A well renowned chef but still can appreciate with no issues, dish prepared in a fast food chain... Such a humble guy.. May his soul rest in peace.
If only we Filipino can be as down to earth as him.
Meron akong kwento ng isang Filipino na pumasok sa isang sikat na hotel carrying a pail with lots of crab inside..
foreigners saw him and said " You should have put a lid on your pail of crabs because it will climb out".
THE Filipino replied," not to worry my friend i'm sure they won't be able to climb out of that pail".
The foreigner asked "Why? How come your so sure that they won't be able to climb out"?
The Filipino guy simply answered," BECAUSE THESE ARE FILIPINO CRABS".

Have to disagree. Compared to western civilizations and other 3rd world countries, Philippines is up there with down to earth people. Hate to say it, but your analogy pertains more to poor blacks in America. Trust me I’m more than familiar with the crab analogy. Every time I go to the Philippines, it’s actually the Chinese who live there that act high and mighty and look down on others.

I remember the off handed comments he'll make out of random. It was just his perspective. His humor, they way he visions the basics outside the normal. "Off the beaten path", he's the reason if I go somewhere. I don't just the do the basics. I venture out, get a taste of what it's like being somewhere unfamiliar. All at the same time, feeling at home. That was him. He had his struggles, but. No lie, he's the reason I got into traveling. He will most certainly be missed. Thank you sir, for these great experiences. Venture out folks!!
