If they brought in Cena as a heel with the Zhong Xina gimmick, sporting the Mao haircut and speaking Chinese, I am sure it would be a hit.
That moment pissed off both sides of the political spectrum that his apology didn't help.
🤣🤣🤣☠️
I don't know why Vince doesn't do this. I guess he hates making money.
@@ReMeDy_TV Because Vince isn't in charge anymore. ... At least, as far as I know.
That would have been *hilarious*
Triple H burying Mahal at a house show in India is just classic Triple H.
India might be a potential huge market for foreign companies but Indians don't seem to be interested in wrestling.
not even football (soccer) became popular for Indians. and India was a British colony for 200+ years.
so yeah, not everything really sticks the wall.
India and China aren't interested in soccer or wrestling.
@@LevisH21You actually got it wrong. Indians do love wrestling, can't say the same about football (Soccer). The only issue with WWE is that they cannot sell their franchise at normal prices here. They need to provide discounts. But considering the customer base here (1.4 billion), even if they sell 1 T-shit for $10 and assuming they sell it to 1% of the indian population which is around 14 million, they make huge money. During the Attitude era, almost every school student here had a debate on who was better "The Rock vs. Stone Cold". Things went bad for WWE since the Cena era. Even though kids today love wresiling, the fanbase for WWE has dwindled as they stopped putting out good content.
@@aswinastro Divided? It is good content. Most people say its the best time in WWE for years
@@JohnDoe-dw3hj Not sure about that, during the Attitude Era, even 10-year olds here in India could recognize and cheer for mid-carders like Scotty2Hotty, Rikishi, Bradshaw, Farooq and so on. Even Mid-carders got solid promo segments and TV time and most of the time, they entertained as he'll. But today, we'd be lucky to see 2 midcarders cut great promos or put on good shows. Script writers writing for wrestlers has killed their creativity. Heck, people thought Cena is a great promo worker, I was like - Dude cuts great promos, but compared to the wrestlers during 1998-2002, Cena's promos were average at best. That's how low the bar is. Hell, even Dwayne Johnson promos Suck today.
@@aswinastro Dude thats just your opinion. You don't speak for others. And I do not agree with you
#3 It comes as a genuine surprise to me that Vince McMahon not only recognized that he had made a mistake, but that he also apologized to somebody who worked for him.
Just goes to show how awful Vince Russo is. One person no wrestling company should hire again.
I know right
same was shocking

