Where’s the breaks?
The problem with this design is that you reach your destination more slowly due to the increased quantity of people asking what you're riding!
and it is even slower than before. look at him kicking in the pedals just to reach snail speed
😂
@@Zyclon_Break That's because of size ratio.
😂
With that transmission he wont go faster than 6mph
That's one of the most intriguing thumbnails I've ever seen. Couldn't not click.
Lol
I have reddit too, very cool.
I thought the wheels are magnetically levitating the bike frame
Couldn’tn’t
Hey redditor, I watch your vids a lot
What would look really cool is if you now fitted non-functional spokes to the hubs, so it looked like you were moving on stationary wheels!
🤣👍
THAT would be so trick!!
Genius idea
We ridin spinnaz
Or even make them turn backwards. And you call it "The Moon-ride"
The only problem with this design is that because you wrapped the chain around the wheel well, the gear ratio is much larger, so you gain less distance when you petal. You would spend alot more energy riding this bike than any other bike. Other than that, the design is really futuristic, it gives me a Tron vibe. Great work.
its easier to pedal, but you need to pedal faster
That's right, more pedaling or more times doing it! 🚴
😋
Exactamente entre más larga de cadera menos velocidad lastima se veía muy bien el diseño ya después pues no 😂
Yes, congratulations 👌.
i think instead of around the large diameter of the wheel, perhaps a small set on the inside of the wheels rim and have the teeth inwards, probably badly explained.... i think google images internal gear pinion but its the large gear that moves and the pinion is the cassette
As a bike mechanic I am both genuinely impressed and just a little horrified. Beautiful work!
please check out my recap videos .
Why horrified?
@@Inkosi_uJabu_Ndlovu I'm guessing he isn't convinced of its overall safety in the hubless design but idk
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
yes, very clever. would have never thought of that idea.
@@Inkosi_uJabu_Ndlovu Most likely for the same reasons as me. I am horrified bc he massacred a fantastic bike skeleton. He turned it into a Frankenstein creation. But still, It was a perfect creation and we loved it and the imagination. I own several bikes and the thought of someone doing that to one of mine horrifies me. The creativity he puts into this is amazing.
That gearing ratio...gonna be a good workout on the legs!
Viceversa, i guess
It's gonna be really easy though. And it wont get you very fast
The weight from the rims would be massive too right? Acceleration momentum must feels like hell.
Maybe because the bike just isnt very efficient as the wheels add alot of friction to it /:
Yep
The other issue is bearing noise. The metal on metal sound of the wheel on the bearings. Also didn't see him shift gears or go off road. I imagine mud if ridden off-road is a issue too. Dirt don't do well going between smooth surfaces . But you designed a great show bike and conversation piece.
I was thinking along those lines too.
It's an off road bike but as soon as you go through any deep muddy puddles the bearings and drivetrain will be screwed.
"But you designed a great show and conversation piece"
What do you mean "but"? The guy posts every project on CZcams with no schematics, instructions, discussion of the build, etc. Every thing he creates, beginning to end, is for the sole purpose of show.
...and of course, the ongoing conversation between engineers and pseudo engineers.
True, not a very durable design. Just a rolling piece of engineering art. I can appreciate it for that.
The montage is more beautiful than the idea itself😂❤
Answering "I made this" to "Where did you buy this?" sounds like such a power move
Yea
@Lucas It definitely is.
Perks of DIY
All it needs now is LED's in the rims 👌
That thumnail gets everyone I guess
I don’t think you need those they are just optional stuff LEDs are not mandatory and I’ll just take up more power.

Never thought I'd see you here 😅
I was intrigued by this, because I was thinking of something similar for one of my projects.
At first I was concerned about the lack of brakes, but then noticed the brake disc on the intermediate layshaft / gear set, because after some thought, it was exactly where I expected to see it.
What I still can't work out is the attachment of the large rear sprocket wheel [ presumably another custom cut part ] to the rear wheel rim, and why that fat tyre doesn't rub against the chain, & push it off the sprocket.
Any ideas, or working hypotheses greatly appreciated.
You can see the rear part right here: 6:23
thats basically how we get a 'tronlegacy' style light cycle . nice one !
Need some neon lights and engine - and we have it DIY :)
Maybe someday there will be a electric bicycle like this!
@@Ash-br1pu It was already built ages ago...try to search for Tron light cycle...some small company which producing electric bikes made one...
That gear ratio though lol.
Dude was WORKING to get up to 10mph.
It can be improved by using multiple gear assembly like sun planet gear system coz it provides high gear ratio
That's what I thought. He's peddling very hard and getting nowhere fast
It would be same, just a little bit easier on regular bicycle on first gear. But yeah that's solid 30% more taxing ig.
Put a electic motor on it!
Ikr lol
Mate you’ve blown my mind! It’s like CZcams read my mind while I was going down the rabbit hole of ebikes and the current designs of hub motors. Now that I’ve seen this video I’m like why the hell don’t we have a bunch of bikes of this design flooding the markets!! Just put a mid drive motor on it and you’ve got the sexiest ebike in the world!! Gahh!! Bloody good work mate! Keep it up!
Oh I fell in love with this hubless cycle.

