- Oh, the joys of being robbed in a foreign country! Cultural immersion!! ✌️💋
No, but seriously I'm thankful that I'm safe and a little smarter because of it.
And who could have expected that the same cops that were supposed to help me would end up just wanting an English lesson. This was a wild one! Thanks for coming along 🍻

What have been you guys' experience in Colombia? Do you feel like it's a safe country?
I am planing to go soon I hope is safe
@@muastat7027 I felt safe 90% of the time there...just gotta watch your back in certain areas...usually the nicer ones
Hell no first night we got robbed by the police . It was the worst traveling experience of my life
@@bilalr7881 robbed by the police- what happened? Just asked for a bribe or what?
Thanks for sharing mate. Looks like really stable footage. What are you filming on?
I had the opposite experience in Colombia. A bad taxi driver stole my iPhone in Medellín. I tracked the phone to a bad neighborhood in the south where he changed the phone’s name to Juan’s iPhone. The cops were more professional and helpful than I’ve experienced anywhere else in the world. They met me in the neighborhood and we tracked the phone to a six story apartment building. I assumed that was the end of it, because I knew the location but not what floor of the building it was on, but the cops said they knew of a taxi driver with a reputation for stealing phones. We went to his apartment and knocked. In that moment my iPhone went offline, so it was obvious he was there and knew the cops had found him. The police asked us to go to our taxi and pretend to leave. Meanwhile they wandered the neighborhood pretending they were still trying to track the phone. The trick worked. The phone thief made a run for it and we caught him. I was blown away by how effective and dedicated the Medellín police were.
Wow, what a story! 🎉
The police are more like military in that country
Use a passcode lol he couldn’t have done it with one and maybe it would have been easier to get it back from him
@@TheFruitingChamber of course I used a passcode. Not sure how he got around it, but I know the thief jailbroke the phone, and I was surprised I could still track it after he did that. I could have simply reported it lost/stolen to Apple to make the phone useless to him, but fortunately I didn’t immediately do that because I wanted to try to recover it first.
Most likely, only because you're a foreigner. Colombia doesn't want foreigners to have a bad opinion, about their country, it's NOT good for their tourism. 🤔
I got robbed in Colombia too. My wife had some dirty diapers she put in a backpack until we found a trash can but before we could find one, a man grabbed the backpack and took off running with the dirty diapers inside. My wife, my child, and myself are okay though.
got robbed for all your shit

came for the getting robbed story, stayed for the awesome free styling. had no idea what they were saying but loved every second of it
At one point the dude free styling called our boy Steven seagall lol
@@CheeftainWiggums the same two guys did the exact same rap for me, and When I was leaving I heard them doing the same routine for another guy..

It's cool how you can even tell someone has a sick flow in another language. Music is such a cool connecting thing.
Rather heroic was the guy that rescued your phone.
amazing actually
its a game they're amigos , then later you pay the saver and the saver is a friend of the robber
@@user-uv1oi8wt4y I don't believe that. The risk is the thief gets arrested or worse, and the reward depends on if the guy even gives a reward. Would be the stupidest scam.

you gotta be pretty street savvy in Colombia, I typically visited less touristy places, but typically left my jewelry, phone, passport, most cash in the hotel rooms safe and only brought $20 a passport copy with me, when walking around the city. If two guys on a bike pull up next to you and stick a gun to your head, thats pretty easy to give up. Also, not dressing like a tourist and walking around with a backpack and all that, is a pretty good idea. Just trying to blend in and always being aware of your surroundings
completely agree with you, leave valuables in your hotels or wherever you’re staying!
until the hotel robs your shit lmao @@jeffjones9934
Ah, the "freestyling" with references to Mike Tyson and Rocky Balboa and "You are the boss". Had to duck into a fancy restaurant to evade those dudes!
doesnt helpe he is a tall single white dude that looks chill and a target.. lol
That’s easy bro but it may not be such a good idea to leave all your valuables behind when they stick a gun to your head and kidnap you , they would be more pissed off if you don’t have valuables or any ransom money but trust me you’d come up with ways to give them the money after you have been tortured . Unfortunately this is what is happening know . When they kidnap their victims they don’t care if they have anything on them because they know they would get it through torture . The lucky ones are released alive but most simply disappear . Colombia is just not worth it
i got robbed in france once and i totally get how you feel after. its no fun at all.
Robbers in France are polite in comparison, this is in the middle of a large city centre in S. America not a ghetto/ favela, side street or alley way. Thankfully he's okay. Stay safe traveller.
I've been robbed 5 times in Ireland, cops do nothing, no point in reporting crime anymore
bro do your europoors even hear yourself when you talk lmao "robbers are more polite" FOH doesn't matter where it happens, your arrogance is honestly insane @@abdu1wahid105

Those regatón guys are always there I’ve seen them .it was very cool should have been the intro .shit happens all over Colombia as you know the cell phone is a big target give it up never resist they are stupid enough to do something evil and the, police don’t care they are underpaid and overloaded with cases .never carry anything you aren’t willing to lose .hire a guide in the unknown places.the touts and beggars in Cartagena are exhausting a guide can chase them off as well .hopefully this video explodes I’m surprised you don’t have thousands of subs .great video thanks !

