  • This Brown Trout video is packed with great information! Capt's Bill Saiff III, Dave Zangari and 1st Mate Bill Rafferty attack the skinny waters of Lake Ontario's South Shore with in-line Planer Boards. The boys are using Opti-Tackle's "Ultimate Planer Board" to access Browns in their Skinny Water haunts. The BSO TEAM covers the precise rigging of Boards and discusses how they can quickly optimize your "fish catching"! The team catches some BIG FISH and also shows the viewers how to handle multiple fish without tangling rods. All the GREAT SPOONS are covered too..... I would love to take my dad on a trip like this. Dad introduced me to brown trout fishing in Pepacton Reservoir in 1970.

    I’ve been using your system on Lake Superior with great success on spring Kings, browns, lakers, splake and steelhead.

    how early in the spring was it? March, April? I start my season April 1 targeting lake trout on lake Ontario northern shore. Spring 2023 noticed increase number of Atlantic salmon cought.

    Lamprey eels r a big problem in our lake

      2022' Was especially bad for Lamprey Eels! The Canadian DNR is responsible for treating our streams on the U.S. side and with COVID restrictions during 2020 and 2021, they were unable to cross the border! This is just another example of how the Pandemic (real or fictional) had a negative impact...... Hopefully things get straightened around.

    Does anyone know what the weight of a #7 tin split shot is? Maybe it's just me but I hate the number system for split shot, I find it much more convenient to just go by the actual weight, not to mention trying to find a size to weight chart is like trying to find a needle in a haystack

    Beautiful fish and great show! I'm new but couldn't slamming the fish onto the deck harm the fish? Thanks

    Great video as always. Do you calibrate your line counter reels.?

    • @BillSaiffOutdoors
      @BillSaiffOutdoors  Před rokem +1

      I must admit that I do not. It would be nothing critical for shoreline Browns. I do try very hard to keep reels spooled to capacity. Calibrating reels is much more important in deeper Walleye fishing where the precise positioning of deep running crankbaits is critical.

    How far are your floro leaders from the swivel?

    • @BillSaiffOutdoors
      @BillSaiffOutdoors  Před rokem

      They are the length of the rod. In our case approx 7 ft.

      Speaking of rods, which are they? They don’t look too overbuilt and seem well calibrated for this sort of fishing.
      Excellent videos btw, always was a fan of Bill Saif, seems the legacy continues!
