    In the state of NM, if you add turn signals this Polaris would be street legal. Then the question would be why? Jeep hands down beats this thing for all around use any day.

    When shifting the JK into low range, never put a bunch of strength on the shifter. It will break the bushings on the linkage. Shift into neutral, let it slightly roll, and then move the shifter. If done right, it will just slide into or out of low range.

    Tfl should invest in offroad driving class for your guys. It's obvious that they don't know how and when to use lockers and low range. For a channel that does a lot of offroad reviews, it would be nice to see someone who actually knows how to drive offroad doing the reviews.

    Something they never seem to note is that the manual for the Jeep states that if trying to shift into 4L at a stand still difficulty can occur. It actually states to be rolling just a little, shift transmission to N and then shit to 4L. If they would do the process correctly then he would have much less issues.

    • @Stuka87
      @Stuka87 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@markmonroe7330 This isn't a "jeep thing". Its every t-case with low range and an automatic transmission thing. The vehicles with an electronic shifter will sit there trying over and over until it gets into gear. Rolling at 1-2mph in neutral makes it very easy to shift. And for manuals, you just put the clutch in and shift, very simple.

    • @Cloud30000
      @Cloud30000 Před 6 měsíci

      In my F150 and my previous RAM 1500, I can select 4low from a dead stop and it shifts on the first try every time. Most modern 4x4’s have a clutch in the transfer case now to allow both 4auto and 4low without moving.

  • @4-LOW
    @4-LOW Před 6 měsíci +16

    Somebody needed to do this video. The Polaris is ridiculous. Why not take the Jeep so it will also be street legal? I'd go Wrangler every time if these were the only two options. Hell, you could buy a NICE Wrangler Rubicon on the used market and keep $15k in your pocket. These UTVs have just gone too far. And for F sake, the owners manual clearly states to roll forward at 2 MPH when shifting to 4-Low. It's easy peasy as Roman would say if done correctly.

    • @HAHA.GoodMeme
      @HAHA.GoodMeme Před 6 měsíci +1

      They did the same thing with Tacoma locker, acting like it doesnt engage when, by design, you are supposed to roll forward after pressing the locker button.

    • @dundonrl
      @dundonrl Před 6 měsíci +1

      Because the SxS can go places that the Jeep can't, due to it being much narrower. If you compare the 2 door Wrangler to the 2 door Polaris, the length difference and wheel base is even more biased towards the SxS, (Wrangler 96.8" wheel base and 166.8" overall length, Polaris 87.5" wheelbase 122.5" overall length.) You can also get the Polaris General which is even shorter with a 83" wheel base and 118.2" overall length.

    One you can drive to the trail, the other you have to trailer. I’m definitely NOT anti-SXS, but for Colorado and Utah, they just don’t seem to make sense (not enough SXS only trails and some towns are banning them). You can take a stock 4WD vehicles through most Colorado trails without issue. Now it TN where there are SXS only off-road areas, I could see myself getting one.

    That new obstacle is a nice addition but I feel it needs a log or something at the crest of it. Every time a vehicle climbs it the angle will be reduced without something solid there. It would also create more of a challenge to have more of a ledge. I'm afraid over time it would just become easier and easier to do as tires and undersides of cars scrape it away and lessen the angle/ crest so it wouldn't be apples to apples comparisons.

    I grew up riding fourwheelers. Specifically, a 1986 Honda Foretrax 350 4X4. That thing was indestructible. Later on, a Foreman 450. Also a well put together machine. That was really before side by sides gained popularity. I always felt that Honda had better quality than Polaris, especially back then. Which I wish that weren't the case because I am born and raised in MN. I thought that as the years went by, Polaris would've upped their quality a lot, but this machine sounded unrefined. I wouldn't buy this machine for $47K. I'm sure it's great off-road, but I feel that that is way too much money for something that needs refinement. Plus looking around the cabin, I'm just not seeing it. I'd really have to be using it everyday like on a farm or spend quite a lot of time on trails with my family to justify that money.
    My initial thought on naming the obstacle - Humpty Hill. But reading through the comments I do like Breakover Berm as well. Also, seeing as how they're naming these obstacles after the guys, I think we need to come up with something clever for Alex.

    Not to take anything away from the Polaris, it looks like a fantastic vehicle. But it’s just an off-road vehicle, and unless I can legally registered to drive on the road, I would think for most people at these prices the jeep is a better use of our money. I bought the Polaris I would additionally need a vehicle and a trailer to get it to the off-road site.

    If I was for sure doing 40% or more of my time off roading, I would buy a high end SXS like the Xpedition and a good used truck to pull the SXS. I’ve owned a heavily modified XJ for over 13 years and I would rather have a dedicated rig for play. Xpedition would be awesome, but I would not want a first year of production and when I did buy one it would be used and heavily modified by me or previous owner. LOL

    $47,000 F that. That Polaris is going to be eating belts like crazy with all that extra weight.

    The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the new obstacle is in Jurassic Park, when they find the Triceratops, then their 💩. I present you the Jurassic Pile 😂

    Horrific transmission noise, and harshness in the Polaris.. the CVT gearbox has no place in this vehicle, proving its just built to a price (for the extras) while the running gear remain unchanged

    50k side by side, I think I go with the jeep for the obvious reasons... rather spend 5k or 10k more but you would be street legal, airbags, more comfort, plenty of room for upgrades, could get a used jeep for that price too.... if that polaris would be in the 30k range, absolutely.

    Yes, you can buy an 8 year old slightly built Jeep for a similar price. What you can't do is get any Jeep that will go on sxs only trails.

    It's ridiculous cost of atvs , utes even used. It's cheaper to buy a jeep, toyota or short bed pickup. And cheap to fix the car than an arv, easier find parts. And a vehicle is safer, on off road .

    I honestly dont understand the point of side by sides. We have one but its more or less to drag a deer out or move wood on the property, or to go into the swamps to get things.
    The reason i say i dint understand them is because we have a group near us who dont take them off road. They literally just drive up and down the back roads in convoys.
    Absolutely nothing wrong with that. But for the price of this, and if all im doing is driving on roads id just get a truck lol.
