yeah tbh I've never paid very close attention to the lyrics of this song and this cover brings a different affect to the front of the emotional space the song's laying out-I love when a really off-the-wall cover isn't just good on its own but also makes you realize the song being covered is better than you thought it was
SCIENCE was the hardest Incubus album for me to digest and I never really quite clicked with it. That was a lifetime ago. Weirdly enough this cover (and that one dude's comment) was enough to get me to try that album again. And its kinda clickin now! Life is weird. Mac is glocky. The world keeps turning.
Highly recommend this version of one of their popular songs from SCIENCE. It's a blast and a reimagination of the aggressive nature of that album! czcams.com/video/DAuT9lHLzLk/video.html
Dude you are TOO talented. I grew up with this music, music paid for my college, I've managed and worked with bands all over the world since then and you seriously are playing and singing at the top level. Spot on stuff
God damn... the vocals and clean guitar came in and it's like you kidnapped the band and have them in your basement doing covers. I'm gonna be playing this a lot today.
Just when I think you have already mastered Incubus style, you keep getting better! This gave me a major S.C.I.E.N.C.E vibe...was "New Skin" the inspiration by any chance? As always, AMAZING WORK. Love from this lil Incubus fangirl.
Loving the Incubus tracks…so many wonderful styles to pick from. Can’t wait to pick out all the little idiosyncrasies from Brandon, Mikey and Jose. Thank you!! 🤘🏼🤙🏼
Oh my God, you nailed the science album and the Morningview album sound tropes😅 together simultaneously with the favorite song of my junior year of high school!
Are you producing these yourself? Even on my phone it seems so well done. I can hear everything clearly and it feels natural to my ear. The harmonies are distinct and the guitar fits right in perfectly with the drums and vocals.
The original Semi-Charmed Life is pretty perfect as is, but this is an interesting twist on that song. You definitely nailed the Incubus sound. I love what you did with it. Can't wait to hear you do more songs in the style of Incubus, you're so good at them. Maybe "Middle of the Night" by Elley Duhe next?
You are a friggin musical magician, dude. Can't believe how well you pull these off, you are insanely talented and it's clear you always put a ton of work into these mashups. Nice job man, I hope your channel blows up because you definitely deserve the recognition!
You're a great producer! If you want my advice: Work with an equally great video producer. Together the two of you could make fantastic stuff on CZcams.
As a huge fan of both bands. This is simply genius. I've said it before, your instrumentation is perfect Mike, and you nail the Brandon's inflections that make him so recognizable.
It just keeps getting better! I listened to all of your Fantasy Covers from beginning to end and you can really hear your growth. Keep up the great work. Love ALL of this!
New subscriber here. Your most recent videos are a vast improvement over your older ones. The editing is great, the song selection and band mix are perfection! I am really enjoying your content. Keep up the great work!
This is dope! Love the old school Incubus vibe 🤘 Imagine if KoRn wrote ‘You oughta know’ by Alanis Morissette. Feel like that could be a great rendition lyrically. You ROCK man. Keep it up!!
Not often a cover is better than the original but this absolutely DESTROYS it! I heard this on iTunes then listened bk to the original. This is leaps and bounds better. Awesome job 🫡
This is incredible! You absolutely need to find a way to get all of these covers on Spotify or something! I would absolutely put a bunch of these covers in my playlists! 🤘
Rock on!!! This is so good. Imagine if Rage Against the Machine wrote Lovely Day by Bill Withers. The way they both repeat things over and over, it would hit different
I don't normally subscribe, but you deserve it. I have been jamming out at the gym lifting for last two weeks to all the covers ! I would like "Everybody wants to rule the world " made by deftones.
Great cover. you'll see it in the comments here, but when discussing incubus, they are so fluid with their sound you have to discuss it in albums or era's. its crazy how you could redo this cover with incubus and make it sound a dozen different ways. great job with this and picking one style within the band
@@davidpeters6743I always maintain that the bouncier a rock group's song is the more likely it's about drugs, death, or sex. Sometimes a combo of both. One of my favorite Japanese rock bands held true to this formula every single time even though it's not like a legitimate formula.
In the late 90s my band at the time wrote a song called "Fuck You" and all I really recall about it was the alternating Gs (3rd fret of 1st and 6th strings) with C sus2 (3rd fret of2nd and 5th strings) and the overall bubblegum happy bouncy feeling if you didn't manage to catch the lyrics in the chorus. I suspect musicians just find something funny in pairing the two, and even in typing that I had a mental image of a guy singing over overly happy music while over-dramatically crying. Puddles, the sad clown with the golden voice, probably has that locked down already.
I really love your covers or reworks, it's really great work and demonstrates a ton of creativity to really craft a song that emulates the band's inspiration rather than playing a cover of a known song with lyrics from another known piece.
dude you need to be consulted on things.. like if a band is writing a new album they should ask you "does this sound like us? does this honor the fanbase by giving them the style they know and love?"
Mac, this is fantastic. I have a suggestion for you. What if Rob Zombie wrote Jailhouse Rock? I'm talking about the mid to late 90s stuff he did like Great American Nightmare, The One, More Human Than Human, Superbeast, etc. Rob is a huge Elvis fan and I'm sure he would appreciate.
this is a guy who really knows Incubus’ back catalog.
ong this is that old incubus sound
Almost taproot at points too
I was gonna say, this sounds like he's doing *good* incubus.
@@SageSavage brother everything through light grenades is good

hell yeah
Miss Fungus Amongus - SCIENCE-era Incubus.
Def, wasn't expecting the SCIENCE route but so happy and it fits so well.
Make yourself, morning view and crow left of the murder are literall staples in my family..... ill check it out now, cos this slaps
the science era incubus is when incubus was at its greatest
The Incubus style really brings out that "happy but bitter" vibe from the original.

Thats awesome
These Incubus videos have really made me think I should listen to more Incubus.
You should
my favorite album is a crow left of the murder but it's all pretty good
@@evildemonsheep that was their last good album before they changed their entire sound :(
Jesus CHRIST man... this CRUSHES what I had expected it to be. Nailed the Science>Make Yourself transitional sound of Incubus SO well.
Holy shit. Your easy command of Incubus's style while still leaving it recognizable as Third Eye Blind is amazing! You've earned a new sub!
My god this is so perfect. This NEEDS to be available for streaming and downloading
God damn... the vocals and clean guitar came in and it's like you kidnapped the band and have them in your basement doing covers.

What if The Cranberries wrote "Aqueous Transmission" by Incubus?
holy shit this would be brilliant
Dolores O'Riordan might be a bit out of Mac's vocal range, lol.
that's what i was thinking@@swissarmyknight4306
yeah but he can fix that in post, just sing it down an octave and bump it up after.@@swissarmyknight4306
@@swissarmyknight4306 Yeah most elite singers would struggle to faithfully imitate O'Riordan's vocal style.
