  • I stopped buying card packs for Fallout Wasteland Warfare, not because I think they suck but because I found a better way to keep track of the unit info for Wasteland Warfare...the app.

Wow, thanks for the mention, I really appreciate it. Another thing to point out (because a lot of folks miss it) is that you can still reference almost all of the cards (perks, characters, equipment etc.) for free. You only pay for the narrative cards (events, explore, quests etc.). So even if you like having the physical cards, the app lets you search for a particular card much faster if you want to check something. You can also use the list builder with the core units and cards for free, which is handy for new players.
    Keep up the great work!

Can't thank you enough for this channel, it is the best resource I've been able to find for general information on F:WW. I just discovered this game and there is a lot of information to absorb, and your videos have been really helpful. Thank you!

I hear you Sam, but that feel of actual cards is too much to let go. The app can go away with the flip of a switch, I'll always have my cards. But I can absolutely see the ease and convenience of the app, and that guy that does it is really in touch with the community

    • @MisfitHobbies

It’s totally fair points and I totally agree. I’ll likely pick up the cards I don’t have if I see them on offer

I would buy one set of cards in case the app is discontinued (and it will be one day). At least if you have some cards you can play the game in 10-15 years from now. Data sheets (ie cards) should be free for download if they don’t come with the minis, and they intend to do updates regularly - imo. It’s been a bit costly to buy cards separately, just to have a playable game out of the box though. Extra steps to get playing with the minis is never a good thing, especially if you’re like me and bought a new box and didn’t realize they stopped including the cards. Digital rules are great so long as they’re supporting it, but future proofing is something to consider if you’ve dropped significant $$ on the miniatures (and these ones aren’t cheap).

I guess if the app was Modiphius made it would have a bit more security to it when it comes to longevity

I get the cards just to collect them. The new Vegas wave was a pain tho, but pretty easy to punch out. Awesome content as always!👍☺️

I've heard a lot of good arguments in defense of card packs, but really the only one that makes total sense to me logically is the fact that having them made in two separate places can cause issues. That being said, every other game I have includes everything you need to play right out of the box, so it drives me crazy that this game is different. I'd be more ok with it if the card packs weren't insanely marked up in price, but they are clearly trying to make more money off of what should already come with the models you've already spent money on. I'd even be OK with spending that much on the card packs if it came with a one time code to allow access in the app or something too. But now they want me to also spend money on a subscription instead. I do think the app is a great value, but I would so much rather have physical cards

The cards are cool I have them for my mirelurks, I do like having the cards all in front of me it speeds up how I play. The app is amazing though makes it so convenient to build lists. I want an app for elder scrolls still.

I adore the app. I've been using it since around the time it came out and think it's fantastic. The amount if time it saves and not having to place chits all over the place is great. I. Still a sucker for physical cards though, so I but them all as well (the wife need not know 😆) and I actually quite like having the character cards sitting at my table so I can quickly check stats and distances without having to flick through the app (even though it's super simple on the app).
Awesome video... more fallout wasteland warfare content please 😁😁😁

Cards are fine if you like cards. They were great up until the New Vegas releases. The new “pop out” approach is awful. I understand why they did it, but it’s still a massive step down in terms of quality. I hope they release them as a proper deck some time in the future.

      @MisfitHobbies  Před 2 lety +1

@@MisfitHobbies I wasn't happy either but they mentioned it in one of the fallout friday's article that it was a necessary decision to avoid having more delays or raising prices. I really hope that with the next wave we will receive the quality ones. I have all cards up until now. If they update some cards I just download the latest version and print it out.

What exactly happened with the New Vegas cards now? Let me see if I have this right. They're printed in a sheet with perforations to remove them from?
I'm guessing that's what you meant, because I've seen that before with other games. They're almost always very cheaply made and nearly impossible not to rip when you remove them.

    Always love your vids!
Any chance to expect a structured tutorial of the Skyrim boardgame from you? The new one, not CtA.
Would love one without too much back and forth chatter between people playing the demo.
The current TTS version has the whole first campaign and market place in it already.

For the people who don't live in a country where the packs are sold (me for example) it makes even more sense to not buy the cards, even because we already have to pay some big extra bucks to import the minis (taxes, fees etc)...

The app will cease function when the developer gets bored of it and moves on to a newer and or better paying development project. Hence I will stick to the cards.
See the FFG dice app for example.

If you buy the minis, you should have free app access AT LEAST for their cards. I bought the base game and a couple of other miniatures, and that's it for me. This business model of selling things that need other things in another box to simply function properly isn't any good. Like "hey, you can buy this car, but you'll have to buy the tires separatelly because we have logistical issues"...
