next time they do a multi doctor story, i want Sean Pertwee to play the 3rd doctor as a tribute to his father. I'd love to see that.
I would totally enjoy this too.
I was about to say that. Sean for the Third Doctor!
Yes, I would say he'd look the apart for the third doctor.
@@MichaelM28 as the son of the original i doubt Sean Pertwee would allow that to happen.
It would have to be a good script, that was true to the character.
I don’t care what Sean Pertwee says, he’d be PERFECT in his father’s role as the 3rd Doctor.
The chemistry between Pertwee and Nicholas Courtney was awesome.
As well as the chemistry between Pertwee and Roger Delgado or Pertwee and Katy Manning. You can actually see that those people enjoyed their time together.
Happy Birthday to the man that I fell in love with and to Quote him "Courage isn't just a matter of not being frightened, you know. It's being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway."
Love you my beautiful Doctor.
Rachel Wyld I have that quote in the background of my videos :-)
💙💙
@@DoctorWho My Whovian Dream come true
Yes, a great quote many of us can identify with
pertwee 2nd best dr after tom baker.
I got to know Sean when I was body doubling for the character Bullock on Gotham. Sean dressing up as his father was our first ever conversation and the best ice breaker I could have asked for.
First time I saw that image I genuinely thought it was Jon. It took me a moment to figure out why someone had photoshopped the Third Doctor into Bruce Wayne's sitting room.
Sean sounds so much like his dad.
Put a curly wig on his head and he also looks the same.
Sean would have done a great Doctor in memory of his Dad.
You know Like Father Like Son.
I know everyone loves Tom Baker but I personally always had a soft spot for Jon Pertwee. His Doctor was suave, smart, intelligent, and badass all rolled into one great man. The perfect blend of old and new which is also the reason why I loved Peter Capaldi so much. Happy Birthday, Jon.
Nailed it!
Well said!
"Everyone"... Definitely not me.
Jon Pertwee and Patrick Troughton are and always will be my favourite Classic Doctors.
For some reason I started remembering Jon Pertwee yesterday and ended up watching a bunch of his DW episodes. I was startled to find out it's apparently his birthday today.
@Andrewshadowy He was born in 7 July, 1919, which would make this his 100th birthday.
Here I thought I was the only one who thought Pertwee was a badass, suave, smart, intelligent , handsome...oh, you didn't say handsome!😄!
Many years after his death and a century after his birth, Jon Pertwee is still alive in the hearts of Doctor Who fans
and he will be forever
Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor and came into my life just as my mom divorced my dad. It was a time where I needed a good, honest, male influence to look up to. Jon Pertwee was that man for me. I was so glad for him in my life. I wished I could have met him.
A brilliant doctor, especially considering the fact that he was bound to earth.
Well except for the times he went to Metabilis III.
@@garygcrook During his exile, 21% of his adventures took place on other planets. the ninth and tenth doctors were on other planets for 23% of their adventures.
Guessing the exile had an effect on him
@@zacmumblethunder7466 Oh.... Well, The Doctor doesn't follow the rules, so it's not a big surprise🤩🤩🤩🤩
@@rebeccar3079 I love that statistic because when the series was rebooted we were told that we'd be taken all over the universe. Then the production team worked out the budget for that and we were told "You know what, people love the series best when the Doctor is here on Earth with us...."
As an American born in the late 1970s, typically you would think Tom Baker would've been MY Doctor. As it were, thanks to PBS in the mid 1980s, Jon Pertwee was the Doctor, and his episodes were my first exposure to the program. I have been hooked ever since. Thanks, Jon Pertwee, for everything, and Happy Birthday 😁
*Courage isn’t a matter of not being frightened, you know. It’s being afraid and doing what you have to do anyway.*
HOLY CRAP HE LOOKS AND SOUNDS JUST LIKE HIS DAD.
Best Doctor of them all, bar none!
