- The Mustang relies on the same basic formula: big engine up front, rear-wheel drive, two doors, and both coupe and convertible body styles. But it’s a surprisingly well-honed performance machine, and with each new iteration, the Mustang’s become less of a straight-line warrior and more of a proper sports car. So, now in its seventh generation, what’s improved? Top Gear Magazine’s Head of Car Testing, Ollie Marriage, is here to provide us with all the details.

What a sad world we live in. Kudos to Ford for updating them and still keeping it in production.
Cry me a river 😢
@@jessem.5867 Why you even watching this then? Go drive your lifeless EV
I agree Ford I feel like is doing the right thing and I didn’t want to live to see this day come I’m only 17 and there’s already killing off muscle cars. I’ve always wanted one of the top hp model for each muscle car and now it’s making me sad that they are killing them off. I don’t think electric is the way I think alternative fuels and hybrids are the way. What all the governments are pushing isn’t right and it upsets car fans all over the world. And the combustion engine can run so many other things as well. And plus all electric means just more strain on powerplants and the same pollution that was from the cars is just going to be coming from the power plants. There must be another way to save cars with engines someway some how I hope someone finds a way and really soon S.O.E. (Save Our Engines).
Everythin' is gonna burn
We'll all take turns
I'll get mine
What a sad world we live in? This thing is still available with a V8 and a very good horsepower rating! What's so sad?
The Mustang stands as a symbol of American automotive culture like few others, doesn't it? From the iconic V8 enthusiasts to the tech-savvy advocates for EVs, there's room under the Mustang umbrella for all. 🇺🇸 I think we can all agree that whether it's old school muscle or modern innovation, the Mustang stirs emotions. And let's be real, how many cars can be a crowd-pleaser and a "crowd plower" at the same time? 😂
Well said. I certainly love my S550. And perhaps that's the other thing... I've enjoyed my other cars from a deliciously high revving Toyota 2zz to a smooth BMW I6, but nothing is as visceral as my manual V8 Grabber Blue Mustang, customized to my liking.
... I am also very happy to see that many other cars are now plowing into bus-fulls of nuns and school children.
I'll have to be financially stable in every sense before purchasing my first supercar. The best thing to do with my money is to invest rightly till I can afford one
The best advice that i learned from Manny Koshbin is don't buy a Super or Hyper car until you have 10 times the price of it in your Bank account, when you purchase a Super car you add a car to your garage but u add also maintenance and unexpected damages that can happen in future
I understand Manny advice but that's overkill. If most people did that - they would never own one. The 10-15% rule is enough - especially if you make even more with multiple streams of income. My investment properties pay for my exotics cars. It's many different things you can do to afford easily and responsibly. You don't need a million cash to afford a cheap 100k car, My first exotic was 100k put down 20k- financed 80k. Then traded up to more expensive cars.
Now I have an Aventador, so it's not hard at all, Especially if you are making 20-25k plus a month with little to no debt with multiple streams and assets that produce income.
If you have that much money sitting in your bank account, that means that you are not investing your money properly. Money sitting in the bank doesn't really do anything for you because interest rates are so slow. It's better to have $1 million in a place where it can make you 5% on returns rather than having that $1 million sitting in your bank account making you 0.5% returns.
Old school muscle meets newfound precision. Looks cleaner, minimalist and easily recognizable than the old one. I rather like it. Kudos to Ford! The Mustang is coming with guns blazing!
It's weird because in that color at first glance I thought it was a Volvo in their Swedish racing green. After testing out an m4 a couple years ago. I was wondering why people didn't just save the money and buy a Mustang if they wanted a gigantic coupe that handled well. Personally, I wish it was just shrunk down in total scale by 15 to 20% and it would be a pretty amazing car for my taste.
Full disclosure, I have a 2022 mustang gt. I smile every time I press the start button and press that third pedal. That said, good on ford. Manual transmission and naturally aspirated v8. In a world concerned less with driver experience and more with tenths of a second on 0-60 times, Ford still cares about those of us who want to enjoy our cars. All I need is a bit of twisty road and no one in front of me.