Fun fact, WWE are STILL doing NFTs. If you receive those notification emails of WWE regarding future events, etc, they’ll often promote their new NFTs that are still coming out
I guess they don't care about environmental issues lol.
FACTS.
Cool
Well NFTS lose money so they must love losing money
Maybe they'll do what Jeff Jarrett tried to do and that's sell gold bars
1:48 Mahal and Great Khali both raised the belt upside down after winning. Great job, guys.
The WWE restaurant club thing would be a good idea if they opened them outside of the US. Not everyone wants to sign up to the network and it would become more of a social thing, like going to watch the football game at the bar with friends, you could take your friends to watch Wrestlemania in a social setting without needing to fly to the US and see it in person. Have them show old shows and maybe backstage content 24/7 and serve WWE food and drinks. I'm sure someone with a modicum knowledge of marketing and business can turn a profit from that. Maybe do a deal with a brewery, they fund the bars and you sell their beer exclusively and market it for them on the shows.
It wouldn't be that hard to do, surely.
it'd literally just need to be a WWE themed sports bar. doesn't need to be fancy. just good food and drinks at a reasonable price.
@@TGPDrunknHickfacts
It definitely wouldn't, and don't call me Shirley
I honestly think the Jinder Mahal experiment could have possibly worked had they pushed him as a babyface. When he's just being himself, he's a very likable person. I think one of the worst things about modern wrestling is the lack of genuin personalities. There's far too many people trying to play fictional characters. Nothing is organic anymore.
They should've really built him up first because he was a jobber part of 3MB for a good few years. Suddenly slingshotting him to the main title was a bad move especially since he didn't even have a credible finisher at the time he won it.
@@zeospark9715 If he would have been a babyface, it wouldn't have needed much build. That would have been the shocking "Kid beat Razor" moment.... I don't think anyone has a credible finisher anymore since everyone kicks out of everything multiple times a match.
@@zeospark9715 he was hit in india, I am from India who hell pulls out title off ur most lived and admired superhero when ur are target the huge audience from where he belongs, wwe viewership rose to heights after the great khali, and then jinder, the problem with wwe is it makes giants look like bunnies means what the hell. But later recently they did superstar spectacal which was hit. The biggest problem i observe wwe did to target indian audience is they have partnered with shitty Bollywood character writers and promoters who themselves steal majority of script from Hollywood and translate them to local language and make a movie. They have hired those baboons. Definitely wwes marketing advisor are bunch of babboons who have no idea about india wrestling tradition at all. That why they hired shitty Bollywood script writers they are bound to fail it india. Also thiers a tendency with indians customers they aren't consistent bcoz they don't ha e much of disposable income.
the problem with that is for years he's been booked as a comedy character and a jobber, so for him to jump as a WWE title contender in a matter of weeks made no sense.
@@megamanxhunter The definitely done it way too fast. It could have still worked if he were a babyface. I mean look at Orange Cassidy. He's an absurd comedy act that should be a heel job guy instead of a rising babyface star, and he's the drizzling shits in the ring on top of that. People love him for reasons beyond my understanding though, so why wouldn't the people have accepted Jinder?
I haven't watched wwe since like 2006, but I still enjoy videos like this.
2008. We missed nothing
@@inc2000glw disagree there , were plenty bright spots in the early 2010s you shouldn’t sleep on ; but with that being said still as the decade went on the official death of the WWE inevitably happened

Been to WWF New York multiple times back in the Attitude Era. It was nice atmosphere, love the merch, food & drinks were great at first but after 2001 things started getting bland & wasnt the same. Still props to Vinnie for starting a wrestling restaurant cuz it pursuaded wrestlers to start their own like Lisa Marie(Victoria/Tara)
That’s so cool!! I would have loved to go there. I am still looking for videos and pictures of it how it used to be.
They could bring it back especially now we're in the era of social media.
@@reasonali They could do in similar way how Nickelodeon partner with well established buildings when they had a hotel partnership instead of Nickelodeon creating their own hotel which caused troubles down the road.
Like WWE should do a partnership with an already established restaurant/bar to host WWE events.
They could have easily earned revenues if they sold it via franchise system like a sports bar, where wwf / wwe theme designed were used like tables made looked like rings with a grand entrance style entry gate, and drinks named after wwe superstars and a live telecast of wwe shows.
You can expect WWE themed restaurants if Disney buys them

WWE Studios had a hit with "The Scorpion King" , the movie which got the Rock mainstream attention and launched his movie career.
How old are you? Do you remember the scorpion king video game on ps2? 😄
But it wasn't entirely WWE studios film. It was just one of production studios
The Rock first appeared in The Mummy Returns as Mathayas a year before The Scorpion King was released .
@@madnomad3861 i think wwe only got involved because Johnson is credited as The Rock.
I was surprised to see a piece of the first episode of WWE Slam City in this… Ah, memories
Cena’s SummerSlam 2021 gear (particularly the shirt) is one of my favorites. Had it been sold individually for the normal price I would’ve definitely got it. The $1,000 for that whole bundle just was not worth it to me.
Def the best Cena shirt