Happy 100th Birthday sir! ❤️
You are my Doctor and I am so happy that Peter Capaldi was inspired by you and got his clothing and hair to resemble yours. You are British icon and to me the best Doctor. You are the Third Doctor and you continued Doctor Who in the most crucial times for it to continue. And we could only see your Doctor on Earth on exile, but it was still the best I could see. I have watched and re-watched your episodes like 100 times over and over again, but I never grow bored. And I am not even British, just Finnish. And that shows just how brilliant you are.
Thank you ❤️
100th Birthday remembrance.
Absolutely love Jon Pertwee, greatly missed. Always will be PROPER Doctor Who in my mind, and he genuinely cared about his fans.
He cared so much that a year before his dead, he participated in a fan-production and that is what makes "Devious'' so special.
The Third Doctor is one of my favourite Doctors thanks to Jon Pertwees amazing performances in the role, the stories are well written & acted which gave the Pertwee era a sense of realism.
Not only that but he promoted the series post cancellation & was the highlight at conventions, I met him once & I explained how watching Third Doctor stories helped me get through a turbulent time with my battle with depression, he took me to one side & spoke to me for 10 minutes & asked how I was doing which I thought was awesome.
We'll never forget Jon because he has left a huge legacy on tv and film that we can watch & enjoy, it's such a shame he never got to record with Big Finish but I find the recent audios with Tim Treloar to be a fitting tribute to one of England's greatest showman.
And Sean Pertwee in Gotham as Alfred is brilliant.
Thank you for sharing a lovely story about a much beloved icon. I hope you are doing well. x x
Ur so lucky to have meet him I was born in 2002 and never got the chance to meet him sadly😩😭
@@ljllob4740 Wonderful man, so charming & friendly, he was genuinely moved by my comments then asked me how I was doing now, not many actors would do that.
Thank you.
It's amazing how much Sean looks like his dad!
And sounds like his dad too!
Sean could actually play the next Doctor.
@@malisafosteroffical Or he could play the 3rd Doctor in a crossover
Sean is a fantastic actor, but it's really wonderful to hear him talk about his father, and that he still knows about the Doctor Who props. He must be asked about playing the Doctor all the time. I do wish he'd play him just once, briefly.
That or a Draconian alien like the ones from the 3rd Doctor Serial 'Frontier in Space' (The Draconians were Jon Pertwee's favourite Aliens in the show).
Jon Pertwee was, and always will be, my Doctor. He looked and sounded, and in fact was, completely and utterly amazing! Still much missed. Long live King Jon!
Jon Pertwee's doctor was a mixture of Sherlock Holmes, Bruce Lee and James Bond. He had great charisma.
I met Jon Pertwee many years ago, shook his hand and got his autograph. I know he'd be proud of his legacy, and that his son is a well-known actor who didn't have to rely on his famous father's name. Happy 100th to him.
I am 60 now and Jon pertwee was my Favorite Doctor who in the 70s Era. the late Jon Pertwee we remember you.
My favorite Jon Pertwee Doctor Who story is Inferno, which is an absolutely terrific story.
Mine too!
That was one of my favorites too. And most of the episodes between him and the Master.
Jon Pertwee is a TOWERING British icon, no question. He's the first Dr Who I remember as a child, and as excellent as Tom Baker undoubtedly was. Jon Pertwee's easy elegance and powerful charisma make him the ultimate Dr Who in my eyes.
R.I.P. The best classic doctor. We love you Jon 💓
unrestricted coconut he died in 1996
Many years ago I met John at a gathering held by the local PBS station when the Sylvester McCoy was introduced to America. He asked what my favorite parts of Doctor who were and I told him Bessie and The Who Mobile. He went on for 20 minutes telling me all about creating them. It was wonderful. He really was a gentleman and a showman.
You can tell how much Sean Pertwee misses his dad :( It would be amazing if Sean were to pick up his fathers baton and became the doctor one day
What a genuine, heartfelt tribute from his son, Sean, and a lovely piece of work from Mathew Sweet.
Just remember, you can do anything if you can reverse the polarity of the neutron flow. 😊❤
@Cheryl Wilson, exactly! Lol.
