  • Welcome to Bonita's Kitchen! Today we will be making Chocolate Gelatine Pudding, this is a old fashioned dessert.
    This is one our elders would make for Sunday's years ago!!!
    I'm using Knox Gelatine!
    See recipe below!!

    I have made homemade pudding many times in my lifetime, Bonita. But I have never heard of this before. I'm game to give this a try....Bless
    You for teaching this old dog new tricks. Your Raymond gad me giggling like a school girl when he admitted eating the missing cup last night. Life is too short not to have fun along the way. My husband and I still laugh together after all these years too.

    Another one I gotta try. We used to have this at Sunday supper dessert years ago. Made your apricot raisen cheesecake. It was delicious, as was the traditional Newfoundland cherry cake. I also made the pineapple dessert. That was a big winner so far. Best wishes.

      That sounds so lovely, thank you Peter for sharing your family fav's with us. Sunday's was a big food day in our homes too. Of course years ago our folks would make a big Jigg's dinner/Sunday dinner. Supper time was a Cold Plate and dessert was custard and jello or pudding. Lovely memories. Thank you for stopping by and enjoy our new recipe this week. :) Bonita

    Thank you so much for a great recipe idea. Sensitive to regular milk with lactose issues I can easily change the milk to make it lactose free. Happy Valentine’s Day a bit early to you and Raymond. Spoil each other I know you will. Dee & Noel

    I keep going back to this marvelous dessert. Today's batch I made trying 1-1/2 cups whole milk and 1/2 cup whipping cream. The result is a slightly denser but much richer tasting. Either way it's a real winner.

    I made this last night, let it set in the fridge and enjoyed it with breakfast (pancakes and homemade breakfast sausage patties). Mine oddly separated into two distinct layers - about half a light milk chocolate color and the bottom half dark chocolate, but both layers were mighty tasty. I might cut back the sugar a little. Thanks again for the recipe.

      @bonitaskitchen  Před 4 měsíci

      Oh my that is so lovely. Maybe the cocoa powder needed cooking a little longer to stay within the pudding, I'm glad it still taste good.... Thank you so much for letting us know and the next time you will have it prefect!! I made another batch last night using 1/2 cup sugar. Still more than sweet enough. The portions again separated into two layers of light/dark chocolate color, and still VERY-VERY tasty. I cooked the milk a lot longer this time but it may just be the Droste cocoa powder I use that causes the separation. No matter, this is my new FAV dessert treat.

      @@chicagorandy I'm glad you made it again and I guess it's must be the cocoa powder you used. Maybe next time try dark chocolate melted. Have a wonderful day and thank you for sharing your findings with us..... We are cleaning up from a snow storm today, lots of snow. :) Bonita

    Bonita, I just happened to run across your channel (the strawberry squares popped up on my screen yesterday), and I see that you have many interesting recipes online, including some specialties from the area where you live. At first, I was confounded. Your name indicated a Latin background, but I see you are not and also your accent threw me as well, until I saw the word Newfoundland on the screen. Oh, my. That is an area I am totally unfamiliar with, only that I believe it is located near New Brunswick, around there, close to Canada, certainly not my neck of the woods.
    Anyway, I wrote down a number of your recipes I plan on making in the near future, including this chocolate gelatine dessert, the reason being that I noticed too many manmade chemicals and additives in Jello products. I would much rather make pudding without all that. I also noticed many delicious soup recipes I want to try out as well as several breads. I am amazed at the ease with which you make your breads, thinking to myself, why haven't I thought of using those methods before. I am like you when making desserts...I heard your comment in the chocolate walnut cookies video...that when it comes to making something like that, you just want to make it enough to make it taste good, that you don't bother yourself with making it too fancy...something like that. I feel the same way. I will continue to watch your channel in the meantime. In fact, I subscribed yesterday.
    When I eventually make one of your recipes, I will definitely let you know how it turned out by commenting
