    Been using the LG OLED A1 TV as a monitor for my main workstation for almost a year now. Even tho the model I chose is a bit large with 55" (bought it as a TV in the first place) and the A1 is the absolut base model for an LG OLED, its just so awesome to use as your everyday screen. Using a TV and pairing it with fancy zones (in case you're running Windows) gives you so much freedom in the way you dissect your screen and arrange windows. Then on top, the 4k OLED panels just make colorful icons on mostly dark screens in editors and terminals so pleasent to look at. I will definitely look out for a 42" OLED model in case I'm in need of a display in the future.

      Do you also use this C2 for work/office/productivity ?
      I'm personally afraid of burn-in and poor text clarity as I'm working with Photoshop, After FX... around 15 hours a day and I have fixed panels and still images opened at the same position for weeks. I do hesitate between this LG oled 42" C2 and the 32" Gigabyte IPS M32U.
      Could you please give a feedback/your impressions about it ?

    • @Macho_Man_Randy_Savage
      @Macho_Man_Randy_Savage Před rokem +1

      @@exxo7 No. I use the C2 for many things but primarily for Gaming and YT. You have to consider the ABL and auto dimming, pixel layout and text clarity, gloss screen. It will dim with bright/static objects, the text has a pinky outline on white backgrounds and gloss can be an issue in certain lit environments. Burn in I wouldn't not be too concerned with it has many thing built in for it and I'm sure you will be taking some time out during your day =). ASBL can be turned off with a service remote which makes a huge difference to the random auto dimming. But the image clarity and OLED colors and HDR are unmatched vs IPS and the IPS glow. I love it and can overlook these small issues as it's that good but the C2 is primarily made for gaming and content, maybe you should look into the AW QD-OLED 3440x1440 UW which will be better for productivity and I heard it has better text clarity. It would be cool if they came in 38" 3840x1600 size but they don't. But they will cost more as they are "gaming" monitors, like ASUS's version of the C2 panel, the C2 however goes on sale very often...LG just seems to give these things away!

    • @exxo7
      @exxo7 Před rokem

      Well, in fact I'm not a big fan of the latest Alienware, I prefer flat screens over curved and for my use 2160 px is far better (720 px difference with this 1440).
      I'm living in Marseille (France) and the price difference is clearly in favor of the C2 (which I prefer anyway), the M32U is obviously even cheaper.
      Actually I have a 65" oled Panasonic since few years and I really love it. I'm slightly colorblind and I'll admit that I'm more focused in contrast than in "real" colors... and now I'm really used to oled quality and contrast :)
      In the office, I'm using two 24" FHD 120hz VA screens and I wanted to replace them with a bigger one (or add a third one as my main monitor). I have a PS5 in the living room (connected to my oled in HDMI 2.1) but I'm not playing on my PC anymore and I'm not really watching movies in the office... that's why I'm not so sure of the C2 in my case.
      The Gigabyte M32U offers a built-in KVM switch which could be helpfull as I could connect my second PC station with the same keyboard and mouse (and give the screen to a friend).
      The text clarity is far better and there's no need to baby-sit an IPS monitor. Moreover, this M32U is advised by Rtings for 12 different uses (and mainly mine).
      ...but as you said earlier, the contrast is pretty limited compared to an oled. The size is 10" smaller. I could still plug my PS5 on it and enjoy PC games "if I want to restart playing on PC" (well, I haven't touched my PS5 since 6 month now), I could also watch movies on this C2 if my wife is using the Panasonic and my kids my old plasma but if it's happening it'll be very very occasionally.
      (M32U is also advised for PS5 and PC gaming).
      In the end, I'm still lost and couldn't find the perfect screen without spending too much 😅