Pertwee was the best Doctor Who, he has it all.
I agree. I always found Pertwee the most believable in the role.
The more severe approach was effective.
Happy 100th birthday Jon. One of the best doctors
@@MichaelM28 well that's your opinion isn't it
I wouldn't quit watching Dr who for £1,000,000, my favourite TV show.
@@primastico6950 Tbf, He isnt wrong with series 11 being poor . Just look at the viewing figures Chole
@@thelasttimelord7550 I never said the season isn't poor, I just think people shouldn't be called idiots for having a different opinion
@@primastico6950 i understand why your saying that chole but he never mentioned the word idiot or anything relating to the top commnet being a idiot. He was just giving his opinion . Sorry Chole if i offended you
@@thelasttimelord7550 He deleted his comment. It's just a misunderstanding, have a great day
Michael McGrath Series 11 wasn’t as good as a lot of series but there were far worse series in Classic Who, series 24, series 2 and 7 of new Who were pretty similar. And a few others
Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor that I watched growing up. I was born in August 1962 and I was 8. I have watched Doctor Who ever since and still love it. I'm now 61 years old. When I had Doctor who on video my daughter would ask if she could borrow them to watch. I'm proud of the fact that she has enjoyed watching them as well.
Great don't forget him as Worzel Gummidge: brilliant as both characters both from child hood and greatly missed
Jon Pertwee is quoted as saying Worzel was his favourite part - more than Doctor Who. Maybe because it was his role.
I want this man to play The Doctor. He's just as good of an actor as his father. Plus he understands and knows the franchise.
You can really see John in Sean just through those sparkling eyes. He lives on!
Even though he was gone before I was born, Jon Pertwee is absolutely my Doctor ❤️
Sean looks so much like his old man, handsome fella indeed!
Gone but never forgotten, An icon of Doctor Who and much more, he brought so much charm to the role and showed a great love for the show long after he’d left. We love you Jon and always will
Recently got Britbox so I was finally able to watch all of the Third Doctor serials and I really have a better appreciation for him. He's definitely in my top 5 favorite Doctors now.
You can watch the classic Doctor Who shows on the Pluto TV app for free.
R.I.P Jon Pertwee one of my favorite doctors next to Tom Baker and David Tennant.
Michael McGrath 🖕🏻
Jon Pertwee was like the James Bond of Doctors.
I lived in England as a kid from 70 to 74. Jon Pertwee is the reason I still love watching Doctor Who. He will always be "my Doctor".💚
That was just great.
Bless you Sean - your Dad's great
1919 - 2019 Legend
One of the best Doctors ever and such a marvelous actor. RIP Jon Pertwee.
He was an amazing Doctor, in fact my favourite classic Doctor!
I love Jon Pertwee. He's my Doctor. Happy extremely belated birthday, Doctor.
Happy Birthday Jon Pertwee. What a wonderful Dr. So nice to see Sean talk about his dad. Loved Sean on Gotham. We do miss you Jon. One of a kind. Cheers
The golden age of the classics. Pertwee and the unit family. What a legend.
He was an iconic doctor and a wonderful man.
I had the pleasure of bumping into Jon as he was preparing to be interviewed in '94 or '95. He was gracious and charming and I felt honoured to have a moment of his time. I most loved him as Worzel Gummage. (That was such a wonderful series if you were a child of the 70's/80's.). Thanks for making this short tribute.
Still one of my favorite Doctors. They don't make them like that anymore. This interview was a reminder of when Doctor Who was truly special.
Spot on there
I feel honoured to share my Birthday with my favourite Doctor :)
Rest in peace, John.
Happy Birthday.
Thanks guys! :D
Lucky!! Happy Birthday. x x (and many more)
We spent almost $3000 We got all classic Series of the Doctor Who on DVD, and some on Blu Ray. We love the Classic Series
R.I.P John we missed you. Happy birthday.
