Climbing Ama Dablam

- I had the chance to climb Ama Dablam in the fall of 2021 with @Seven Summit Treks
Located in the Khumbu region of Nepal, the mountain famously looms over the Everest Base Camp Trek. Its name translates to "mother's necklace," with the the two ridges of the mountain representing the arms of a mother (ama), and the necklace (dablam), being the serac that hangs on its face. Ama is what I call my own mother back home.
We actually spent quite a few weeks at Basecamp, and left to climb Island Peak half way through, so the days are a bit rounded up :)
Anyway, thanks to @JacksonGroves for helping document the journey, and for letting me borrow his drone footage after mine crashed - you can see a screen-recorded bit of my last flight over camp 2 at the end of the video.
And to @Seven Summit Treks for sending us to cover the climb. Thanks Furtengi Sherpa for being an awesome guide!
And finally thanks to Everest Outfit for kitting me out with the summit suit!

Outstanding filming. You seem very natural at altitude. I have climbed Island Peak a few years back and I was gasping for air. You make it seem so easy. I can’t wait to see you bag some 8000m peaks. I have been dreaming about going back to bag this peak and your video may have just inspired me to go back in 2023. Thank you.
i cant wait to climb island peak this year im so tempted to climb both mountains this year now
There are certain tools ( like altitude tents) that can help you prepare for such heights. Yes 6.5k meters above sealevel is tough. but it is doable
The video quality is excellent. Great video, thank u!
Thank you Pema and Jackson! for sharing the spectacular views 😊🙏❤
Woww…👏👏👏👏…you are a great inspiration for the women around the world..hats off and massive respect ✊
Absolutely incredible video, we loved watching. You are an inspiration😊🙌
Excellent film! Subbed! Not sure why the algo is keeping the channel views down but your work is very good! Best Wishes from AZ!
Congratulations you two!! I just came back from Ama Dablam Base Camp and got through your channel just today & ended up watching many other climbing vides of yours. Inspiring! ❤❤

Amazing! When I went to Nepal this was my favorite mountain. I only looked at it from a distance… I could only imagine what is was like to summit.
One of the best videos for Ama Dablam.. Strong woman 💪

Geeezzz!!! 1.) you’re seriously such a badass and a half 2.) those views!!! So incredible so thank you for making and sharing this with us. More people need to watch this and your master at your craft 🎥 👏🏼
Outstanding video. Those places for camp is surely no place for sleepwalkers.
Great video, I am going this November
Thank you Pema for this beautiful video. I am heading to Ama in a couple of weeks. May I ask what camera you used btw?
Wow 💓🙏🏻🔥🇳🇵
Wow, the production of this is incredible!!! Heading there next year, I can’t wait.
This video is incredibly shot and deserves way more views, and you deserve way more subscribers!!
2 questions: At Camp 2, how do you sleep in a tent that is that sideways? And, could you please tell me the song at 6:00? Thanks!
This is so beautiful. You are so brave. New subscriber here 🎉❤
Amazing, such a peacful vlog, easy watching. What camera do you use? Such good quality
Hi Pema, my kids and I are big fans of your videos. My 9 year-old daughter seems particularly inspired! Quick question, did you or someone in your group use Acrux AR boots for this climb? I thought I saw the characteristic “red toes” in one of your shots. I have those boots but figured they wouldn’t be warm enough for Ama Dablam. Thanks!
Beautiful Vlog... Hope to summit Ama Dablam S𝔬𝔬ɴ😃
it looked just as hard coming down as it was climbing up
xactly
धेरै राम्रो । धेरै गार्हो पनि होइन तर सजिलो पनि छैन ।
congratulations ..
hi there, what month did you do this? i am planning march end or Beginning April to summit. wanting to make sure weather is decent enough during those months.
How did you find the difficulty of Ama dablam? Ive just climbed island peak and im already planning my next climb, it would be a dream to climb ama dablam. Would you say its too big of a jump in technical difficulty to go from island peak to ama dablam, or is it doable?
❤❤❤❤
HI, I am seriously thinking about this trek but have no true mountaineering experience. You made it look somewhat easy and has prompted my interest again to climb it. I fell for the mountain when on the Everest Base Camp trek. Can you please tell me how difficult it really was and how much training/experience is needed? Thank you!!!
Really more than you think !
With no Mountain experience, you have à few steps to do before.
But those days, people don't want to take time and learn...
Alpinism is not a to do list...
Incredible views!! Do you need to register the drone or get some permission to fly a drone there??
which drone did you use for the videos up there? thank you!

Doughter of Himalaya🙏🙏❤️🇳🇵🇳🇵.नेपाल हिमालयकाे देश हाे।त्यसैले हामी नेपाली जाे जहा भएपनि एकपटक हिमाल चढ्नै पर्छ है।
What camera you used?
Climbing yap but climbing with style 💅😁👌
Amazing👏
What month was it?
Oct
the hardest part is not to climb but to get down
Hi, how much experience did you have before attempting ama dablam? I'm planning to take it on as well but not sure how qualified i am.
Very little rock/ ice climbing per say, but hiking 2/3 times a week for 3 years with a pack. So in good physical fitness and learned the rest.
just wing it bro
Song at 6:00? Anyone?
#DangValley
why no one has an ice ax?
Commercial Himalayan climbs - no one uses an ice axe 😅
I want to grow here with you, like your smile 🤍💔🤍
Hay there...may i know the travel or climbing company? Thank you
Seven Summit Treks
@@PemaTravels thank you 👍
How do you have the money to afford to go on all of these expeditions?
I’ve gone on all these expeditions in exchange for photo / video work (plus 2 8000m peaks to shoot a climber).
@@PemaTravels You certainly earned it. Spectacular video. Your cinematic talent and magnetic personality is priceless! I did EBC in December 2019 and scheduled for Mera Peak November 2023. Your video was so inspiring but I'm 60 and better not exceed my limits and stick to Mera Peak for my final climb. Thanks for sharing your adventure and beautiful smile with the world...
Please do not wrap the rope on your hand while using the jumar or when descending .... :)
Peccato che per la mania di gransezza di pochi questi luoghi magici vengano trasformati in luna park. Elicotteri, tende, corde, rifiuti. Che tristezza.
I feel sorry for the mountain.😞It has fixed ropes permanently in place all the way to the summit. Truly a tamed mountain.
Such a civilised 'climb'
Is Jackson your BF? He has great abs.
VERY BAD audio
I don’t think your audio would be good at 6800m! Or have you ever been that high or even carried a camera or mic to that elevation? 😘
@@PemaTravels audio was super good and very nice fitting soundtrack actually. congrats on summiting! what drone are you using? do you use some special propellers to be able to fly that high in I assume windy conditions?
@@PemaTravels Under those conditions, your audio was fantastic! I was impressed with your use of subtitles when the wind was extreme. Do you think my DJI Mini3Pro drone will fly at Mera Peak altitudes? Best wishes!
