We needed some patio furniture to go around a coffee table that we had on our deck. I wanted some stocky, yet sleek-looking, seating that would accommodate a few folks. I ended up designing a chair and a loveseat that fits the bill! With bridle joints for the arms and legs, dados for the side supports, and half-laps for the seat bottom and back, it’ll definitely make for an interesting build that should go together fairly easily. Check out the video and see for yourself!

Hey everyone! Thanks for watching! If you're interested in learning more about the "My Basement Business" course from Jennie and Davis, you can get more info about it here: www.tinyurl.com/startingmbb. Both Jennie and Davis have been personal friends of mine for years now and I can attest to their success. They started with nothing but a dream and have now grown that into a couple profitable companies. Check them out for yourself!
I've been Jeenie and Davis for years. Good hard working folks with gumption and grit.
I really love that drew shares his mistakes at then end. Just to to show someone so creative and talented can still make mistakes, I remember this everytime I mess something up.
Yup one of the many things I love about his videos. Also that very understanding neighbour.
I love the chunky and robust look of the maker.. I mean FURNITURE!! 🥰🥰
Drew, the deck furnishings look great. Anybody would love to relax on your deck. By the way, I'm 55 years old and I have that Sesame street song looping through my head ever since I saw the video. It's been over 40 some years since that has happened; It's going to be a long day...ha, ha, ha. Thank you for the video and all your work.
Haha, sorry!
"Let's take the cushions out, since they are pretty hard to make out of wood". Yea I agree, I find welding a couple of steel plates together usually much easier ;)
Drew, your videos are always great, but I really appreciate your sense of humor!
Glad you like them!
You work like I do - one mistake after an other, but you do it faster.🤓
Nice one, Drew! Made me laugh out loud several times. Pivot!!!!😂 🤣😂 🤣
Glad you enjoyed it
Those chairs turned out lovely! The bridle joints added a very nice detail to the edges. "One of these is not like the other..." had me spitting out my tea in laughter.
Hehe, thanks!
Drew this was the perfect situation to use your dado blade or buy a dado blade
I always enjoy and appreciated when you show your mistakes. We all make them. Acknowledging yours makes those of us less experienced woodworkers feel a little less inept.
These chairs are very cool. I hope to try them one of these days when I get all my others projects caught up. 🙄
Thanks!
I love your humor
Thanks
Drew, I’ve enjoyed your channel for years now. I hope you never get tired of making videos.
Thanks Michael! Still going strong for now
I love the humor but the outtakes on this one were perfect. Sharing your mistakes when cutting the wrong piece makes this project more approachable for me! Thanks Drew!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Pivot Pivot Pivot. Funny stuff. Hahaha. Great build as usual.
First step, remove rounded edges. Last step, add rounded edges. :) Excellent project. Thanks for sharing!
Hah, yup! Thanks, Lynn
Turned out great. While I am truly sorry about the mistakes that required wasting the boards and cutting new ones, it does make me feel a little more human. My last project I took about 30 minutes writing out all my cuts in order so that I could make sure to move the fence as little as possible. I thought very highly of myself and promptly made my first cut 2 inches short.
Haha 😂
I gave it a like, not just because it was an awesome project, but when I yelled pivot you did as well. The barn door being open would have been my other reason for the thumbs up lol.
haha, thanks
Well done Drew!
Thanks!
Mason sure changed since the battery distributor video
Love your content, thanks for sharing
You bet! Thanks!
As always, thanks for the awesome video. I laughed so hard at the "One of these things is not like the other" I have decided to make a sign of that saying and hang it on the wall over my work bench. Thanks again Sir!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it, and love it when you "Help" the neighbor, lol...in fact if I do this, my neighbor to my left has a pile of wood left over from a shed he hasn't built yet, and the neighbor to my right, has patio furniture with cushions, but since they don't ever sit on them, I'll go ahead and take the initiative to help them by removing them, clean them, and then test them out a few years before comparing notes with them to see why they don't sit on them...I'm all about learning and research, it's the least I can do and hey, what are neighbors for, right? Everyone needs good neighbors like us. 😁
Seriously though been following you for years, seeing the kids grow, feel like part of the family, you do very beautiful work, always a thumbs up, love the out takes, and I pray you and the family be safe and well! Greetings from my family to yours, from NC!
That cedar does look Good!
It turned out nice again mother!
You could make a fortune on your outtakes :) Love your projects!
Thanks
It's great seeing a man enjoy a good sit.
Drew I love your clips, you have been a big push in my woodworking endeavor.
