The Bruins beat the Canadiens 2-1 in double OT on a goal by Nathan Horton, to take a 3-2 series lead in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, on April 23, 2011.
@@user-eg5tu2qx7p Tim Thomas did what rask never did (because I’m optimistic this is his last season) which was WIN WHEN THE GAME IS THE BIGGEST! All those who sniff rask’s jock love to talk about how great he was, and yes in the regular season he’s usually very good, but the one thing you will see is the more important the games get the lower he performs. Just look at what his numbers are when his team faces elimination.....they tell you everything you need to know, when the lights are the brightest and the moments are the biggest he shits his pants. That’s what separated Thomas during the 2011 season....he won those game 7’s and those overtime games!
@@ProudBostonianRask deniers are braindead. You can talk about how great Thomas was in this run without trash talking Rask. Tuukka was a huge reason they made runs in 2013 and 2019
Thomas was the difference maker for the bruins that cup run no doubt at all. If only he was younger at the time and stayed healthy would have been the clear number won and easily would have won another cup with him.
game 7 against Tampa was arguably better in my opinion. No penalties, Stamkos broke his jaw and came back out. What a game that was. Happy we won, but pure hockey beauty.
@SaveByThomas me too. granted the save on downie was amazing, that was the most important moment of the playoffs. without that save, we lose game 5, lose momentum, and probably lose game 6, series over. that was absolutely pivotal for the bruins.
This night was so amazing, me and my friends, we are habs haters, we were so drunk in a club, the game was on tv, when horton scores, we make so much noise, everybody was watching us, it was crazy, and after that, we can't remember the night, blackout ahahah lol Sorry for my english, from Quebec City, we want Nordicks Back!!!
Ironic how Ryder made the series defining save lol.. Love the Habs and the Bruins... Respect both teams. But still think considering Price is a kid lol he will be the best in the league one day. Hope to see Thomas back.. but doubt it..
Has anyone noticed that when subban does something that could be called a penalty. He throws his arms up in the air and starts talking to the ref like he did nothing.
I am a fan of both Montreal and Boston , seing those 2 teams go up against each other is probably the best games ive ever seen , they both deserved the cup
@evanfifield1 On top plays of the weekend neither the Ryder save or crazy Thomas save were on there. But yet, there was a play where a guy made a 3 pointer. ESPN just doesn't like hockey.
"Recchi/Gill would've been the most mismatched fight in recent memory" Yeah but don't let the fact that Recchi would have absolutely clobbered the soft nonfighter Gill discourage you too much. Loved Gill in boston, but he's a mid pairing stay at homer Lady Byng type. He's not a fighter, not even a little bit.
I should say that's not trying to take anything from gill. He's defensively sound and knows how to use his size in a hockey game. it's just that if you're counting on him to be your big body in an old school sense, that's not what you'll get. he just doesn't have the ability and instincts to be mean enough to play that game, which is why he's viewed with contempt in Boston -- they were hoping he would be what he can't be.
@MAINEiakBanana ESPN loves basketball, it sucks. They will have like 5 slam dunks, two three pointers, then like one hockey play. Its ridiculous how many basketball plays they have, they aren't that great.
Yeah because a Save Percentage of .917 and a GAA of 2.59 is so terrible, the man is nearing 40 and ha dealt with injuries this season yet he's been solid, plus Tuuka Rak's numbers are nearly identical this season with a Save Percentage of .929 and an GAA .211 with one of the best Defensive cores in the league around him.
Who was that? Who TUUUKKK? You mean the guy that's been benched the last 5 games, because he can't play well enough to get a win to save his life & that Khudobin is the B's MVP up to this point. Rask is/was & never will be a Tim Thomas! Moving on!
Wish they hadn’t ever let him go! The one guy I’ve been hoping they’d let go is still here unfortunately, but at least I’ve learned that when he plays in the playoffs we will NOT WIN! If he gets the start this year in the playoffs we will be out in the first round mark my words! He’s probably the most polarizing player I’ve seen in my 35 years on earth and watching the my B’s (I grew up in Boston about 7.5 miles from The Garden/Fleetcenter) for probably 28-30 of those years! I fall on the “hater” side even tho I don’t think it’s being a hater when you have evidence/proof to back it up. On the plus side Swayman looks like he’s ready to take over....and they should start NOW! Let him get his feet wet in the playoffs, I would much rather lose because a ROOKIE goaltender struggled in the playoffs because he hadn’t ever experienced it then to watch Teflon go out there yet again, get our hopes up, only to SHIT HIS PANTS AGAIN when it’s an elimination game for us!
Lol I know your comment was 5 years ago, but Thank God nobody important agreed with your idiocy. Brad Marchand is awesome! He needs to be a Bruin for Life!!!
Thomas made jaw-dropping/-eye-popping/hair-raising saves in this playoffs. Holy shit.
Carey Price didn't suck either.
Brad Marchand can play. Just stay on the ice....
Definitely one of the best Bruins rosters ever. Every player did his part and did an amazing job. Man i miss this group.
not the best roster (alot of heart and toughness ) but without a doubt the best goalie since mr zero !!!

That Tim Thomas save on Brian Gionta gives me goosebumps every time.
Tim Thomas was special

one of the most epic goaltending duels in the last 10 years, possibly longer
Andrew Johnson Best ever, Hasek and Brodeur 1994!!!
This might be the best game I've ever seen.
As of when it happened, maybe. But I think Game 7 of the ECF in 2011 was better. And Game 7 against Toronto last year in the quarterfinals.
BruinsChampions2011 What was better 2011 game 7 against the Hab's or game 7 against Toronto
I know you didn't ask me but Game 7 against the Leafs is probably better tbh
Would you of ratherd it of been Montreal that collapsed since they are Boston's biggest rival
game 7 against Tampa was arguably better in my opinion. No penalties, Stamkos broke his jaw and came back out. What a game that was. Happy we won, but pure hockey beauty.
Michael Ryder- Glove save and a beauty!
Remember watching this one and was pacing around the living room the whole game
i firmly believe that if timmy didn't make that miraculous save at 11:30 in double overtime, the bruins wouldn't be drinking out of the cup right now.
Glove save by Ryder, oh my god, everyone went nuts!
This is the game where I fell in love with hockey
My God I miss hockey with fans

That was an amazing save by Michael Ryder against his former team

Holy backcheck from Michael Ryder with under a min left in regulation

Amazing game. Classic Bruins vs habs nail biter filled with intense emotion and great goal tending.
Best playoff save ever! Ever!
exactly y bruins and habs are the best..rivalry, best goal tending and best players. comin from a bruins fan
one of the best hockey games ive ever witnessed.
