The new Salomon Glide Max TR was a surprise shoe - not only because it was a super soft and cushioned shoe from Salomon, but also because my first pair started squeaking within the first mile of wear. A lot has changed with my second pair and it's quite a fun shoe. Lots of thoughts. What do YOU think?

WE'RE BACK! The last few weeks have been crazy busy with a new film dropping on The North Face channel and Tiger Claw - but I'm back to the grind and have a LOT of reviews to crank out. Let's party! What do you think of the new Salomon Glide Max TR?
Just bought a pair on sale for $130 so we will see. I did not know why there is no gusset on the tongue. That should be a given on running shoes period and I really hope I don't have a squeak. Also got a pair of the Thundercross.
I had the "The Squeak" issue in a pair of Salomon Ultra glide. Check for any air bubbles in the glue between the outsole/midsole. Squeak started after 80km. Salomon did send me a voucher for the retail price to get a replacement online. I bought a different model instead. No problems in that other pair of shoes (yet)

At $120, this sounds so good. If the midsole is holding up better than the Ultraglide and doesn’t drive us nuts squeaking, it could be great. But you’ve got a trust the GR concern. 🤷🏻♂️
Bought a pair in Australia on sale and have done about 20miles so far am loving them and will run them into the ground and buy hopefully a version 2 when out or another v1 cheap till then. If they paired back the upper and thinned and added gusset to the tongue it would be a killer trail race day 50k and up.

Totally agree about feeling like low end model which isn’t cool for price. That tongue is reminiscent of a 90’s bball shoe. It gives the appearance of being wide with midsole flaring out at forefront but toebox feels tight and tapered. Thoroughly disappointed, should have crammed my feet into UG 2 and at least had a responsive midsole with quick laces.
For what it is worth, i have Ultra Glide 2 and Glide Max TR, would always pick the UG2, it's like the Glide Max without extra foam and width at the sides.
The midsole issues that a few ppl are having with this shoe, downgrades this from a try to a why.., great review..
I have a pair of Salomon Ultra Glide and the right one squeaks. We could make a pair.
I now also have a pair of Hoka ATRv6 which only squeak after 30km. Bummer finding that out 30km into a 100km run yesterday
Debating this or Ultra Glide 2 to replace my current Ultra Glide v1. Uses are both road to light trail and some hiking. My Ultra Glide squeak too!
Nice review! There’s something going on with the midsole, since other reviewers have also noted it. Not all, but some. Still, the shoe is solid and the second version probably will be a great shoe!

Would you risk a purchase on these if they were $80? Even if they squeak?
I have a Salomon shaped foot and they fit oh so well. But the clicks and squeaks are irritating.
I’m so in love with North Face and Saucony trail shoes, I never feel the need to try another. Never tried a Salomon ever, and still not tempted!
How do the Glide Max TR compare to Nike Zegama?
My right one started to squeak yesterday. They are 2 months old.
My pair is not squeking. For me the biggest issue is they are too hot.

Man, I have a pair of Altra Timps that squeak sooo bad that I'm pretty sure is the reason my girlfriend broke up with me. Like the slightest movement of the shoe produces the loudest most annoying sound.

That shoe's a dunger, looks like its from the 80s, too heavy.
Salomon is lost in this moment. They are complitely changing their dna. They have big problems with materials, specially midsoles are colapsing after 200 km. In every new model. Here in Europe, decade ago, on every start of a trail race at lest on half of runners feets were Salomons. Now? You can hardly notice them, other brands have taken their places, specially Hoka, Adidas, NB, Dynafit and traditionally La Sportiva and Scarpa. Also many top athletes has left Salomon: Killian Jornet, Stian Angermund, Sara Alonso,...
and the Contragrip is still not good in wet, together with the usually shallower lugs, you can hardly differentiate the need between the shoes. And the new cushion flattens out, I prefer the old shoes, no fancy stuff, but worked (in dry)