Hey bro, love the content and the way you show how it is backpacking alone around the world. I did a ten year period of backpacking to 35 countries. As much as I like a few other travel vloggers, I really relate to your realistic videos that show what things are really like as a budget backpacker.

I've traveled extensively. Back pockets/waist bags/backpacks are an invitation to brazen street thieves. The very best solution I've learned is my "heavier quality" leather chest bag that is flat. It's got /strong straps/buckles THAT ARE ATTACHED WELL. Worn over the head and one arm through in front of you ABOVE your waist. Some have a strap that incircles your upper waist, which I didn't care for. The good: It's positioned allowing hands free service, and access is directly where you need it, not hanging to the side or need of removal. The downside: You've less room for your possibles, but THATS good as well. Less to entice or loose. The best: Money transactions are so much faster/safer/and close to your vision. Mine has an inside front flap that folds out to semi-shield prying eyes while sorting monies. Purchased in Spain for a song, it flat WORKS. ~Best
Rap was legendary! Awesome you caught that on camera
bro I just stumbled across ur Chanel, what a find! love ur content man, keeps me laughing
You should sign those 2 rappers to a label. They were friggin excellent

We’ve been in bogota for 2 months and moved last week in Medellin and I’ve heard a lot of things about robbing in Colombia. But thankfully, we’re still safe. The people are so friendly and helpful. But of course I’m always been very careful, I’m coming from Philippines and this robbery thing is not new to me.
Oh wow, I'm sure your background helps. I'm exactly the opposite, a little too trusting but this experience taught me a valuable lesson!
Im from Philippines and I was drugged there so dont trust anyone even if they are friendly

your skin color probably has something to do with it. the first hour we arrived in Colombia someone attempted to pickpocket us, luckily my brother and I had an agreement to stay awake and stand guard in case any tried to pickpocket us. many people tried to pickpocket us, it happened most when we were gathered in a group outside of the church after a wedding. we are white so we got a lot of stares. many people seeing our skin color and trying to sell us stuff for 2x the price