That was what I thought too. Little weird but a good start.
I would put a blue light ring around the tire for that extra TRON effect

Some LED lights....
That would be cool tho
Is very futuristic look...way better than what's always been made since the 1970s.
TRON 😆
I really enjoy reading all the people who say make comments about how this isn’t practical. What’s practical about most cool things on CZcams? Awesome creation!
This is insane! I love the hubless design!
His cool experiments and the editing... Makes it a masterpiece.❤️
At this point, hubs and spokes would be a nice improvement.
Would reduce weight too!
Good thinking man.
And brakes
@@JohannGambolputty22 to be fair, he still has a disc brake in the rear triangle, attached to his gearing.
Should weld the spokes to the blue discs so it looks like the wheels are not even turning.
You could also ditch the transfer chainring and additional oversize chain, moving the cassette to the rear hub. It would cut down on a lot of weight. Just a thought.
Really appriciate your work man , the creativity of your ideas are on the next level, hats off to you 🙂🙂

@Hocine John solution: make it into an ebike instead.
Ah shiiiiiiiiiiit
Its it gta sa
The engineer in me is screaming but the artist in me is applauding.
looks cool but he just ruined good bike.
Those Barrens in that rim that r welded in have to be cut out and it has to be re engineered to put them back in there basicly roller blade Barrens. They do eventually burn up and have to b replaced , And without the spokes the rim will eventually warp alot easyier maybe it will b slightly more ridged because the rims being wider but this bike will not be able to handle any serious bumping and jumping around or the rims r gonna warp its now basicly ment to be a beach cruiser bike and lightly used on flat smooth surfaces or for short rides its ultimately a huge fail..
So true. That looks like shit to ride
Well it also takes much more pedals to travel a distance than before.....cuz the circumference of back wheel is much larger than the peddling one.🙄
@@oldtunes817 not to mention he cut off all the gears so now he only has one gear and nothing to switch. Bro I always ride high gear and this would be hell because he's essentially riding low gear
He makes it look so easy and effortless I wonder how many shots and takes it took to actually get this thing working
Great creativity of this mechanic! I watched the reconstruction of this bike with great interest. The analyzes of the presented material show that only a specific rim is suitable for making a spokeless wheel. Its construction must be quite resistant to lateral and internal loads, because this is where the bearings are mounted. The total rolling resistance is higher than in the standard version. It is important that effective performance, congratulations, greetings 😀.
You couldn’t look at the thumbnail and not think “how in the Hell?” Also, the transitions and editing of this video are perhaps some of the most interesting I’ve seen
Front wheel is fine you can use bearings
Back wheel also fine but very inefficient imo cuz the circle that the chain goes around is way bigger than the gear at the pedals powering it
That’s what I thought when looking at the thumbnail
I would be questioning the brakes but I can't imagine anyone is going to be riding that fast enough considering how terrible that gear ratio is to matter.
It looks like pulling the rear break will rip the chain tensioner off of the bike.
I also envision that there is far more friction involved.
I also have a doubt on suspension
What's this thing weigh? Looks like a tank, a cool tank though.
@Nobody
The spokes flex and act as suspension. This is why they don't use more rigid, forged solid piece wheels.
This design is so fraggingly cool. This thing would make me use a bike again
Ура! Снова новая связка, и как всегда рабочая, спасибо, что стараетесь для нас!
Engineering speaking, this is a mess, insane stress points, no brakes, insane gear ratios, absurd, chain tension, pivotal stress points
Aesthetically speaking: cool
He got disk brakes on the Chain but I think on the first real emergency break the chain would snap or bend under the extreme force
Also i dont think it can go faster than that
Agree, there's no actual improvement, and wheels should be quite sturdy. Although with some fiddling and experimenting i bet it can be done somewhat properly/reasonably well.
Didn't you just like. Explain engineering in a sense anyways? Everything has to be done before you can make it work. The gear ratios though. That was driving me nuts to be honest.
The bearings on the wheels will probably last about 3 minutes.

congrats on adding friction to the best energy for work engine mankind has created.
The fact that the chain has to go around the whole tire is a terrible idea because it takes more effort to complete a full circle, just look how fast he peddles and how slow he goes. you need smaller gears so it makes the tire spin more per pedal. With this design it takes multiple pedals to complete a cycle

Like special Olympics of DIY. Good effort.
Yep,
Not to mention that the chain will collect much dirt on the back tyre,
.. and road bumps and cracks can quickly break off the wheels from this joint.
The ball bearing in the very center turn much slower than it does in this example. Just calculating the circumference of the circle ( 2 x pi x r ) gives you an idea of the difference. The man is very good and creative. Would love to see a magnetic version of it, without ball bearing.

@@XIskandarX I don't know mechanics well but I would ask myself. How durable and resistant to break it is - you have high forces in one point. If someone more sturdy uses it might just break on the first curb. Chains are very tense and power transmission - you would need to calculate how energy efficient it is. Also, there is a loud music as background so you can hear how ball bearings act. Next, for me it's just to many parts - consider something breaks. I think there lots of other things that people who know mechanical engineering would point out. ( @always eatinpotatos is mentioning more in the comments in other thread)
