Around the time this would have ran I was in a hospital room and got to watch alot of Pertwee and Tom Baker Doctor Who episodes. I had leukemia and I think dreaming of adventures with Doctor Who helped more than the chemo they were dumping in my system. Yeah I know I would not be here with their meds but my sanity was saved by dreaming of adventures with a Doctor that could not only save people but also took them on adventures through space and time.
This actually sounds like a good idea for a story.

I didn’t realise it then, but my first encounter with him was when he played Superted’s inseparable friend Spotty. More recently I also found out Melvin Hayes featured on the show as Skeleton.

Looking at this again I don't think this was ever intended for the final cut. I think it's just Pertwee making a joke at the end of a take that he knew would never be used. The line is set up for him so he must have had something cheesy to say about the Planet Zanussi being everywhere on the high street or something, and he just got fed up with playing the game. It would be interesting to see the promo in it's released form, I bet he says something completely different in that.
Agree that this was almost certainly an adlib, but I bet it was used.
Jon's natural charisma shone through on that final line. Legend.
As a life long Doctor who fan who has worked in the electrical retail game my entire working life, would I ever have expected to hear Jon as The Doctor, flogging the advantages of extended warranties. Lol.

I’m just gonna assume that this takes place during an unseen story where the Doctor and the Master have swapped brains. In all honesty, the Third Doctor being a corporate shill bugs me even more than the “twist ending,” so he seemed out of character from the get-go. Plus, that Zanussi robot is clearly up to no good, and I can totally see the Master making a deal with it only to be inevitably betrayed and forced to help the Doctor stop it.
...honestly with a few copyrighted names changed I think that could actually work as a story. Granted, I can’t exactly imagine the Delgado Master asking “show us your tits” either... maybe it’s to discredit the Doctor or something, I dunno.

The end came out of nowhere and was pretty funny, you can tell whoever commissioned the film got him to say that as a joke and whole thing was tongue in cheek like a carry on film at the time

The magnificence of her tits breaks their hold on him and finally triggers the regeneration. He staggers back to the TARDIS and makes it back to UNIT HQ just in time to become Tom Baker. Woman in video is Diana Weston - the mum in ‘The Upper Hand’ sitcom. Not “a famous page three model” as some are commenting here. The joke was not ad-libbed it was part of the script. This would have been used as a corporate training video for white goods retailers most of whose executive boards were male with a certain ribald humour common in those boardrooms that would be unacceptable in the workplace today.

Doctor Who was considered a kid’s show back in the day, right? But this video was meant for a private group of adults, not the general public. It strikes me as more of a Robot Chicken-style “take a beloved childhood character and have him do very adult things for shock value” kind of joke. I didn’t find it funny, but then again most Robot Chicken stuff is pretty hit-or-miss for me.
Hmmm Not exactly. It was first originally an educational show. The scientific reasons and conclusions in each story had to make real world scientific sense. They still do today but they put more "in theory this would make sense" rather than actual scientific sense. So, it was made as an educational show for a young audience, yes. But, it ended up being a 'family' show. I know many people still don't see a difference between a kids show and a family show. For example, Pixar put adult jokes in their films that kids wouldn't understand also mature themes. Disney, makes films specifically targeted for kids so you don't get adult or mature joke and themes (One of the many reason why Star Wars isn't doing so well, they targeted it for kids instead of realizing Star Wars fans range from anywhere between kids and elderly). The only time Doctor who could be considered targeted for kids was during Matt Smith's time, hence why his doctor also acts like a big kid. But even then, Matt's time contained mature themes involving death, suicide, falling for another when one is about to marry and horror elements etc etc I suppose that's what still made it a family show even then.

I've read they want to cancel all Jon Pertwee's doctor who episodes from being shown because of this. But it wasn't mentioned about his Worzel Gummidge or Navy Lark for that matter. People are very prudish and humourless these days. In addition Jon Pertwee would have been acting out a script given to him so it would be much more sensible to cancel Zenussi. There is also a Indian food commercial he did that could be termed racist.
I vaguely recalll that Diane Weston was removed from a schools programme because it emerged that she had done some 'glamour' modelling ie got her kit off for a men's magazine, so I can image she was broad-minded enough to be comfortable with this line

Nah, it's just a desperate attempt to make a boring corporate video a bit less boring. Zanussi did have some reasonably entertaining ads around that time (probably the very same campaign "the Doctor" is talking about here), but there's really no way to make this kind of information more interesting and easier to absorb than "look, you need to know this stuff. If you bother to learn it, it'll help you do your job; If you don't, you might come unstuck. Now here it is, in 3 easy 1-minute chunks. Pause the video between chunks if you need to.".
The I work in retail; We get an awful of lot of "training" videos, most much lower budget than this one, but... the desperate attempts to make them interesting/engaging continue to this day. I usually end up muttering "just shut up and give me a leaflet to read! I'll go through it and make my *own* jokes." =:o/
