It still blows my mind that, even when I was there as an occupier, the Iraqi people were more hospitable to me than my own family. Even when I knew they rightfully hated me, probably wished I was dead, and had very little they would still give gifts, feed you and offer friendship. I wish Iraqis nothing but peace and prosperity and someday to visit again. A piece of my heart stayed there and will always remain there

As someone who deployed to Iraq it actually doesn't really surprise me. The people were all super nice while we were there. • @charleswhite758

Don’t believe that most men could do this either (or would be so foolish to try). This is a very risky venture, the guy is totally reckless (he’s young and feels invincible) but that equals extreme entertainment. You need a certain very outgoing personality to do this (to be foolish and trusting enough to do so). Some females can do similar things, for example Itchy Boots. Her trick seems to be to display no fear, to laugh when feeling threatened, and to repeat endlessly “No, I don’t have time for a boyfriend”. This guy is not very physically strong, he could easily be over-powered.

I'm Iraqi living in Salahu din provence which was captured by Isis. Even though my city seems dangerous because it was in the middle of the desert and was under isis, it's still safe and I see women and children at night. More secure and modern cities like Baghdad, Sulaymania, Mosul are totally safe. You're very welcome to come, just don't be too nice to dudes and don't walk alone around dudes, especially at night. If you have a husband or bf it's even better.

@zacm9747 we still have American soldiers there now! What are you even talking about "Not old enough to have seen a soldier". We as soldiers taught him that behavior lol. We as Americans don't colonize places instead we invade, destroy, and destabilize places, then we either flee (Vietnam, Iraq, Afghan,) or stay there long term (ie Japan and Germany). We don't tend to colonize places and just take it over as an owner.