When WWE fails they fail completely. Thanks for the perfect examples.
I didn't know most of these. That's a really deep dive in WWE history
Other WWE Flops
- The infamous Brawl for All in the Attitude era
- Raw Underground which was basically a modern version of the Brawl for All
- Random guest hosts for Raw in 2009
- WWE Saturday Morning Slam
- WWE's version of ECW
- The XFL
- Mr. McMahon's Million Dollar Mania segment
Was the random guest hosts really a flop, though?
@@ckdaimen8028 no.
Saturday Morning Slam wasn't a flop. That shouldn't be criticized that much when it's basically just a wrestling show on a kids block.
@@ckdaimen8028 not at all, met Snoop in Duval when he came. Wonderful experience as a child nonetheless.
@@SAHNHOVAalright, but what did these stars contribute to the product and viewing numbers.
Laurinaitis also hired the wrong one-legged wrestler instead of Zach Gowen. Vince chewed him out in front of the poor guy's face. Zach was then hired for real by a red-faced Big Johnny...
R-truth: Super Cena Bros 3 is my childhood game
I guess the WBF and XFL don’t count since they weren’t “technically” WWE.
The old XFL was basically wrestling on a gridiron. The players had names on their jerseys that would not have been out of place in a wrestling promotion.
Idk, they had WWF New York on the list
The WBF was a complete work. Vince started it just so he could sign Lex Luger to a contract because he was convinced he could make him the next Hulk Hogan, lol. Luger was either still under contract with WCW or he was under a non-compete, I can't remember which. Either way, he couldn't appear anywhere in a wrestling capacity, but he could appear as a bodybuilder.
XFL 2020 was better than the 2019 nfl season and will be back in spring for it's second season now owned by the Rock. The draft is on Nov 16 and 17th
@@Fourmath wasnt vicent fault..was the COVID .
How can you not mention Raw Underground!? 😂
It feels like wrestlelamia have a ton of ideas for what to put in A ranking video so they scrap a few to put them in the Intro to shrink it to just 10.
I forgot bout dat bs 😂
Wasn’t that “Raw Dark”?
@@dcatura1 No that was before that. That was around when they announced the 24/7 championship.
I don’t think the Laptop Raw manager was a flop. I truly enjoyed it then because it was unpredictable. You’ll just hear the tone in the middle of a match and Micheal cole gotta read it out loud 😄
I thought it sucked, it just went on for to long...
Stopped watching wrestling in 2005 but your videos are very entertaining
I never even knew that there was a NXT Kids.
WWE in India could've been a more sucessful if they for once decides not to give Indian fans a middle finger. Like throughout the promotion they promised John Cena then suddenly replaced him with Roman Reigns. I know fans in India love Reigns too but fan following of John was much bigger than Reigns even the casuals who don't watch WWE in India knows who John Cena is.
😅Exactly and Indian wrestling fans will choose Randy Orton over Jinder Mahal anyday
this is one of the biggest reasons, they ignored cena and they didn't realised how popular john cena is here.
The biggest mistake wwe has done is they have partnered with shitty Bollywood promotion companies who just think indian wwe fans like dancing and saying shitty Bollywood movie dialogues. Wwe please if you want wwe to be successful in india get away from Bollywood. And get in touch with real wrestlers yeah they might not know good English and might be good at in ring skills or skills with mic. But even brick lensar isn't good with mike. If you are eager to find you find tonnes of paul heyman. Get away from Bollywood asap.
Just out of curiosity how many times has WWE tried to secure a market in india? Cuz I remember them doing this all the way back to just before the attitude era
I am from India and belive me it is wwe's biggest market but they don't know how to do buisness here back in 2017 the ticket prices were so high that many fans couldn't afford that so they didn't sold out the arena but somehow if they make some good strategies then they can do good buisness here too and btw guys like cena, taker might help in that coz these two are the most famous wrestlers here.
@@unbiasedguy8636 taker and cena are both not wrestlers anymore.
@@150booyadragon they don't need to wrestle to draw.
i actually think jinder winning the WWE title COULD HAVE been cool IF they did it right
Some of these ideas I can see that WWE were trying to do something different- keyword: trying- but I can also see why they fail
wwe new york was a fun place when i was a young teen. only ate there one time, and glad i'll have that memory for life.
Raw roulette was an amazing concept I remember the Stacy Keibler vs Trish Stratus paddle on a pole match on Raw that match was awesome the Divas Era During The Ruthless aggression era is an iconic time period and it needs to be talked about more often.