Great to hear!
Drew… you are correct. Bridal joints are fun and quick. Especially compared to my one and only visit to a Bridal Shop… the tux fitting was excruciating. The cost was astronomical!
I’ll do bridal joints all day and still feel less stress!
😉
Brilliant as always
Glad you enjoyed it
Don't forget to PIVOT!
That is a nice water fountain
Those outtakes remind me of someone.... Oh, it is me. They remind me of me. I feel like 50% of my projects is fixing the issues that I caused from not thinking.
Enjoying your work! Keep it up!!!
Love your fountain! (Good sound effects; reminds me of something else.)
Love this channel! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoy it!
Amazing job. I just made a chunky patio set but without the jointery. Now I want to burn it and start over. 😂
Haha, glad you enjoyed the video
PIVOT!! I understood that reference
I really love how you show your mistakes it gives me heart not worry about my mistakes anymore I used to get very angry with myself even worse than you but not anymore you made me realize i'm not the only one who makes mistakes. Thanks
Everyone messes up!
just amazing execution and voice over. Love it
Thanks!
Great looking outdoor seats. Nice video. Makes the entire process look easy enough for even me. I have some experience with wood working, but not a lot. I also like easy and uncomplicated.
Right on. Go for it!
@@FishersShop I also liked the foldable table you made for your miter saw. I have a small shed that doubles as a work shop. I need all the space saving builds I can make.
Drew, whenever I see you’ve posted a new video I watch it right away, I always know it will be a highlight of my day! Thanks for being awesome. 🍻
I know it’s been said, but I really love the outtakes that you put in each of your videos. Sometimes it can feel like I really suck at woodworking because I make mistakes all the time, but seeing you make mistakes too, many of them mistakes I have also made, it reminds me that none of us are perfect and we all make mistakes from time to time.
It can be intimidating watching other makers on CZcams because their videos are edited to make it look perfect and easy, but you remind us that we all have room to grow.
Keep up the good work and thanks for the inspiration to keep going!
Excellent project!
Thanks
You are the best !!!
Thanks! :)
Nice build Drew, but I want to suggest you turn the seat bottom over in your plans and next build. As it will be a strong use of the half-lap joints. 11:53 shows the seat runner's half-lap on the bottom side, kind of defeating the joints actual strength. Again nice design and sure you just got caught up in the build. Please keep making your videos with the same humor. Very refreshing.
Congrats on being the first viewer to catch this. Yes, I goofed but realized after the glue dried. As you can see from my original fusion model, I had every intent on doing it right. The plans call out my error and instruct it be done correctly.
Those look fantastic!!
Thanks!
I didn't think I could ever smell a video until now. I love the smell of cedar
Haha it made the whole house smell good.
Buc-ees!
That last mistake Drew deserves a huge gigantic enormous "OH CRAP". Nice chairs and they do look very comfortable , nice job.
Hehe, thanks!
I've worked in college housing for 25 years. Strong vibes of This End Up dorm furniture from the 90s, but vastly improved. Good looking, sturdy pieces. Nice work Drew.
Thanks!
Siiiiiii me encantan tus videos, tus trabajos, te sigo, te felicito, un abrazo desde Chile 🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱
Hahahaha I'd love to see you and your neighbour together. I bet he secretly hates you for stealing all of his wood 🤣😉
As soon as you described what you were going to make I said to myself "uh oh". Not because I thought YOU couldn't do it but because if it were ME I'd have all the problems you showed in the outtakes!! Thanks for making me feel better about my own abilities! Love your builds & videos!
Hehe, thanks!
Very cool Drew!
Thanks! :)
I love your patio furniture projects! Makes me want to build them!
Thanks, Zach! And your vids make me want to build a laser. :D
Great video like always. I like the out take of the water fountain. Lmao 🤣 🤣
😉
Lunch break in work getting my Friday Fisher shop Fix
What could be fun in those video montages of cross cutting on the chop saw would be to have one in which hot dogs are on top of the wood in the cross cut area. Just a sick and twisted thought.
Nothing wrong with the rusty table and dead plant but each to their own 😁
I LOVE your videos, Drew. Even if I wasn't into woodworking, the entertainment value alone is worth the price of admission!! Keep it up, buddy!
Thanks a bunch!
Always a pleasure watching your videos 👍👍👍💕. But you stay away too long
Thanks. Well, most folks don't realize just how much work each of these videos are. 1 a month is all I can do.
The fountain outtake was the best. My wife calls that boy humor...