    • @Macho_Man_Randy_Savage
      @Macho_Man_Randy_Savage Před rokem

      @@exxo7 The AW would have been cool a display few years ago but the resolution is not high enough for me personally and I don't care for curved screens too much, they are way too aggressive these days and matte coating ruin color pop. I gamed on a 28" 4K from late 2014 to 2016 and got on 34" 3440x1440 to a 38" 3840x1600 and never wanted to go 16:9 or lower rez again (I don't care what the PPI calculation say) but my 55" CX convinced me to wait for a 42" 4K OLED as once you experience it you throw away you IPS monitor like I did...I stopped using my "Gaming" IPS monitor for over a year and it sat there only for YT content, until I got the 42" C2. The gloss panel is nice and is a pleasure to look at. To me the text is not an issue. I also find it more that bright enough while retaining deep blacks and not becoming washed out or glowy like IPS panels and why I'm against matte coating on other OLEDs. I love it and will praise it to get more people to experience OLED. But if your main goal is productivity and non gaming/content, then I'm not sure this would be the correct display if you intent to use it for hours a day...on top of ABL/ASBL, text clarity over white backgrounds and potential burn in, when your PC goes to sleep I find unless I turn the C2 on FIRST you most likely will not wake the display and be forced to reboot. This work around 100% works and I'm used to it now but again it's something you don't have to worry about with DP. But OLED is slowly getting bigger and bigger in the PC market and we are stating to see more and more sizes/Hz/models, it can only get better.

    • @exxo7
      @exxo7 Před rokem +1

      I think and I hope that oled is going to invade computer monitor's market really soon ;)
      For now, I'll have to stick with a good old IPS or I'll take the risk of having a beautiful screen which might burn... cruel dilemma ! :D
      Tomorrow in France starts the January sales... I guess I'll choose the one that'll be the best deal ;)
      (...unless there's no particular discount on one of the two screens).

    Me personally, I prefer my 34" Ultrawide for work (I am a software engineer). I tried the 42" C2 and it just felt a little bit big (too high and wide) for my eyes as well as my productivity needs. However, I use it for general media consumption and gaming - IT IS THE BEST FOR GAMING (especially FPS - in particular, COD WZ)

    • @MIchaelSybi
      @MIchaelSybi Před 10 měsíci +1

      I 100% agree. I tested C2 side by side in duplicate mode, and the problem with C2 its pixel density a differs from IPS panel. The diods of IPS have less space between them, hence it's easier to focus on text and small details, whereas C2 has a bit more sparse placed diods (with more black space between them). That's why even cursor looks more defined on IPS. It's not readily apparent, but it's harder to focus on text on C2 than on IPS.
      I use C2 for games and movies, IPS can't match it, but work a good old IPS much more comfortable for eyes. For a couple of hours browsing C2 would suffice, but not for 6-8 hours day work
      C2 has troubles displaying thin black lines, whereas white text and details are easier. So a dark more could be a solution to improve readability

    The C1 does a minor pixel refresh after 4 hours of powered on time when you turn it off...so I usually turn mine off every 4 - 6 hours for approximately 10 - 15 minutes through out the day.
    At the 2000 hr mark, my C1 had me do a major pixel refresh which took longer but I think was less than 1 hour long.
    I use my 48" C1 for approx 15 hrs a day everyday for PC functions, gaming, streaming, etc.
    I am so glad the C1 did not have a 42" version or I would have bought that instead but I love having the larger 48" monitor.

      I got the 48 c1 November last year - sitting @ 4300 hours - I daily drive for work (lots of static content) - But im sure to have a low oled brightness setting for this - switch everything to dark backgrounds - hide the task bar - and be sure to switch it up at least every hour - then at night its gaming and movies - I picked up an extended warranty for mine - but be sure to check it if you get one now - a lot of retailers have updated these to exclude screen burn. Besides that - Its the best upgrade you can do on your pc - paired with a RTX 3080 - I feel like i live in the future.

Turn on OLED Panel Care settings so that Screen Move is on, Adjust Logo Brightness is High, and Care Recommendations is on. They’re a few videos out there debating LG’s C2 42” vs Alienware’s QD. A lot of them recommended the LG’s C2 42”because it’s brighter and it gives you a better immersive state of viewing potential, plus you get a T.v out of it when you just want to kick back from gaming. I own a C2 42” as a monitor which is powered by the RTX 3090 Ti and its flawless. Also recently bought the C2 55” for the Ps5, couldn’t be happier.