If they retooled I would too
I would have bought that Mario themed Cena shirt if it stand alone on the shop, but that bundle was terrible
Others agree. My nephew wanted that shirt too. Design was a nice tribute to SMB3 but for that price...HELL NO!!
WWE stole that Mario theme from CM Punk and they did because of his debut on AEW Rampage
@@Hilda1204 bruh you can not be serious. It’s an iconic Mario cover so of course John Cena had one. I don’t think they care that Punk had a shirt like him

Wooow it is a very good info to know
Thanks for this new info maaaan
Regarding Indian expansion: maybe if you didn’t say to an Asian person that they “all rook the same” like it was still the 40’s, maybe it would have gone over better!
WWE should've known that Randy Orton is more loved than Jinder Mahal in India
Yeah I remember hearing that there was an autograph signing at an event that Mahal was at and NO ONE stood in his line. It's sad to hear because a heard he's a really nice and humble guy in real life. But if a guy has been built as a jobber for the past few years suddenly becomes WWE champion, no one is going to take him seriously
Bruh no one cares about Jinder Mahal here in India. WWE thought Great Khali formula would work for Jinder Mahal.
In India people love rock , taker , Lesnar, hhh , Roman ,Khali the most ...rest r insignificant
Another thing that failed miserably was when WWE had that Raw special host thing. Every episode of Raw had a special guest host. That thing went on way longer than it should have.
Both the Scorpion King and The Rundown were successful for the WWE. I can’t speak on the other stuff that went straight to the DVD section.
The John Cena black T shirt is weird
@@DanielDeLeon69 it was for last year’s summerslam

What’s about that boxing tournament, that was wild lol!
Wasn't it Brock who made it so Jinder lost the title to AJ.
Brock didn't wanna face him at surviver series. He likes working with the smaller guys, plus the matchs Brock had with AJ and Bryan... 🔥
Yep but it was more that Brock didn’t want to work with Jinder
they gave jinder a title run but not santino😢
I REALLY thought Santino was going to get a run at Elimination Chamber but they never pulled the trigger.
You didn't mention Tout...that was a HUGE flop there...
The Juniors Division was amazingly entertaining tbh
Ten catastrophic flops in a perfectly ten minute video. Dunno why but it feels satisfying.
I thought the Mario 3 parody shirt of John Cena should've been sold on its own rather than being apart of a crappy expensive NFT bundle
Raw dark was actually made in 2018. The Juniors Division is basically the well acknowledged Cruiserweight division and a WWE restaurant would've been cool tbh should restart that again I feel like
The Jinder Mahal experiment wasn't the first time WWE tried to break into the wrestling market in India. A few years earlier, Vince put the WWE championship on Great Khali for the same reason with similar results. By the time Khali got to WWE, his knees had given out due to his size, and he could barely move around in the ring.
If WWE wants to be successful in india they should focus on marketing Roman & Brock they both have huge fan following here.
I've been to WWF New York, and it wasn't bad
For years I was wondering whatever happened to WWF New York.
I remember as a kid always wanting to go there one day. That or the WCW Nitro Grill if anyone remembers that.
Saturday Morning Slam....Wrestling without any action, & storylines Watered-down even more for children...it only came on twice.🤦🏿♂️💢
I was fine with Mahal as champion. He had a great look, was decent on the mic, and was also alright in the ring. IMO (and I know opinions are like buttholes), he was the victim of some bad booking. Once he became champion, he was still treated like a joke. As soon as he won the title, they should have had him drop the Singh Brothers (violently), and they should have allowed him to destroy a couple of credible mid-card guys. They could (and should) have played him off as a more serious heel. They could have done much more to distance him from his 3MB character, and to make him believable, but they didn't.
Honestly, the Raw Underground thing was cool. It was just poorly executed.
I still want that Mario Bros Cena shirt that was best shirt he's ever had!!!
No it’s not the Rise above hate T shirt is the best for me
NFTs being number one doesn’t surprise me at all. NFTs are a big time scam that corporations are currently pandering towards. WWE would’ve made twice the money of the NFT bundle packages if they just sold the shirt on the WWE Shop.
"NXT kids" reminds me of "Saturday Morning Slam"
Raw Underground Should've definitely made the list lol
Yeah....$1000 was the worst thing. I get the shirt off a Facebook page, except its just the front picture. And that was $20-25
I thought u were going to talk about raw roulette because u showed it at the beginning and it was one of my favorite segments on raw because u didn't know what matches were gonna happen and now a days they hype their matches up way too much in my opinion
IIRC, Stand Up for WWE was tied to one of Linda McMahon's senate campaigns. She was being criticized for various stories WWE had put out over the year, so Vince tried to use Stand Up as a way to counter that. When she lost, there went the campaign.
What was she thinking anyway?
That restaurant looked cool.
I wanted to go to WWF New York so bad as a kid! I always thought wrestlers would go there on the reg lmao 😅
Weird that NFT's were the bridge too far for all the marks that buy John Cena merch.
Cena, whose character is one part Superman, one part bully, and another part merch selling shill could not hock that crap... Beautiful.
Bully where did that come from Super Cena is the goat but bully 😂 john Cena and bully you may be talking about someone else
@@trewilliams8411 You are probably not aware of his rapper phase, a lot of that quick wit put downs and force of personality is still in there when he wants to verbally batter someone.