Can we not get a new Capri? I'd leap at something from Ford with retro styling but aimed at the GT86 and MX5 and affordable.
Good comment
Giving the people what they want! How brave… Why don’t they all just do it???
I think we'll see more of this in the coming years. As long as customers speak with their money, manufacturers will do it😊
Drift mode sounds like a bad idea
@@redtears1015 you dont have to use it. Its fun for some.
Good on ya Ford. This is the behaviour we appreciate. Enjoy it whilst we can as the end is truly nigh.
Long live the Mustang! Love the Fox body gauges they’re pretty cool, it takes me back to my first car (an ‘87 5.0 LX). Ford is definitely aiming for Gen-X with this.
They're aiming for everyone like they always do 😂
Hey Ford stop killing off the hot hatches! Out here in California 2019 was the last year we had them. Please bring us the Puma ST! I'm ready to unload my Fiesta ST.
For real! Why is it like that in the USA we get nothing good as far as hot hatches.
Mustang as the last, true sports car? A worthy send-off.
Steve M and film Bullit means Mustang will never die.
Iconic.
Ford UK dropped the Ecoboost 4 cylinder a few years back as sales were 80/20 in favour of the V8, so I don't see the Ecoboost coming back for this 7th generation. Also, the last of the V8 6th Gen cars were over £50k, so the price is only going to go up.
That's right, Ford UK had started to price the Mustang out of reach for many.
That's a real shame because it was originally fairly affordable for its size and power.
The ecoboost is mostly bought by rental companies
I think a mach 1 might be a better buy for the money but apart from the dash the Dark Horse does looks good but how much Ford Uk ?
@@wainerollins2587should be plenty of cheap used 6th gen V8's to choose from then❓️
I bought one of the last V8s and have since been told by about four dealers that they expect the S650 GT to start around £60-£62k and the Dark Horse around £70k.
1:30 Profit margin - It's massively built into it
This still isnt the TG we want
Didnt even drive the car. Spent more time on stupid stickers 🙄
good lord give it a rest. Go watch tbe grand tour if you still want to watch them.
I love the 2024 Mustang even though I know several other Mustang fans don’t. Love the refresh outside, love the tech inside and never been a fan of wings but IMO this one looks great. Still love the 2023 as well but I would take either. I am planning on buying a fun car in the next couple of years and have it narrowed down a 67 or 90 coupe or convertible or 2023 or 2024 premium coupe. When time comes I will see what I can get best deal on but glad I have these choices…thanks Ford
The chassis is notably stiffer, and it’s been outfitted with all-new suspension and steering systems to improve its handling at speed.
Its sheet metal has been sculpted completely from scratch from the nose to the rear deck, giving it a more aggressive, boxier appearance than its predecessor, to say nothing of the interior, which is completely new.
Hey
I need an advice :
What transmission do You recommend?
The s650 seats are the same as the s550. I’m 6ft 4 and drove around Australia and found them extremely comfortable and supportive with lumbar adjustment over long drives. So your comment about the seat absolutely bamboozles me and lost me for the video after.
Any truth that Euro Mustangs will be nerfed in terms of Horse power? I’ve heard they’ll be around 440-450 in EU vs 480-500 in US
They're only making around 440 hp out here in the us
@@kamronjohnson1040 don’t know where you’re getting your info from. New GT puts out 480 HP and Dark Horse puts out 500
is it ulez compliant?
The S550 bowed out at £50k for the GT, general consensus from dealers is the S650 GT will start at £62k-ish with the Dark Horse around £70k.
YO. This is almost the EXACT spec I ordered, but with active exhaust and recaro seats. Nice to see other appreciators of the grabber blue, PP, red brake, bronze package combo!!
If manufacturers just build what their customers want, the world will be a better place.
Its sad that ford is making bad choices by ending certain cars and suv's and for what something that isn't going to sell. Im happy that this mustang still has a v8
Obviously it does sell, with a large profit margin, or they wouldn't... But it also carries brand recognition, which is worth a lot to corporations
The irony of being upset that a company killed cars in favor of profitable vehicles while saying the one they are marketing and offering with nice profit margins wont 😂
It is so sad that is not Jeremy introduce the 7th gen to us.