Unquestionably my favourite Doctor and I'm glad to see he's still remembered
Hi Jon Pertwee was the best Doctor ever 😀👍
As a man I'm a little embarrassed to say it but the end of this video made me want to cry. RIP JON.
I had this dream where I travelled through time in the tardis back to 1973 on one of the sets and took jon pertwee to the current time to show him how far the show has come.
Pertwee was the James bond of Dr who gadgetry and aikido bloody loved him growing up he was my hero and if I'm honest still is.
Fantastic interview and I've always followed Sean's career because I loved his dad so much. I'm 55 so Mr Pertwee will always be "my Doctor".
The real Doctor, now and forever!
Happy 100th Birthday Jon Pertwee ! Long Live the 3rd Doctor.
Jon Pertwee is the only Doctor to this day that I've ever met. Very commanding presence he had and you could tell that he loved his time being the Doctor and that he loved his fans. I met him the one time in 1987. He was dressed in Character if I remember it right.
Jon Pertwee was a great actor and a great man! I shall remember him always!
Well wishes from the USA here. I remember watching PBS as a child in America the episode where Joe leaves, and Jon Pertwee's acting was so moving to me. I remember finding out about his passing soon thereafter and that episode has always stuck with me. My favorite episodes of Dr. Who are the Daemons and the Three Doctors and it is because of Mr. Pertwee. This was such a moving tribute to an incredible man.
Was lucky enough to have met the great man. One of the kindest men I’ve met who always had time for the fans.
A proper gentleman was Jon Pertwee, full of fun and quick witted!!! Loved him in Worzel Gummidge, no one could have played that part any better!!!
my favorite Doctor...he was so talented. I loved him as Worzel Gummage the scarecrow too.
Jon was the best ever Dr Who, by far. Sean is just lovely
I think he would also be incredibly proud of his son and the talented actor he is also!
I was born in 1963 and Jon Pertwee was my all time favourite Doctor Who. He was made for that role and i loved him.
same here maty
Sean PLEASE reprise your father's role as the 3rd Doctor if they ever do a multi-Doctor episode in the future.
He was the first doctor that I watched and will always be my favorite. Yes the new shows are more flashy. But what your father did inspired many people ! That is a great legacy.
I remember going to Bradford & Bingley to open up a child's account with my dad, you'd get your picture taken with Jon Pertwee as Worzel Gummidge if you did, we were next in line and some father and his son barged in front of us, well Mr Pertwee told them to go to the back of the line as we were next, we sat down for a picture that my folks still have and a memory of a lifetime was made. What a true gent.
The resemblance is so striking.
I had the privilege of meeting Sean last year at Tampa MegaCon. What an incredible actor, just like his father, and had the best stories of his father, and his Huguenot ancestry, and how acting has been in his family for over 300 years. Cheers to both father and son!
My favorite Doctor!
The best classic doctor. A phenomenal icon.
My first Doctor and one of my clear favourites. I had the great honour of meeting this legend and shaking his hand when I was a young child. A true legend and icon
I worked with Sean back in 1996 on Bodyguards on the H.M.S Belfast and he was a gent just like his father was.
Jon Pertwee was the first Doctor I watched as a kid. He was so amazing and a brilliant actor. When I finally met him in person at a Doctor Who convention in Indianapolis, he was so kind to me. I told him my name which is Oliver and he recited a passage from Oliver Twist. He gave me an autograph and shook my hand as I thanked him. To me, meeting Jon Pertwee was a dream come true and I will always cherished that moment for years to come. Thank you, Jon. You will always be my Doctor ❤️❤️
Sean has Jon’s smile, amazingly similar.
He seems such a beautiful soul, miss you x
I feel so sad watching this that I just want to hug Sean. Jon was such an amazing and fun actor as well as a true gentleman (and quite spry for his age ;D). Maybe it's time to rewatch his run once again for old times. And who knows, maybe one day Sean can appear in Doctor Who in some capacity. I think that would be wonderful. Happy birthday, Jon!
