Honestly the anonymous gm storyline was better than 2020 raw
well considering what was going on in 2020 at least there was a reason for the drop in quality.
I think the concept of the anonymous gm is good but the end with Hornswaggle being it ruined it. If they put an actual heel behind it as an authority figure it would’ve worked

WWE should have waited a week before doing their trial run with the WCW reboot. They were in Atlanta the week after they were in Tacoma, and Atlanta was WCW's backyard. It's certain that the match between Buff Bagwell and Booker T would have been better received in Atlanta.

It wouldn't have mattered and probably would have failed even bigger in Atlanta.
It wasn't that fans didn't want the WCW angle...it was the WCW "stars" WWE were able to use to push it.
The angle was never going to work if it was just WCW midcarders. And in Atlanta...fans would have expected A list WCW stars seeing as how Atlanta was WCW's home.
They needed Sting, Goldberg,The NWO....basically what made WCW win the ratings war for 83 weeks.
If WWE were able to get the A listers of WCW out of the guaranteed contracts Time Warner gave them and signed them to WWE contract the whole WCW invasion angle would have been one of the best angles in the history of pro wrestling.

Honestly the WWE VR idea seems kinda cool. It probably didn’t generate enough revenue for them to continue on with it though.
A lot of these would’ve worked if WWE had seen them through. It’s a slap in the face to fans when they drop them and treat it like it never happened.
Raw underground should definitely come back that sounds so interesting. the smackdown hacker should come back and it should be revealed as edge.

For just a note, some of this concepts worked fine in another promotions. Maybe it's just the case of the always, irritating, persistant and useless resistance of Vince McMahon to adopt new ideas to his product. A new idea needs time and development (with a competent group of people working behind it) to have success. We see this in all type of sports, media and shows.

I think RAW Underground could've been good had the WWE or to be more accurate Vince had faith in it. Can you imagine how it could've improved had Vince actually had faith in it.
The invasion angle could've been the greatest storyline in wrestling history if they'd had the patience to wait out the time of the old WCW contracts...
By 2002, Triple H and Benoit would have returned from injury to join up alongside Austin, The Rock, Angle, Undertaker, Jericho and others to face off with Hogan, Hall, Nash, Sting, Flair and Goldberg...

I still stand by RAW Underground to this day. It was actually creative and unique. It wasn't just the lazy way out, i.e. more wrestling.

Yeah. He would have been smart to keep WCW and ECW in tact as separate shows, but leave the original creative teams there to manage their own scripts and writing. AEW is like an offspring of that deal gone wrong. People have been mad at Vince for decades lol.

I like that the Shield wore masks, but I didn't care for their design. The Skull look strikes me as an unwanted relic of the early 00s Xtreme Edjy Boi aesthetic. The 2018 masks were an improvement, they had strong Noob Saibot vibes.

Pretty much all of these failed due to lack of follow through and Vinnie Mac's preference because it didn't draw money instantly. The lack of continuity and the way they drop things all the time is one major reason why storylines can never be taken seriously. McMahon's opinion that fans don't remember anything is a bunch of BS. We always remember and get disappointed constantly.
To be fair, other idiots in upper management don't ever plan out things long term, it's always short term. It makes potentially great things fall apart or get shut down instantly if it doesn't generate money in short time which makes things much worse and harder to get done.

I don't remember the WCW reboot, I stopped watching wrestling in 2005 and started watching again last year. These current wrestlers need better entrance music and personas
for personas, i agree but for entrance themes, current ones are good if they add something like a sound effect that they did in attitude era like the gong and the glass shatter which will help in identifying who is who.

The turn buckle camera was a good idea. The raw underground was a good idea but if it was handled better I bet it still be on today. Raw dark was a good idea but needed to be presented better
If I remember the shield took off the masks because they were still really early in their run all things considered and Vince wanted people to see their faces since he saw all 3 as future main eventers

I really enjoyed a wrestling game that was on the sega dreamcast system, it was a like a royal rumble game. Not many people probably know of this one. Im not sure exactly the name. But the first few wwf smackdown game on playstation 1 & 2 were my all time favourites.
Too bad that the Raw Dark thing didnt work, on concept it looks really good.

It’s insane that Vince the man who revolutionized the wrestling business and saved his fathers company through racial and insane new ideas like acquiring company’s and ending the regional thing and intertwining the company with major entertainment and stars and created 2 separate time periods of wwe supremacy back to back is one of the biggest reasons he’s losing so much. He doesn’t understand somehow the need to change and actually shake things up and push the right people in a new generation where we see almost everything his wrestlers do and the very nature of Kayfabe is shattered a generation that is so used to violence that it doesn’t phase most of us. It's solely because it's a safe brand for sponsors, advertisers, and other TV focus networks to dump their ads without dealing with controversy. It doesn't even make money out of it's main product anymore, since pro-wrestling is considered a niche product in the US, WWE has made most of his money out of simply TV contracts, streaming deals, tie-in and sponsorships. Every time I hear anyone badmouthing any promotion that's not WWE without any constructed criticism, he always sounds like a batter wife whose gaslighting him/herself.

Depressing hearing about the list of names you mentioned talking about the junior division. That was peak WWE for me growing up when they had all those great cruiserweight. Paul London/Nunzio/Mexicools/Funaki/etc.

In Mexico, the "junior division" or "minis" are a huge attraction. Most of them are legit great wrestlers. It's such a shame it didn't work in the U.S.A, but that was expected. It would never work.
The only thing I remember about the Smackdown Top Ten was that Randy Orton got into a feud with Bobby Roode about it and then it vanished into the ether.
Anything that Vince has thought off in the last 18 year or so has been straight crap. Yet everytime a wrestler gets interview and tells the original plan it always sounds better than Vince