I got mugged in Cartagena in 2021 center of old city. But could easily have happened in NYC.. Loved Cartagena Medellin. Went back in March.
That's called being traumatized, you have to go back out or you will become afraid of going anywhere. Don't worry it will make you stronger.
The cops helped him with that
those freestylers were incredible. hope they make it big one day
New to your channel, but I think it's pretty awesome. The one bizarre thing though is that you sound so familiar when i hear you speak. I think its because your mannerisms and sayings sound exactly the way my friends and I sound when we're around each other. Hopefully you take that as a compliment. Anyways keep up the good work, and maybe we'll swing by Patreon soon as well. Thanks again
once again, HUGE RESPECT
My husband and I were on a bus in Guatemala and my husband kept patting his pocket on cargo shorts making sure his wallet was safe and then people came to sell items on the bus and he was standing and a guy took a knife and slit the pocket open and grabbed the wallet and unhooked the back jump door in the back of a bus and tan with his wallet. We never got it back and by the time we called our bank to alert them several items had been bought with our visa, they said it was because he patted his pocket to check that his wallet was safe actually alerted a thief to wear his wallet was. He now has a pair of shorts with a slash through them and a crazy story. We’re grateful he wasn’t hurt.
That’s so cool they got your phone back for you. In America if you get robbed and other people see they are just gonna record for TikTok
Not true, America is a country where people will help. Especially if you're in the south or midwest
@ryanreaction People in the US would want to help, but the gun/self defense laws would make them less likely. If you did what this hero did in the US, you would catch a charge for brandishing a firearm.
In America if you get robbed and *black* people see they are just gonna record for TikTok
Bro I Love your channel but I laughed out loud when you asked for a sweet caramel cigar at a place like that in Columbia 😂
Wonderful filming very professional. Keep up the good work .
Wow so pretty. Those cigars looked very nice, and then that rap segment was balling man! fuck that was sick. 😅
I have been watching your videos while I eat lunch. What a gem of a channel. You rock man.
Your v-logs are special in a very 'can't put my finger on it' way, Connor. Authentico! Congratulations. There's just a funny observation though -- for someone from Washington DC (the dupe capital of the world, the established hub of taking advantage of the world) to get startled by people trying to dupe them for a change. Irrespectively, great couple of Colombian freestylin' rappers there - wish you'd just plug in their social media here out of the goodwill of your heart, so that they'd find an audience through you. Thasall. Safe travels.
I got robbed in the nicest section of Poblado and got tasered. The areas that you get robbed and have a lot of gringos. You must be careful
Yes bro- this goes right along with what I was saying about tourist areas! Be carful out there!
this shit was so funny, he was just filming the traffic then other clip rolls by of him just pacing and saying " i just got robbed " 🤣🤣
That is the reality of living in Colombia. At any moment you can become a victim of crime. It is so common there police don't even make a thing of it. rule of thumb always hide your belongings and walk with direction. Never, ever trust a local. You were very fortunate that someone had your back.
Extremely lucky I know it! God was looking out for me that day
even more-so if you are white. my first time in colombia, it became very obvious they see someone white and think we're rich. i had a lot of hands go down my pockets, none of them were consensual 😂 and plenty of stare-downs with the locals. apparently it's not considered rude to give someone an absolute staring contest while you walk by. even then they aren't satisfied with that 10 second staredown, they turn around after i walk by and continue to stare!!!!!!!
They will help you in santander and cudinamarca, but the coastal region is kind of degenerative
wow the freestyling is amazing, maybe best ive seen
That cigar shop was epic!
they absolutely popped off on that freestyle
This channel better blow tf up
Love your support bro thank you so much!!
Damn I'm starting to get addicted to your channel. Stay safe.
I was raised in Cartagena until 06', my parents used to take my siblings and I to Tairona every summer in our Renault wagon. We also went into the Sierra Nevada, beautiful jungle with ice cold rivers. It used to be way less popular and crowded in the early 90's! Very Fond memories. Sadly Cartagena has been going through a very rough spot since covid and since illegal immigration from Venezuela. The future looked extremely bright in 2010ish, but horrible city management, overbuilding, overtourism, sex tourism, drug tourism, violence etc. has almost completely ruined the city. It's just a mere shadow of how tranquil and beautiful the city used to be. In my 18 years living there I never got robbed or never heard of anyone I knew experiencing it, but nowadays, I'm not surprised, especially in the area you were walking through.
The cops are just extremely underpaid (and sometimes not even paid) locals who have extremely low morale and motivation....unless you bribe them.
my only travel outside the US ..... 2008 to Bogota which was not fun..some good food and nice shopping mall but very noisy .... however we took my GFs Jeep on a road trip and stayed in Villa de Leyva for a few days .... HIGHLY recommended ... the locals are very friendly , , the town is very historic , the hotel was super nice , the food was fantastic and we took a hike into the jungle and repelled in a 100ft waterfall ....
I love getting that culture shock when I travel. U make me want to goooo
OMG! What an adventure!
Type 2 fun haha
Also it would be wise to carry your backpack in front so it would turn to frontpack
Or else you might find one day all your pockets opened while you focused on something else
Saw that happening in touristy areas a lot
The rappers were great.....so much passion and expertise.......all in. Regarding the robbery: Local thieves all around the world will always exploit a seen weakness if we have one. At that time, you had a few. I am sure you have cleaned up your walk since then. Thanks for the vid.
"who knows what the day holds" *smiles*
The man bun is a target .
Dress paramilitary and look fearless and the punks will think twice . I lived in Mexico for five years wandering about the whole country usually with a guitar cased and that helped to diffuse a couple of really dicey situations when some desperados appreciated the fact that I could actually play. I wasn’t leading such a kosher life back then but most often they where more afraid of me 😎
lol dude nobody is going to think twice at some cringe gringo because hes wearing camo pants
I rode my motorcycle from Portland to Ushuaia Argentina and never experienced any problems. I stayed in Bogota for 3 days.
Those freestylers had actual talent, wish more rap was like that
I have been travelling around the world for a long time, thankfully. The only times I had problems were in France. As an Italian that was awful, twice.
@dawatislamiarmyoftheummah we were insulted, followed and attacked at a party where they threw bottles at us. In another occasion also assaulted and threatened.
btw iphone doesn't erase clips. So if you go to your bin of deleted items it's still there
Only if you delete it there its really gone
they do go away after 30 days though
Yooooo came too see you get robbed but man i stayed only for that freestylingggg
Dudes freestyling went hard
Dude yes!!!
Lol this video was so bizarre, frightening and funny at the same time.
Stay safe though 😅
The freestyle was insane good
Wow!! Be careful. That was shocking.
You got away lightly :) Been to 60+ countries and was robbed more times in the month i spent in Colombia than anywhere else :) In Santa Marta I was staying 100m from the beach, left my keys at the hotel reception and walked over to the beach wearing my swim shorts, a $2 t shirt and $3 flip flops, no towel. Took off the tshirt and left it beside my flip flops on the beach and went for a dip. Came back 15 minutes later and my tshirt and flip flops had both been robbed lol Had a phone and money robbed in Cali, and $300 robbed in Cartagena lol On the way back from Tayrona the guy sitting on the bus behind me pickpocketed my camera from backpack, didnt notice til i arrived at the hotel. Narrowly avoided several other attempts to scam me out of cash in Bogota. Didnt stay long enough in Medellin to get robbed :D Some of the nicest and coolest people in Colombia despite all that though, but as a newb backpacker you are a lamb to the slaughter for thieves and scammers in Colombia. Dude in your vid claimed Catagena is safe - "look at all the police everywhere!" My ass lol Wtf would there be any need for tourist police to be everywhere if there was no crime goin on lol Be careful in Colombia folks :)
Connor the BOSS! those two spit hot fire.🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋
That's the coast, you should go to santander or cudinamarca. Completely different kind of people and very helpful.
You should come to Costa Rica You would loooove it ✌️🇨🇷
Protection of tourists is SO important for a developing country. It prevents tourists from coming and makes a bad reputation for a country. Smallest of crimes, but has MASSIVE impacts for everyone involved. Columbia the one country this guy gets robbed in. Quite telling.
Wow what a rollercoaster ride. everything is fine so that's hilarious.
Those dudes rapping killed that for sure 🤙
Guys with man buns are always vulnerable. Facts
I gave a like, coz of the rap. It wa awesome ❤❤
Does not matter if you are a tourist or a local as far as flashing expensive items on your person. Inside the walls of Cartagena one is pretty safe because of concentration of police and you are in a contained area. But outside the walls in the street is a different situation and Cartagena neighborhoods beyond the condos are people scrapping for a living.
UNA PENA...Colombia esta plagada de DELINCUENTES como todo país subdesarrollado...
Words of wisdom.
$30 dollars is most definitely not at all expensive for a quality Cigar. I actually choose to not smoke, and even I know this.
but I do have friends that enjoy them.
Good day fine sir.
True. If you find a "Cuban" cigar for cheap, it is 100% fake. They aren't even cheap in Cuba, because they are so coveted for export.
This small brained is also small wallet
never change south america❤
I love how this world traveler is actually so surprised he got robbed in Colombia. Of all the places he's been I'd put it in the 95% range of 'it's gonna happen.'
i was in cartagena last year and my brother got his phone stolen at the beach by a vendor. the tactic they use is a bunch of them swarming you and talking to you trying to sell you stuff and what not and they realized we lived in america because my brother spanish isn’t that good so they proceeded to keep distracting us and one of them stole his phone, please leave your phones and valuables where you are staying and don’t bring them to the beach, and when walking around don’t carry your phone in your hand or in your back pocket your best bet is to put in in a purse or something and keep a tight grip, just wanted to put this out there for any of you who want to visit colombia or any other country where tourists are vulnerable!
What an adventure !
loved the history of the war. also carlos has the prettiest teeth ive ever seen