It is inconceivable that Ford can sell the V8 Mustang in the states for less money than the Harley CVO Street glide and CVO Road glide....
When is the release date globally though?
I see one while I was at the carwash today. And yes it was a touch carwash. He's starting off great lol
The Hawaii stickers... Not sure what you're on about with that
Woke crap!
I don't understand why anyone puts bumper stickers on paint. Putting stickers on rubber bumpers makes sense if you like that sort of thing.
LGBTQ2A+ approved decal theme.
Mat Watson should be a Top Gear TV host
I have a bunch of issues with the S650 but what a shame about that big dumb slab of LCD panel. I know it's everywhere... it certainly doesn't mean it's good. What is it going to look like in 20 years? And that goes for any of these.
Ollie Marriage is amongst the best top gear reviewers.
I couldn't agree more. Love his British accent.
Update! If there is a strike in the next day or so Europe might not be getting it anytime soon.
Keep the GT and Mustang alive!
Hopefully, they shed the crowd killer vibe.
That's down to the drivers not the car unfortunately
Did you think of that barb all by yourself?
@@ttown918 I did!
great car!
The last one standing
Its good really good no matter what
They STIIIIIILL have not learned the lesson about cup holder placement that blocks your elbows
The stickers and stuped jokes about them take away from the main focus, the CAR. Thats why people watch car shows. For the cars and the funny jokes, which this video had neither.
Ford will sell the heck out of these, with the challenger, charger, and Camaro disappearing literally or metaphorically (i.e. losing their V8 engine options) this will be the only V8 American sports car besides the significantly more expensive corvette with its automatic transmission
Stunning style..good looking car.
How does it drive?
They got rid of the toggle switches 😔?
Just wait until the Shelby GT500 version!!! The GTD is going to break Hearts:) mustangs are already getting DCT transmissions which will help around the track.
Unbelievable as soon there cars became fast and sweet hacth’s
what is this sticker on the the engine and on the side of the car?
These stickers are like they came from the Crew Motorfest
They're rubbish and woke!
Those panel gaps! Is this a pre-production model?
the front looks like it already crashed into the back of another car, especially notable above the headlights
No. Panel gaps are a known issue for Mustangs. However, this S650 is more expensive, heavier, slower and uglier than the previous generation. So the panel gaps are unacceptable this time around.
Its a Ford. Panel gaps are listed on the window sticker as a feature.
Are those panel gaps normal ? Looks like it’s has been crushed and badly repaired in the front bumper and hood area . Other than that it does look cool . Don’t like the screens in the interior but I guess they did their customer surveys and that’s what most ppl want these days .
So Lovely This car
SUPERCHARGER NOISE
I don"t think I've ever seen an uglier screen in any car. It just doesn't work in something as iconic as a Mustang
its like sitting at your office at work in the place that supposed to make you forget about work and responsibilities
nothing on this car is integrated well, even the dual throttle bodies look weird.
Hand brake emang terbaik
honestly there isnt any other car id want because of how many new cars are either 4 cylinders or hybrids and i dont want either of those
Imagine putting rainbow stickers on it, then again it is the BBC
sick car
I don't find those estimated prices very tolerable. Then again I don't find car prices very tolerable at all these days. They all keep creeping on up.
Race car accessorizes for the PUBLIC ROAD makes a lot of sense
I love the mustang charm. I'll be sure to be very careful when i finally afford one tho 😂
I like how he says its old school and hasnt budged on tech or environmental concerns while the "Mustang Purists" are complaining about the screens and the carbon traps in the intakes. 🙄
Just here complaining about the screens. Buttons and knobs do a better job. The power button and volume rockers still exist on phones and laptops still have tactile keys. But for some reason, car interior designers have lost their minds when it comes to ergo/usability concerns.
@@WhatisaLee designers and manufacturers dont give a shit plus who cares if you cant use the tech in car if it still drives. They want more OTA capability and hope consumers wont notice they are shifting to subscriptions and other ways to milk money from customers. If you had a hard button theyd have to pay Bill in Michigan to install it instead of charging you monthly to enable a heated steering wheel 🤣
Pretty good mustang sound.
