    In this video I try to explain a few of the theories for why Sensory Overload is such a common and painful symptom of Fibromyalgia.

    Hi! I'm Olga, I'm 25 and I have Fibromyalgia - I had to give up my dream of becoming a professional dancer, I had to give up driving, working, a lot of us have to go through this. I started making videos to help me cope with the condition, and now they have turned into educational videos about the illness, as well as some entertaining ones, cause I am a multi-layered person like everyone else, and I like more than one thing! This channel is also a statement - we are people still, in spite of our condition, we are complex and passionate and interesting. I hope by sharing my journey I will inspire others to keep going, that I will help others understand their bodies better, and that I will help you all feel less alone!

    I have fibromyalgia and sensory overload. You explained it very well. If I gave any advice I would say no back ground music. I had a hard time focusing on you talking because of the music.

      Thank you so much for your comment! I have started using less music for this reason, but thanks for the advice!

      Had to turn the sound off and read the captions on the page otherwise I would have missed most of the helpful information shared as I suffer daily with sensory overload.
      Have had fibro since I was a child but I was only diagnosed 20 years ago after numerous tests and misdiagnoses in the early years of my life.

    Your assessment is correct. It is hard for my husband to understand what I am going through and then I feel guilty for my feelings. I am depressed a lot just because there is SO MUCH to deal with. too many problems it makes me wonder if life is worth living. Nothing fixes the problems and the physicians are useless.

    As someone who has this issue, I found I was unable to look at the uncomfortably busy visuals in this video (that couch😣)and also there was background music which made it impossible for me to concentrate on the words. So sadly I didn’t make it very far through.

    I have fibro and your right about everything your saying....I also have TBI with it so....it can become overwhelming fast ...its great to be able to see the fibro and then TBI separately....as it shows why I'm having so much trouble with my emotional and physical triggers....thank you😁

      I have fibromyalgia/autism, I found the music relaxing, as I tend to research these things when I’m having a bad time, the calm music is comforting. But it was too loud 😇 So no/quieter music is good for me

    Great video i do need to watch first part again as i got lost . all seems very much a cycle overload stress fatigue pain definitely is the chicken-egg. If we didn't overload or stress maybe fatige/pain wouldn't occur🤓 i definitely think i need a better day to say care plan just basic that covers mental health food fluid intake physical side etc hmm im in flare had to ring in today and medcself up and sleep to handle the pain was off the scale. Going to eat bath meds and back to bed. I'd be interested to see a how to stay well longer kinda video feel like i need to organize self better. Funny i flared up real bad exactly same time last year had minis since but not to this extent I've felt it coming past two weeks but we've passed the cold/sick bug round a for night ago then was school hols then ive had a really long heavy period. Sometimes you can't control these things when there's a lot of facors. I shall recwatch thisvobe when ive more headsoace ❤ thanks olga 😍

      Thanks :) Well, I mean Fibro is such a wild card already and then you add all these other factors and its just not fun. I'm sorry you're not doing so good. But I hope you get back on your feet soon at least. I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel of this flare I think (but I might just have jinxed myself haha)

    Thank you. I enjoyed this. My whole life is governed by extreme hypersensitivities to everything. I dont see a lot of mention to food sensitivities but I’m sure it is part and parcel. I have extreme sensitivities to food, supplements, medications, chemicals, sound, light, temperature, any stressful environment. Does anybody also have this level of extreme hypersensitivities with fibromyalgia? 🙏 I would love to hear from you.

    • @olgachronics3273
      @olgachronics3273  Před 3 lety

      I'm glad you enjoyed this video. I did not discuss food sensitivities here because those are not sensory, but yes, it is fairly common in fibromyalgia to have sensitivity to all of the things you mentioned. The degree of intensity varies from person to person and can change over time, but I am sure you are not the only one who experiences them on the more extreme end of the spectrum. Gentle hugs to you :)

      @@olgachronics3273 it is certainly comforting to know that there are people with such extreme hypersensitivities. I believe food sensitivities actually do fall under sensory though as the digestive tract itself is our largest sensory organ. The microbes in our gut are the sensory gate keepers of what comes in and the immune system responds to their sensory input and sends messages back up through the vagus nerve to the brain - this is all sensory processing which is why autistic children etc have so many sensory processing issues with food as well. It is a highly complex system where our nervous system is hyper vigilant to all incoming stimuli. It’s all fascinating but bloody hard to live with! Thank you so much too for your work hugs 🤗
