- A bit of a shorter video this time, but here's a small dive into the weird quirks of Pokemon nicknames, and how they can even change pokemon into bootleg shinies.

Think that’s bad, a buddy of mine caught a shiny Joltick (after I hadn’t caught a single shiny through dynamax adventures with him) he named it “Dino’s Pity” and sent it to me. I will never forget that

There's a trainer somewhere in the Gym Leader castle in Gen 2 that has a shiny-looking Charmander, I forget exactly who though

The only trainers in Stadium 2 with a Charmander are the male Cooltrainer in Blackthorn Gym R1 and female Swimmer in Little Cup R2.
Tbh I thought first this video was about nicknaming Pokemon into other Pokemon, but what you did is cool to.
Reminds of the time when I nicknamed one of my Pokemo Zapdos when Gen4 came out. I thought I was beeing sneaky and could trick the AI into sending in other Pokemon and also thought that in a Link Battle my opponent would see the message "Trainer is sending out Zapdos. Do you want to switch?"

I was very sure this video would also cover the shiny eggs trick. Because shininess was (is it still?) on the secret ID in gen4. So people generated eggs and swapped them around to hatch as shiny. This was of course only possible because you could find out the secret ID by some glitches, but a friend of mine hosted a quite elaborate shiny egg trading post around 2010 or so, so at least a good number of people were capable of this.

In Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet traded Pokemon without Nicknames cand only be nicknamed if they are the same language as the game being played.

As someone who never played Stadium, I learned only recently that pokemon can have different hues in that game and I find that so fascinating !
I feel like I'm gonna research pokemon hues a little too much this evening...
There's a Werster clip of him facing a genuine shiny Onix, I think it is the namesake of his emote, Onixpecyed shiny.
Like he and audience ignore the hue until the shiny sparkle shows up

It was the Sableye pattern used for the line of Pokemon Shirts (that they sadly discontinued), but you can find all the patterns archived on Bulbapedia
