This is truly an amazing video! I was on the mountain with you guys and we crossed paths between camp 2 and camp 3 if I recall correctly. I recall you saying that you were going to ski down and make a film. And here it is! I'm so glad that you made it. All the best for Everest.
Well done Caroline. I am glad you recovered and beat your fears. This is a very inspiring story and I thank you for all the extra effort of sharing it with us 👍
I have seen this video like 20 times ! Since you released this video, I have been training towards this goal, ski down the Cho Oyu ! Thanks for this great experience and big congrats !
Caroline Gleich, if you're reading this, I want to say awesome accomplishment and all respect to the both you as well as all the other climbers involved. It must've been quite a sight to see. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and Kanchenjunga in the distance. I was wondering, any plans (in the future) to climb any of the those?!!
I feel the "fragility of life in the Rockies at minus 5 celcius.. can't picture what it would be like up there... sure is pretty though; thanks so much
Congrats on the summit!!!! And I understand the calling of a mountain. But I'm not fortunate enough to be able to go to places like this. Although I want to so bad I just can't afford it. But I find great joy in watching videos of mountains I want to see.
@@CarolineGleich been find raising for 8 years. Maybe got 8 grand. Been training for longer than that. So next summer to show people in serious. I will do 6 mountains in 8 days. Range from 10,000 to 14,000. Maybe I can enough funds to at least do Denali
Awesome video! You deserve so many more views, maybe you should make your text for the video a bit different, so more people can see it and see your amazing acheivement. Perhaps "Skiing down Cho Oyu, sixth highest peak in the world" and make the picture for the video be a picture of you skiing down :) You go girl! Can´t wait to follow your Everest Expedition, best of luck, and be safe :)
Awesome film Caroline! We met at the Patagonia store in Chamonix about a year and a half ago, when you presented your film on skiing all the lines of the chuting gallery. I hadn't heard about you before that but I started followed your adventures since, which has been very inspiring! I recently snowboarded down my first 6000m peak in Bolivia and people like you motivate me to keep pushing and growing, perhaps one day also snowboarding down an 8000m peak.. Thanks for doing what you do! Oh and one quick question: did you guys have overboots to wear over your ski boots? Or a changeover into ski boots at the summit?
We used overboots with our ski boots and took them off on the summit to ski down. We also sized a full size up in our ski boots to accommodate the swelling that happens to hands and feet at high altitude.
would you recommend Cho Oyu as a good first 8000m To climb (obviously as good as climbing to that insane height can be) I have been thinking about something along these lines but to see you ski down it really shows how genuinely insane you are !!! Congratulations !!!!

Skiing is my favorite sport too I am also planning a ski expedition in the Himalayas.

It took me a long time and a lot of fundraising to save up enough money to afford it. It was a huge hurdle for me for a long time.

Awesome vid! Will you be climbing Everest or k2
What do you use for anchors when roped on a steep snow covered slope?
