- In late April of 2024, two women would attempt to ascend the infamously dangerous and difficult Mt. Johnson in Denali National Park in Alaska via a steep and challenging route dubbed "The Escalator". This is their story.

If you answered yes to the first but not the second question, I would suggest that you rectify this discrepancy immediately, as I have a HUGE list of deadly mountains across the globe I've still yet to cover, and you wouldn't want to miss out! Robbie was my friend. She was a great climber and forest ranger in the Adirondacks of NY. Always having a laugh when we ran into each other on trail. Robbie will be missed.
We are sorry for your loss.
No she wont. Rest in piss
I didn't realize this was about her till I saw adirondack explorer post about the tribute in the high peaks today. Sorry for your loss. All I know of her is our ADK rangers are some of the best
Last update I could find is from early May. The climber who survived is out of ICU and in stable condition, but has a long road ahead of her to rehabilitate.
Miraculous indeed. She’s extremely fortunate. Hope she’s doing well in her recovery!
Thank you very much for that information. I think anyone that listened to this was like what the hell man, did she survive or what!?!
We hope she recovers quickly.
❤

I lived in Alaska for many years. I have seen Mount Johnson and Denali. It's unbelievably beautiful. I didn't try to climb though because I'm sane, but I did get some great pictures.
A good buddy of mine (we’re both professional mountain guides) was one of the climbers above them involved in the rescue. It was an epic retreat for them getting back down to their camp on the glacier. They abandoned the rest of their trip.
Whoever named that route either didn't know how an escalator works or was too high to be wandering around outside.
More like the "up-the-down escalator route"
I lean more toward drunk
Badassery in the comment section, even has proper grammar! 🫠
Another incident that drives home the importance of verifying, rather than assuming, people are deceased. Miraculously surving a fall like that, only to have no help come for you because everyone is already mourning? It doesn't bear thinking about.
Did you slow down your voice on this video? I had to speed it up to 1.25 to sound normal, each word lingered too long and was giving me the creeps without even paying attention to the story
🇨🇦the other climbers and rescue team members are amazing. Risking all for a stranger.
As soon as you said 52 year old I knew it was curtains 😢😢......... The fact one of the climbers survived through the heroic efforts of the othe climbers was nothing short of a miracle.
I cannot comprehend what a fall like that would be like. Especially to survive with that memory forever. I have seen drunk drivers survive unimaginable accidents but this is another level
Another fine video, Midnight ,thanks 🎉
❤ love the content, thank you as always
I lived in Alaska for many years, I have seen Mount Johnson. It's unbelievably beautiful, I didn't try to climb it though, I had to pass.
Enjoyed the video. However, the pace and cadence of the narration felt more halted and stuttered than normal which was a little distracting. Great story as always though.
noticed that as well. I ended up running audio at 1.25 speed and was less distracting
Okay, so it was not just me. Really weird...like he used a voice over program.
Just speed it up to 1.25x
They’re all like that. I think it’s supposed to be a “creepy” voice. But to me it sounds like a special kid reading from a script.
Most likely a stroke
Another Tragic ending, but a Great Video! 😀
only tragic endings on channel that has “Morbid” in its name 😅
Just what I need to end my birthday ❤ thank you for another amazing video Mr morbid
Happy birthday!!!
Happy birthday, my fellow Gemini.
@courtney Thanks for the update.
Never thought tethering was wise! To each his own.
Excellent content as always
This channel makes me glad I never took up mountaineering as a hobby.
thank u mr morbid
Hmmm, did they have ice screws in that blew out? Or were they on a stretch where they placed no protection? I'm left wondering...
I dont know
Always helps to see the route.
Might be a cool video to do on other people who have survived falling down mountains
I still feel confused as to how people approach these steep mountains for the first time. Like... where do they start from and how do they climb sheer vertical rock....
Otherwise thank you so much for your awesome content!
Very sad for both these ladies , wonder how survivor is doing? Rip other gal

Yes! New Morbid Midnight!!
Died living the dream.
No disrespect, im just jealous. Spending life stuck in a chair is not fun.
Thanks for the anotations in metrics thats dope
And hope all is well with you
Yes indeed! More like Elevator route!!
Love the channel but i gotta bump it up to 1.25x speed sometimes 😂
I bump it down to -.75 occasionally 😮
You never mentioned if the other one survived... I understand Robbie passed on God rest her soul... But do we know the status on the other?

