  • This is how to fix flaking peeling and bubbled paint step by step. This is a very common problem particularly on a ceiling. With the addition of using a binder we are able to ensure that the surface is sound and ready for painting which will prevent this from reoccurring in the future. Crommelin aquablock is an awesome product to seal, prime, bind and undercoat a surface which will seal paint cracks, bind chalky residue and glue down peeling paint. similar products are also available by dulux called precision and Zinsser which is called peel stop. Good job mate. I'm a painter and that was spot on. Could definitely tell the ceiling wasn't properly sealed before and sealing before applying any jointing compound is the way to do it so the compound sticks.....Subscribed 👌

I've already painted a big chipped section with sealer and top coat but didnt apply any jointing compound so can still see the lines of varying paint thickness, can I just sand the top coat a bit then apply jointing compound or should I apply sealer again?

Great video. A possible extra tip so this won’t happen again would be to paint the ceiling after all of the repair work with an external paint. This way the steam won’t penetrate and flake the paint so easily in the future and you can wipe the ceiling down easier. It will take longer to dry using an external paint in the house but in wet areas and may not look as good bc it has a sheen to it but will give the ceiling good protection.

The paint on my bathroom walls and ceiling look just like this. I've been reluctant to try anything myself because I've never done anything like this before. Once I start to scrape the paint it's going to take me a few days to get everything done, and I was concerned about the walls looking unfinished during the process. But I figure the walls can't look any worse than they do right now, with the peeling paint everywhere. The walls look like reptile skin in some areas! Thanks for your help Bill. Wish me luck.

I like your straight and honest "day's" work; here in the US of A ... I don't know what we have but have researched it such that what I'm looking for is a binder/glue/sticky stuff. I definately cannot scrape all the paint off the bathroom ceiling and when I paint the ceiling, the ceiling starts to "flake". Probably due to ceiling moisture damage from steam during showers. Anyways.. nice job you're doing.
