m just wondering how it would handle deep water/mud
2023 Jeep JL Rubi sitting on the lot here for 62k cdn. I don't understand this at all at the 59k cdn price tag i just asked local about when i am gonna also need a 60k truck and 10k trailer to get this somewhere. Even as a work horse the Jeep beats it on specs for towing. Love offroading, and dont think I will ever understand this at this price point and limitations
I want this with a turbo and 72” wide on 32s.
That might be next year model 😃
Bad ass
I really want to buy a vehicle like this to go with my son.
But these prices are pushing a lot of people out of this experience.
dude that's a whole ass car
Do a comparison with new Ford Explorer. I think their in the same class. 😂
Might make an awesome winter 4x4... maybe throw some trax on it and away you go.
Perfect for MB winters hahaha
It would be an awesome winter SXS.
The 1% win again!
Never in a million years would I have thought there was a market for something like this.
Or feet pics 😂
I wish we got the sizuki jimney in the us
Hope this air conditioner does better than the ranger northstar because mine doesent cut it in Oklahoma anything past 95 it gets uncomfortable.....high humidity also does it no favors
I'm really curious to see if this can find a market. It's basically what a modern SUV would be if it didn't need to adhere to the regulations to make it road legal (e.g. no bumper so 90° approach and departure angles), and I wonder whether there are enough people who want it when you still need a truck to tow it to a trailhead.
In Michigan it can be converted to highway legal.
First off - not everyone lives where you need a truck to haul this thing to a trail head. People own farms, acreages and live in small towns where they can leave right from their yard and head out riding. Also, Polaris will sell every one of these they build. No question. This is a serious step up from a base Ranger and those who can afford this WILL have one. Nothing to be curious about - this will be a success for Polaris.
@@pajamatime5750 What's different about this compared to previous utility SxS vehicles is that it's expensive AND aiming to be practical.
With a Ranger, you could argue that it may not be as luxurious or comfortable as a truck but at least it was somewhat more capable and considerably cheaper. Now with this xpedition, buyers can legitimately cross-shop between this and an off-road focused SUV since they are similarly priced, and when you compare it with a Jeep or a mid-sized truck, it's a tough sell. Sure the xpedition will be more capable off-road, but I don't see anyone who is considering buying a Jeep or a mid-sized truck being convinced to buy an xpedition instead.
The only buyers of this are going to be people moving up from a Ranger. It's not going to expand the SxS market. It's just going to make more profit for Polaris by selling more expensive vehicles to the same buyers.
@@pajamatime5750 Easy to sell everyone you make if you only make 18 of them. That's not exactly a market. We need to know the production numbers and sales to know anything.
Does it have blinkers and a horn?
👍👍👍👍👍
Is it actually quite inside though?
Can you start weighing them? Live weight.
A brand-new Gen 1 Ford Raptor crew cab was 41,995 with the 6.2-liter v8 option… that’s just insane lol
Needs a HEPA filter in the HVAC,,, And a Roof Top Tent.. and at this price.. should have a 6x6 option at this level.. 😊
…with tax a new Can Am 6x6 full cab is around 48K out the door here in TN.. which will get you a damn nice USED anything..
Absolutely. Should have the 2.0 liter and DYNAMIX for that price too.
I know this isn't the place for this debate, but if it is a factory enclosed cab i don't think the law should force you to wear a helmet, unfortunately i don't have $70k to drop on one of these babies but i would take it to court to get the law changed, also also if you ad blinkers then it becomes a road legal vehicle with "limitations"
It's a Honda element without the suicide doors and removable rear seats at just about twice the price that they sold for new.
For $45,000, that thing better come with a 5 year no question ask kind of warranty
It needs some type of separation between cargo area and the cab ! Anyone that’s rolled any vehicle knows your cargo is what will kill you !
I understand that. SUVs don't have that separation though either.
Trying to decide between this and the ranger 1500, what are your thoughts?
Ooooh, big question. Depends on intended use. Also, a pretty huge bump in price from this to a 6-passenger 1500. Gotta really know what you want...
The only reason I'd think about buying one is if it were completely DOT certified and highway legal
Sadly this is the result of us accepting UTVs for $20-30k. Problem for me is that I would just buy a jeep wrangler which is just slightly larger but much more capable and street legal. We are hitting limits and companies are starting to get the message.
No lie, expensive or not, if they dropped the turbo motor in that a d gave it dynamix I'd sell my proxp4 ASAP and buy one of those in a heartbeat. I'd love to have all those features but I don't wanna give up my HP.
It should have both those things in it.
Pretty sure my 2012 Ranger Crew won't be going anywhere for the next 25 years.
ok Can Am if you make one, do hardocated windows and no power in the rear, also standard HVAC is fine. we don't need a 60K SxS thats too heavy to go in mud. This rig is cool but id still rather a Fox Qs3 pkg on a Defender Limited. you said one thing right, this is a SxS for someone who doesn't want to be outside.
56-60k and you need to upgrade the hell out of it, there's a problem.💯%
is there an e-brake?
ive been looking into getting one. but the base price of $30k+ is ehh. thinking about getting a base ranger for 15k or the new 1500
Way to EXPENSIVE !!!
What are the tires used from factory i cant tell please tell me somebody …thnx
Whats the whole belt driven vs chain driven deal i hear people talk about?
$60k is insane. I’ve always found the prices of these things outrageous, but this definitely takes the cake. SO not worth it!
For $60K I would buy a Tacoma and have a real truck. More reliable also.
But then you wouldn't get the pleasure of inhaling the smell of burning belt each time you accelerate aggressively
For the price, it should have turn signals, side mirrors and horn.
DYNAMIX, hente seats, full overlander kit including the rooftop tent, the list goes on...
No audio test?????
Why is it that you said it's quiet in there engine is running, then other reviews said it's Louder Than Hell
What model of Polaris or any brand for that matter has EVER gone done in price?
Wow!! This takes the UTV to the next level. I'm sure Polaris will not be able to build enough. Very cool. Merci
I wish your camera had stabilization. Otherwise great review.
Ya right, I'll get a 4runner and spend my time on adventures vs. driving back and forth to the Polaris dealer constantly.
Weight is a sign of reliability. That's huge rig thats only 64 inch wide
Review new YXZ for us
Do you see polaris doing turbo on this model down the road ? Or don’t see them doing that ? Strictly rzr models with turbo.
It's a great question. I think adding a turbo or dynamix to this model would put the price out of the stratosphere. This unit is already 60 grand in Canada, so what's the dynamix turbo, like 70? It's insane.
