Thanks James for the great video and yes I would like more cover videos. I was able to pick up the Roland GO.MIXER Pro this week and now with your walk through I can get to work recording.
Fantastic - let us know how you get on
GREAT demo JAMES. Can’t wait to try one !
Do it!!!
Excellent presentation and tutorial! Thanks James!
Cheers!
Great video! Been wanting one of these for a while as recording my practice sessions seemed so confusing, but i know i need to do it to progress - think you've convinced me.
Do it!
GREAT vid! Thanks James! I ordered one of these last week.It is supposed to be delivered tomorrow! 👍😊
Great! You’re in for some fun
Super tutorial! Thank you 👍
Thanks for the great detailed review, James! I agree that the lack of an external power supply is a serious oversight.
Yeah, it would definitely be helpful.
But I worked out over the weekend, after I made the video, it’ll work as an audio interface for my Mac... if I’m away the chances are I will have my laptop on me.
Thinking about it there’s a chance it’ll power directly from the mains by the usb socket too
@@ebassguitar The manufacturer's spec sheet shows USB Bus Power as a power option, so it should pull power from a laptop or computer with a powered USB port.
Great I am waiting for one, is on the way. Thank u for ur review!??
Thank you bro!
yes , more videos please James
More gear videos?
@@ebassguitar gear and specially Cover videos. Ive bought a Roland go pro too on the strength of your great video. Thank you!
Thank you! Very good job
Thanks Del! hope this helped you decide on the mixer!
James, thank you for the great video. Another thing to add to this is you could mic your amp and plug into the XLR input. I went an even more basic route. I picked up a CAD Audio KBM412 Dynamic mic and a Saramonic Smart Rig II Interface. For those on a budget, you can the mic, interface, and XLR cable for around $80USD. The only thing I do not like is I can't monitor during recording. It says you need an app that has 'playback monitoring'. Since I play the backing track through my amp, it is not a big deal. I do a sample run to check the recording levels. How is the monitoring on the Roland Go Mixer Pro during recording? How much latency? Keep up the great work!
Monitoring is fine. Slight issue with the volume as a I discussed in vid... but no big deal
No latency to worry about
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT explanatory video. This is definitely a game changer for people like me who love doing Bass Cover Videos. The Best Product Review Video I’ve ever seen online. One question. In my set up recording chain could I go Bass - Compressor Pedal - Roland Go Mixer. Cheers James 👏👏👏👏👏👏
You’re a kind man... you can put what ever your like in your signal chain.
You could use the stereo input from a processor like a pod or fractal etx
You mentioned the centre cancel function. The sales information indicates that it's not about mono/stereo switching but mainly for use by vocalists who can use the "Centre Cancel function to reduce the volume of the main vocal in any song you play".
Ok! I interpreted that as cancelling the centre
Ring of a jack plug... some of the mini jacks have 3 rings on the connector.
I stand corrected!
Watched this amazing video again. It’s really super.
2 quick questions if u don’t mind.
1. What type of cable goes from the Roland to my iPhone (my video recorder). I know it’s a lightning port at the IPhone end, but what type of connector cable outputs from the Roland end?
2. When pushing my backing track from my iPad into the Roland, what type of connecting cable do I need?
Thanks very much James
I can’t remember the name of the cable... but it comes with the device so you’re set and ready to go.
The audio cable is a mini jack to mini jack...
Thanks for the kind comments :-)
Excellent review. I just ordered one of these. I am considering a preamp as well to beef up my sound. Before I get a preamp, my Fender Rumble 200 bass amp has a DI out. Would you know if I could use that as a preamp? Run a DI cable with a quarter inch jack on one end from the back of the amp into the Roland Go Mixer. What do you think?
That would totally work!
Aguilar make the tone hammer 500 amp so it doesn’t need a speaker load... so one can just use the preamp.
Can we connect go mixer to a bass amp so we can do post eq?
Thanks for the video. When you plug an electric guitar into the Go Mixer, how do you adjust guitar settings? Like distortion/clean etc etc?
When connecting a guitar or bass with an active pickup, use the [PAD GUITAR/BASS] switch to reduce the input
signal to lower the amount of distortion.

