- Back in 2014, when Top Gear magazine was a mere 263 issues old (21, in human years), we drove a Ford Mustang around America. Not across America, no. We visited every state. The thinking was this: the Mustang is 50 years old. The United States of America is made up of 50 states. So let’s visit every single one. We started right, finished bottom left. 11,175 miles in 15 days, four different crews, 32 tanks of fuel. And more pertinently, sleep deprivation, hallucination, a cabin odour that can still trigger a gag reflex and a quite profound admiration for America’s favourite sports car, the Mustang.
49 states in the plan had been to put the Mustang on a boat to Hawaii, only we didn’t get the chance. For years, it’s been unfinished business, until now…

Last year, a i mad a trip like that one here in brasil, with my mustang, a very rare car here. I went ate Chui, the southerst city um brasil from Sao Paulo city. 6 000 km in 7 days. It was amenzing.

If you want to do something unique and exciting on Oahu, drive out to Dilingham Airfield (out by Haliewa), and go on glider/sailplane ride. You’ll (usually) go up and sail over the Makua Kea’au forest reserve and look down the other side of the island to the Makaha Valley. Trust me…its worth it. A flight in a non powdered glider will rock your world. One last tip for you, DO NOT leave anything in your rental…ever. 👍😎

Being the mustang is the last OG carrying the v8 sports car at an affordable price, I have to like it.
I just dont understand why it's slowly tried to look more and more like a camaro. They were so much sexier and sleeker like 6 yrs ago. However, its the last game in town, if you want a sports car with a v8 manual trans with out selling your children, this is it.

Cool to see the car culture in Oahu, but considering the H1 and H2 have a soeed limit of 25 mph (at least when I was there), and the fact that police use their personal vehicles would make me scared to do any type of speeding

The Mustang can survive a roll over, I'm pretty sure it can handle a larger surfboard. I'm not a fan of the 2 foot long steering column. 😬

1974 to 1978 was garbage.
Foxbody was 1979-1993 (refreshed in 1987).
SN95 (New Edge) was 1994-2004 (refreshed in 1999).
S197 was 2005 to 2014 (refreshed in 2010). 2011 was the introduction of the new 5.0L Coyote V8 engine.
S550 was 2015 to 2023 (refreshed in 2018).
S650 is 2024+ with the 3rd generation 5.0L Coyote V8 engine.

It has only been my choice of American Sports cars... I currently drive a 2022 Roush Mustang & will never sell it, even if offered $1 Million Cash USA Dollars 🏎🏎🏁🏁🚩🚩👩🏻🚀👍🏻 It has the Tremec Rev-Match 6 Speed Manual Transmission, with MagneRide Dampeners. It also has the intercooled Limited Slip Rear Differential as the GT500

Im a 2015 GT owner who was looking to upgrade who has been kinda disappointed with the s650. For me, it's just not different enough to justify the VERY high price. Then there were some really questionable decisions. The worst of all being the increased weight. I remember complaining about the s550 weight but the s650 is approaching Dodge Challenger weight. Weight just hurts everything. I also really dont like the gloss black lipstick on the Gt's front bumper. Then there's the Dark Horse. I like the look of the DH but again...its not different enough to justify the price. It's basically a Mach 1 replacement thats significantly more money. The name Dark Horse is also bizarre. A screaming 5.0 v8 is not a "dark horse". That name and definition make far more sense for the Mach E. The emblem is kinda uhhhhh girly... just looks like something my gf in middle school wouldve drawn. Idk. Hopefully there's some cooler models coming out but im sure they'll be approaching 911 territory in terms of cost... it may be time for me to move on from Mustang but we'll see.