What a lovely and very touching video. I love the Third Doctor, and the much missed Legend, and very wonderful Jon Pertwee. His son Sean saying about the Whomobile, was pure bliss. Also Postie has just delivered my Season 10 The Collection box set. Just opening and getting ready to spend my Sunday enjoying it's delights.
What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday evening, we hope you enjoy The Collection: Season 10! 💙💙
He was my favourite Doctor but whether he was yours or not surely nobody can deny he had the best voice..
He will always be my Doctor. He was the kindest man in the world, and so loving to the fans... and had a gentle sweet sense of humor. God Bless you Jon, wherever you are.
If they ever bring the 3rd Doctor back like how they did the 1st, I'd love for them to bring Sean Pertwee on to play the role. He's a great actor and he looks so much like his father.
Not only is Jon Pertwee a British Icon, he is an Icon to me, at 66yrs old, it was Dr. Who that made me love British TV, we used to watch Dr. Who on PBS channel 56 in Detroit Happy 100 to my favorite Dr. Who, Jon Pertwee 🥰
I would pay a million dollars for Sean Pertwee to play the 14TH Doctor.
Indeed. Jodie is doing her best, but the scripts.....suck. Hey BBC: People don't want politics in their escapism.....
PianoinFlames: Too pale, male and stale for Chibs and co.
Or he could play the 3rd doctor as a tribute to his dad
@Louise Bunnied Peter Capaldi had appeared twice in universe before becoming The Doctor.
Unfortunately he won't. My grandfarther and i met him a while back and he said its bad luck to take on your parents role in acting
Pertwee and Peter Davidson are my favorite classic doctors, Sean should really grow out his hair and play the 3rd doctor in the next doctor who anniversary special. That would be amazing.
@@MichaelM28 People's tastes are subjective.
For example, I'm fairly sure by Baker you mean Tom Baker, but I'd rate Colin Baker above Tom Baker as the Doctor any day.
I do love the Pertwee Doctor above all classic ones but Troughton, I also think it would be lovely if Sean played the Third in the next anniversary. I don't think it will happen, but we can dream. =)
@@alephnulI I have a soft spot for Colin as he was the first Doctor I got to meet in person.
@@timrob12 I think Colin Baker is a brilliant actor, who did and is still doing a brilliant job as the Doctor. He seems really nice in person, too.
@Michael McGrath You don't seem to know what the word "objectively" means. I don't like the Fourth and Fifth Doctors, and some of the Sixth's stories made me wince, but I still like Six, Seven and Eight a lot more than I like One and Four. It's a very subjective opinion.
@@alephnulI A very kind mind who says what he's thinking, not hiding his thoughts and that also leads to hilarious moments at panels. The one I attend in Antwerp (and which is on CZcams) has Colin waiting way too long for his drink to be served and then when they put his glass finally on the desk his response is: "How nice. An empty glass." He also made a Blake 7 comment at one point, which you only truely get if you know both shows were broadcast around the same time.
The solution to everything is Reversing the polarity of the neutron flow
My favourite Sean Pertwee quote about his father: ‘Camp as Christmas, Hard as Nails’.
Sean sounds and looks so much like his father Jon it's insane you know what would be so amazing if he were to play the 3ird doctor if the program is thinking on bringing back some classic doctors in a multi doctor story.
Thank you for posting this. He was my doctor! Splendid chap!
We do indeed miss him.
A class act never to be repeated.
Jon Pertwee, LEGEND
Be a great 007
Beautiful Man, Sean and very touching about his father Jon.
Can we please have Sean portray 3 in a multi Doctor episode?
His voice is spot on.
He never will. He's said he would never take the place of his Father.
No one can change his mind.
That’s fine but everything fits right. His voice, appearance, similar name pronunciation, everything.
@@KasumiUta oh, that's a shame. But I respect his decision!
@@KasumiUta Last I checked, there was an update where he said he'd do as a one-off thing if the script is really really good.
I loved watching this. I've watched all the special features on all my Who DVDs. I own them all. I love this show. Especially this era. The 3rd Doctor is a bad ass.