*Nice doll. I don’t see the cables. Nice!! I like it*
Doll?
Cool device
It’s great’
Thanks for the video! Can you connect it to a DSLR camera?
I’m not sure… it’s basically an audio interface so possibly not
So what’s the loop back?
Hi im very noob..can i connect the left side input(mono L/R) to my speaker/amp?
Does it also work direct with the Iphone Camera app?
Yes!
will not record audio from laptop to camera, only plugged in bass and mic from phone...please advise!
Nice informative video with one small problem! Where do you buy one of these? In the UK, Amazon doesn't sell it and if I go to Roland they recommend suppliers in France as being nearest to me (South Devon)! Any recommendations for a supplier?
If you google English suppliers will come up....
@@ebassguitar Thanks for that. I don't usually use google for finding suppliers but I guess it worked this time. Cheers Andy
Can you use the phone to video record and play the backing tracks or do you need two devices? (your ipad for example)
I found it needed two devices and that gave a lot more control
Can I use this with my Roland vad 306 drums ? While recording video from camera on I phone
You’d be able to plug the outputs of the drum brain into it
Would this work for live performance? Guitar and vocals, I'm using an amp modeler
Certainly! Have you tried it?
Mine landed today. Very impressed. Getting the levels right b4 recording is key. A question, if u don’t mind....
Is the backing track audio level mix dictated by the source (iPad) OR by the volume knob on the Roland? Cheers James
I think I mentioned in the review it’s controlled by the iPad which was one of my small complaints...
You’re lucky to get one... as it seems Roland a struggling to get parts to make them!
@@ebassguitar I think you did, Yes, I found one in Japan last week, many thanks James.
That would be worth sharing that you can buy them directly from Japan!
I wonder if there is a lot of signal loss, someone said the output sounds more compressed than the original....
This is just what the doctor ordered!
I have a Native Instruments Komplete Audio 2, -- and it is just too complicated for my limited computer skills to even set up... I would be using The Roland Go Mixer on my Laptop Computer (Windows) -- would that work?
I heard about this on The Blues Master Class with Roger Inness, and -- that was great!
Thanks
I don’t see why not! It’s fine on mac so it seems to make sense it would... I’m sure says in the manual.
Pleased you enjoyed the blues class :-)
In UK I have found only one store still with stock, not sure if it is now discontinued
According to other chaps it’s on back order... so hopefully we’ll see it in circulation again :-)
Hi James. I checked with pmt and Roland are expecting stock possibly end of April.
Want to produce simple youtube vids showing my guitar progress. Do you need amp simulator software or can I use my amp which has a line out. I see some vids where the player is wearing headphones and some without headphones. Where is guitar sound coming from. Where is backing track coming from? Looking into the Roland Go Mixer Pro to use with my iPhone. All so confusing to me.
Will it handle the new HI OUT- PUT bass guitars without clipping or limiting out????
Yep... it’s for a volume control for the input
@@ebassguitar oh wow thank you 🙂🙂
How is the slap tone recorded by Roland go pro ?
The phone does the recording
I assume I could use the katana bass to improve tone? Bass - katana- Roland Pro?
Absolutely… preamp will help things a long.
I generally use a sans amp
Normally I use my focusrite scarlet solo connect with irig then connect to iPhone. But the recorded result is very deep even I use preamp. Not too good.
Thanks for the insight! Cheers!
Nice piece of kit. Can you plug your amp into it?
Yep - the output should drive most things
@@ebassguitar hey James, thank you. I was thinking to buy the basic one. Even though before uploading anything I have to pass my harsh judgement 😂
Does it work for instagram live?
I don’t see why not… it’s basically an audio interface
Try or
Did you upgrade to the X?
No… I’m not sure what else it really does?
Great video, James! Would you recommend this as a budget alternative to an amp for a beginner?
There’s no reason why it can’t work as a little practice amp for headphones...
How much price
About £100 - 120 I think
Is this product available in the market?
A new one is out…
@@ebassguitar kindly send the link to purchase it
It would be nice if you included notation and tabs in your cover videos.
Very nice! Thanks for the suggestion! Will definitely do that!