Please ... Ditch the undertaker voice.
Please don’t
i tried that route but there was an unruly mountain goat named neil who was hopping all around me and farting in my face so i went home
Yeah. Then you woke up with your boyfriends azzz in your face. Youre a rettaard.
❤❤😢
Thanks to the rescuers

Now do the Shishapanga Women's race debacle 😏
I will be googling this.
@@cruelpulse two women racing to be the first woman to climb all 14 8000ers. Both died in avalanches same day.
Your cadence is like nails on chalk
What computer voice is this?
The wacky robot cadence is getting a little over board…
Bail that, even when I was young. I like trails .
Best not mount Johnson.
It stays hard all year round.
Great CZcams handle BTW!
@tottimothykenison9885 thanks Tim!
Too old and not enough upper body strength was likely a contributing factor to this accident.
Rest in Peace
sir you talk funny and very slow
I have to play his videos at x 1,5. Is he speaking so sloooow to pad out his videos? Irritating to say the least.
@@domesticterrorist483 you could be right but my thought was trying to set a creepy mood...but either way just stop it lol
Wind up the narrative, to oooo slow sounds like you're dragging out your words, and need a key in your back to wind you up, or drink more coffee, great content and you didn't used to over exaggerate the narration, please FIX IT 😊
Dude. You are a ROBOT
WE MADE IT!!!
3 QUARTERS OF THE WAY TO 100K!!!!!!!
So… therefore, “we” didn’t make it… at least not yet.
What a dumb comment to put in all caps.
They call my johnson “Mt Johnson” (too soon?)
can you talk little faster xD
I like the slowness it matches the story ...
Girl power🤪
HA!
There’s always one ahole like you.
l dont get it ....l never got mountaineers who would attempt such dangerous slopes. Tragic to die that way. Ask anyone ''doing their favourite thing''. None of them like dying that way ....or ANY way. Dying is horrible! l'm struggling trying to get to know Jesus because l believe what HE said. Especially about hell.
This demonstrates the lengths some mountaineers will go to to rescue others in distress. Those folks who climbed down willingly put their own lives in danger to save the women who fell if they could. Those are some brave souls! Props to them.
@@Tubesmaney ~ Yes INDEED! lts amazing how people can help each other in need if they want to. lts what God tells us to do. Thank you for your comment. :)
Death is just part of life, and often especially for mountaineers, an arbitrary one. It happens. A lot of the mountaineers I’ve spoken to don’t feel like people even really live, they just exist until they die. I don’t totally agree but I do believe people tend to die how they lived, and I’d like to live doing something I’m passionate about.
@@Ausaini17 ~ Well l do agree that it happens, but l dont agree that its a ''good thing'', unless you believe in Jesus. Paul said _''For me, to live is Christ, to die is gain''_ ~ Philippians 1 :2l ...as Jesus defeated death when He walked out of the tomb. Trying to make following Him a reality in my life. :) Easy to say, not easy to do.

Good content, but the narrating voice is truly terrible.
I really really do wish I could stick around for these videos... but the voice. Patronisingly and painfully slowwww!!! Goodbye.
Why.....do you read.......your script..........like this?..........The.........entire story...........was hard...........to follow.........because............of the long..........pauses.............between..........words.

@@user-rp7yf8xu8h Mighty clever there random username on CZcams.
Narration on this one is awful. Couldn’t watch past 2:38.
*Bro you need to work out the cadence that you’re speaking in. This video was particularly awful. It’s like you put the wrong emphasis on the wrong words and your pauses further make it almost impossible to focus on the content of what you’re saying. I’ll stay subbed but if you can’t get this under control than I must show myself door. 🤷🏼♂️*