Personally speaking, I love when WWE gives us insights on life behind the ring. That’s why I enjoyed Total Divas, Swerved, and the 24 documentaries.

The NextVR WWE vids were actually really cool. The only thing they needed to fix was the scale of the wrestlers.
Ok maybe it would've been smart for Vince to explain that he wasn't making a literal junior division. Then again, now I see why Johnny Ace got fired (among other reasons)
Actually I luv Cenas shirt on the photo, was my absolute most favorite shirt he ever weared. Just never had the time to order it. 😂😊
it never was released.
Why did I NOT hear about the XFL in this?
What about "The Brawl For All", a Russo idea where a lot of wrestlers got injured, and WWE ended up with someone winning it that they had no intention of pushing.
It's funny that the Brawl for All actually had the side effect of getting Bat Gunn and Steve Williams over in Japan where they went after. Since Japan's connection between legit MMA and pro wrestling is much tighter they love their shoot fighters and mega tough guys over there so they saw the brawl for All and went "we gotta get ourselves some of them" Dan Severn also went back to Japan too after.
the Brawl for All was just a concept for the wrong pro wrestling culture. in Japan it'd have absolutely worked.
@@Noobie2k7 Dr. Death Steve Williams was already over in Japan before Brawl for All.
Jinder Mahal being wwe champion for 5 months was still one of the most excillerating things ever

That Mario 3 Cena shirt is creepy AF
Linda McMahons two failed bids for the US senate which cost 90 million should be the number 1
Watching WWE in VR was wild, but it was only ever highlights.
Darn, wwe should've kept wwfNewYork. I would have so gone to visit.
7:08 "russo wanted to strip taker of the title for no reason"
Sounds like a russo idea. That's what killed wcw. Someone would win a belt then russo would strip them of it. Felt like it happened countless amount of times. Why he would think thats a cool idea ill never know
They should have known a themed restaurant would be a money pit, Most are. Granted they can do okay in very touristy and openly tackey places, but they're a huge risk. The idea that people going to NYC would want to wait hours for a chance to eat mediocre food and watch wrestling is a little ludacris. Why travel to new york to do something you could do at the local wing place.
Didn't press play yet but the "Brawl For All" is definitely Top 3...
At least that actually had an ending. It may have destroyed the credibility of kayfabe but at least they finished it.
Of course the NFT failed, yet people still love to claim that they’re the future.