If those panel gaps and misalignments of bodywork were on a Tesla, the interwebs would be on fire.
Mustang as the last, true sports car?
What's it sound like?
y'all remember when top gear was cool?
It's truly a somber world we inhabit. 👎 But hats off to Ford for not only updating them but also keeping them in production! 👏🚗🌍
Lmao car bot? Same as other comments
Thought it had 4 pipes out the back
Showed the beautiful blue mustang and everything but didn't even rev the engine and showed what it actually sounds like.
So much of a car enthusiast you have there topgear.
#clarksondiditbetter
HDR on crazy
It looks really good
Oh really
@@HD-wk9zd yes. If you think otherwise that is your opinion
@@WorivpuqloDMogh no, I like it
Are you from UK?
@HD-wk4zd aah, excellent
No i am not
@@WorivpuqloDMogh So, where are you from?
Is it my imagination or is that crappy panel fit between the bonnet and front bumper over the left headlight?
Still love it despite losing 50hp for the uk market.
When did top gear writing and production become like the average CZcams car channel. Jeremy clarkson should teach tv presenting
What I find odd is that they’re filming this in Hawaii just when all of those fires happened….
Why, they are clearly on Oahu. It's like saying you shouldn't go to London because there has been a big fire in Birmingham
@@arnaudvilliard2008 That is a horrible comparison…
I love your contents.
........but I forgot youtube reviews are ALWAYS positive to get more access. so I NEVER take "reviews" serious.......more like a commercials..........all the positive and none of the negative
from all the colors, you picked that???
Everything from the engine, the body, and the interior is chunky. It's so American.
New Mustang and Hawaii, sounds like Crew Motorfest to me....
Lol, the Mustang won't stand alone. Last time I checked my garage, my C8 still looked like the better car.
Nice... Will it be one of the last non-electric Mustangs?
Ceo of Ford said the Mustang will be ICE for as long as it is profitable.
The only thing I don't like about this car is the rear end look
The previous Gen had a better looking rear end
I already see some idiots in the states do some drifts while driving out of a parking and crashing into a pole
Cool car
Fox body retro ❤
Hope this comes to Forza Motorsport & Forza Horizon 5!!!😊
NEW is that Ford steal famous GTD badge from VW GOLF GTD !!!
Mustang in Hawaii = Tourist in a rental car, only one road on Oahu you could open that up on is the H3. Next time review the Toyota Tacoma, the most popular vehicle in da isles , mostly due to potholes, plenty of Hilux still going here to.
Thoes stickers are hard to see
the wheels and the C pilar are very BMW 4 series coupe
Bro this new mustang fr looks like the gta one ☠️
(If I remember clearly)
Nice video. Goodbye ICE! (let's really enjoy it whilst it lasts). Hello Electric! (I know you are out there waiting).
No quad exhaust on that model - have they dropped the active exhaust from the V8? Major backward step if so.
The 2024 Mustang GT can be optioned with active exhaust in the states. Not sure about the rest of the world. You can also option it with Recaro seats in two different colors.
Nice review but did notice that you didn't actually drive the car...
The tech is straight . Inside ok I see u . The graphics for the different screens is mad cool .But the outside of this just does not exactly go. Extremely awkward from the front ..the back is the only part that comes together with the lights and trunk . But again the bottom of the bumper looks terrible
I need to buy a mustang V8 wall on still able to😳
The Crew Motorfest
What are you talking about in that first minute? 1:03 "It has not bent an inch towards environmental concerns or new technology...". I'm pretty sure it meets all the latest environmental, safety, or technological advancements. Ford should be commended for that.
Sad days for sports cars. Thanks Claus.
im glad its blue so the DEW cant burn it while you filming.
Need a 4 door mustang
the difference between Ford and GM: GM would NEVER offer a sports car with an OPTIONAL limited slip. no sports car is a sports car with an open diff. koenigsegg could offer a jesko or agerra RS and if it had no LSD it’d worth $2.