Been travelling in all parts of Colombia for over ten years, never been robbed. But I don't walk around with the equivalent of 3-4 months average Colombian wages in my waist band! (would you walk around anywhere downtown, USA with $8,000 hanging outta ur pocket?) If you expect and plan to be robbed, you probably won't be! Only carry what's easily replaced and maybe don't wave a $1200 phone/camera around in the street in 3rd world country. Colombia: the people, the scenery, the food, the prices are a wonderful btw.
You never thought you'd get robbed? I was constantly watching my stuff while in Colombia!
This looks exactly like San Juan Puerto Rico, same same!
I am enjoying your videos and living vicariously through you. I am not a worldly traveler. I grew up in Canada and now live in the states. I have traveled to the Caribbean and Mexico. I don’t like big cities, and I probably will never go to the places you do. I have no interest in being a walking target. I have family that travel all over and I have a cousin who went to Spain and was robbed twice in the same trip. I suffer from too much anxiety to be on my toes constantly.
I’m at 11.40 and i just saw he walked past a guy,the guy in the cap turned round and looked at him and has just followed him. He’s turned round to film something in a shop and the guy just pushed past him..is this where he gets robbed? If so,I’m not surprised..but I am VERY surprised he’s not being aware of his surroundings! I’m going to watch the rest now and see if I’m wrong
Was a different guy that walked by him.
How talented were those freestyles??? Wow 👌

You can be a victim of a crime anywhere, not necessarily bad part of town. Most likely in touristy places.
Agreed- I think tourist areas are more dangerous
Shout out to the rappers. That was awesome.