"One of these pieces is not like the other; you're an idiot and you've gotta make another" I think there's a very marketable T-shirt line in that little ditty. The pieces you're singing to would make a great visual, as well!
Heheh.
Great video, Drew. Amazing how you condensed all that hard work, time, and frustrations into a 17 min video. The project came out looking great. As always, the humour was an added bonus and made the video so much more enjoyable. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really nice job, think I’m gonna have to order the plans
Awesome. Have fun with the build
Great project, Drew. A small tip for the countersink drilling. Doing the countersink first will give you a nice round hole, with the pilot drilled first the countersink will have a faceted hole. It only matters once in a while but does give a clean look when the countersink is in a visible location.
Pivot, pivot, pivot. Loved the reference. 👍👍😂🤣😂🤣
😂
Great video, Drew. Love the little entertaining bits along the way. "One of these things is not like the other ..." had me laughing more than I care to admit. Time for me to head to the shop and add some spare parts to my Onefinity CNC to get my dust collection under control.
Glad you enjoyed it
I'm stealing your jingle for my weekly flub ups Drew. That was gold!
@@FishersShop I'd like to know what kind of sealant he used and how the furniture is looking now.
Another great project and better video. I have always loved how you edit the repetitive operations with the stop-action animation and funky sounds.
Thanks! B- E - A Utiful. Love your videos
Thanks for watching!
I really appreciate the outtakes. Now I don’t feel so bad with the multitude of the ones I make.
Patty O’Furniture, he’s the Irishman I see in the springtime every year.
I just found your channel. Loving your videos, brother!!
Glad you like them!
Nice furniture. 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Awesome job bud. I love Jenny and Davis too! I love how you can take a boring how to video humorous! Great job Drew!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Great video, thank you
Glad you liked it!
PIVOT!! made me chuckle.
Great furniture, Drew. Nice job. I hope your neighbor appreciates all the help you give him. Where's the flat head screw on these? Just don't squeeze your dog too hard. BTW - nice fountain.
Bill
Hehe, thanks Bill
Too awesome Mr Drew Fisher, luv your perspective, and wonderful attitude as well as, attentive to details.
Needless to write, however my conviction is I will try harder to watch your vids sooner.
I also like your outtakes, they're awesome!!!
Glad you like them!
Your a funny guy!! thx
Nice job on the patio furniture Drew! Thanks for sharing the video with us!👍💖😎JP
No problem 👍
I just realized I never dropped a comment. This is some fine porch furniture! Enjoyed the video, buddy.
Thanks 👍
I've had quite the week... what a pleasant surprise when I got your notification! Wish I could watch you every day!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Great build, though I felt there was something missing... It was only on reading the comments that I realised it was the slot screw and unnecessary walnut! Still loving the outtakes Drew. 👍
Maybe next time. :)
Hola! 🖐 This is the very first video of yours I have watched. Great video quality and production and a super awesome build. I will sub just from watching this video. I'll be watching past videos and get caught up to watch new content as it becomes available. Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊
Nice build! The end has me dying 😂😂
😉
Looks good!
Thanks
16:19 You wouldn't like Drew when he's angry!
😂
Great content! Keep it coming.
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome build!
Thanks!
Very cool!
Thanks
I love your videos.. there just aren’t enough 😆
Each one is a tremendous amount of work. Wish I could do more, I simply can't.
@@FishersShop I can’t imagine how long it would take me!! I just love the videos and am grateful they exist. Thank you!
The outtakes give me hope that I'm not as bad as I think I am. I know I am, but it gives me hope 😁
Haha, thanks for watching! And thanks for your continued support
Awesome video brother!
Thanks a bunch!
Great project and video Drew! Gotta love deck season and these will be perfect to enjoy it!
Yup! They've been great so far! Thanks for watching bud
I need neighbors like Drew's...
Awesome project! The bridle joints are a nice touch! And it’s cool that you’re partnering with Jennie & Davis for this!
Good job remembering to Pivot!
And I like the little song in the outtakes!
Thanks! Glad you liked it
I am new to the channel. You had me at "lard bucket"~ I think we will get along well!
THEN, I saw the "PIVOT!" reference and wondered if you were in fact my brother separated at birth. I've missed you so, please ensure my family is taken care of if I pass! lol. Keep up the great work and references, and inheritance....... that's twice as many dots for emphasis, I know you'll get it as we are on a pretty similar wavelength.
:) Welcome aboard, brother
"And just like my dog, if I squeeze hard enough...." I can't breathe.....
