worked at In-N-Out for five years... still my favorite restaurant in the world. Most folks who have worked in the food industry, especially the fast food or high-volume chain restaurants, can tell you horror stories of dubious food handling or using old/stale ingredients to use up the stock. In my time at In-N-Out, I was shocked in the exact opposite way. In the pass one shift, I saw an associate stocking cheese into the fridge under the grills. He accidentally dropped the block as he was loading, and one corner of the block touched the floor. Manager said throw the entire block out. Mind you, the blocks are double plastic wrapped - each stack of 50 or so slices are wrapped, and three stacks are wrapped together to make a block of about 150 slices. Didn't matter. A few associates split the block up to take home, so it didn't go to waste... but it was never going to the customer.
Half of their restaurants score a perfect 100 on their health inspections. And if a store scores lower than a 90 on any health inspection, it's almost guaranteed termination for the shift manager. Regarding food safety and quality, In-N-Out does not f*ck around.

    • @stiltzy1534
      @stiltzy1534 Před rokem +12

That manager... even in the finest hotels and restaurants, straight to jail, right away!
But I get why they did that. In-N-Out has a lot of high praise to live up to, not the manager's own money, set an example, this problem needs goes away now because need to make sure everything else is prepped well because can't do a thing mid-lunch. I hope yall enjoyed and shared some fondue or whatever!

@@The.Original.Potatocakes I'm not gonna say they are life changing or that they are going to be the best burger you ever have, but in terms of fast food, they are probably the best burger out there. The quality and standard of every in n out I've ever been to is just so high. The restaurants are always clean, the employees are always great, the burger will ALWAYS look and taste just as good as the last one. All that and they are actually pretty cheap compared to other fast food chains which is crazy because of how much better they are over every other famous fast food chain. The only downsides are that there is always a line and sometimes it can be ridiculous, the fries aren't everyone's favorite but I don't mind them and I definitely don't go for the fries. Other than that maybe that the burgers are a bit smaller so you can kill one pretty easily but at that point it's just gluttony haha

I was so entertained by this short video. I've been having trouble focusing my attention with anything for the past week because my cat died after 15 yrs. I can't really speak to anyone for more than a minute, can't really read anything for more than a few words and I can't watch anything but for a few minutes. Nothing holds my attention because I'm still grieving.
Except this video, I was able to watch it from beginning to end and it was very comforting. One of the things that make In-N-Out so good is that they have a very "limited" menu. They only make and sell the basics, and that's all you really need - a burger, fries, and soft drink (or shake, if you prefer). They could have introduced a fish sandwich, onion rings, etc. anytime over the past 5 decades and chose not to. That's what makes them special.

Every morning when i wake up i look up Anthony Bourdain's parts unknown and pause it, then move to my kitchen and make a proper breakfast. I take it to my tv and sit down, press play and have the best breakfast ever. Each and every day he makes my breakfast the best way to start the day. His way of story telling has this very honest and real melancholic positivity to it, if that makes any sense. People sometimes ask me "if there was one person you could hang out with for a day, dead or alive, who would it be?" i was never too sure about this but i am now. Anthony would be it without a doubt. The way he doesn't put on a mask when the cameras are rolling and gives his honest opinion is something that is lost amongst the most these days and i find it real refreshing to see someone be so real in these days of faking it till you make it. Rest well Anthony, you are still bringing positive influence to the world even though you're no longer here. I am truely sad about his passing and hope he has found peace.

The first time I had one, I was underwhelmed. It seemed like just a normal hamburger. I think the effect of In-N-Out grows on you over time. I'm somewhat obsessed with In-N-Out now like most people in California. Honestly, if you just have one hamburger from there, it won't be as great as if you had one weekly or something. I've been eating there for years and I swear, I love it more and more with time.
I don't think there can ever be a "best burger in the world," but In-N-Out offers a sophisticated flavor combination that I think is unmatched in the fast food industry. Places like Whataburger and Five Guys can't have a signature style because they let the customer decide too much. Just like a small-menu fine dining restaurant, In-N-Out knows what it does best and doesn't let the customer ruin it for themselves. This consistency lends In-N-Out burgers a character that becomes more pronounced and memorable with each bite. They should hire me to promote this stuff.

I truly think it's kind of like McDonald's burgers for most people. They're comforting, everyone likes them to some degree, but they are not the best. I feel like with In-n-out and whataburger, people get so prideful about their region and truly believe they're great burgers, but it becomes kind of like a cult following even if they're not the best ever. I'm a Texas girl and I LOVE Whataburger with mayo but I will admit..it's not that great. Kind of like how I love and would marry a Big Mac with extra lettuce and sauce lol. I knoooww it's garbage but it's just so good because it's a childhood favorite.
All about that ritual and comfort of fast food. (Though I will say, I truly do not like in-n-out fries since they taste like seaweed and animal style fries were so gross to me! I don't like their secret sauce truly). My absolute favorite burger I've ever had in the entire world is at this nice burger place in my hometown. It's $12 for the burger and fries (gotta buy the drink separately) but it's a delicious, juicy burger with bbq and honey mustard sauce and thick slices of bacon and cheddar cheese. I'm pregnant and I dream about it lol

I would add to that list "tacos de gallena en mole" which is outrageous good. If you're ever in Santa Ana, off Edinger, I believe, or maybe McFadden, don't miss a little greasy spoon called El Picador. Berta, there, makes these amazing tacos for about $1.80 a piece, and they are beyond delicious...

Unfortunately major depression takes away the pleasure of even eating. That's what is so insidious about it. The brain's pleasure center is broken. After enough days of no joy, no pleasure, nothing, people give up. He should have gone on medication, instead, but too late now.

i like the idea that if you ever feel suicidal, just tell yourself to wait 3 days. most suicides happen a few hours after deciding, and it’s a spur of the moment

I grew up in Southern California
    so In-N-Out Burger is basically
    like home cooking to me.
When I was a younger Lad,
    EVERY Thanksgiving evening,
after we all did the family thing,
    I would meet my Friends
at In-N-Out for Burgers and shakes,
and my Mother would say: "You just had Thanksgiving dinner and you going out for Burgers?!"
    Ma, IT'S TRADITION!

I think it's the sheer simplicity of the burger, and their menu in general. It's almost minimalist, but it's done extremely well. Honestly, even as a native, I can't stand the fries, but a Double-Double, animal style, will hit the spot every single time.
