I think a move that soured his relationship with some players was getting rid of Brandon McManus. He was the longest tenured player and one of the most consistent kickers. They lost the Raiders game because of kicking.
Sean Payton Came to Denver like he walked on volcano rocks got rid of the DC who had the number 1 defense last year for 10 weeks finished 5th in the NFL. He also ripped Tua saying Teddy Bridgewater would take over as quarterback.
When I first saw the score I thought the preseason for NBA had already started. 😂😂 Then I realized it was a football game. I've been watching football for over 30yrs and never saw anyone score that many points in one game.

As a Saints fan, I will always be grateful to Sean for what he did in New Orleans. I'm not saying Payton is overrated, but he had Drew Brees his entire head coaching career. As good as Payton and Belichick may be, having a hall of fame quarterback can sometimes muddy the coaching waters.
In Belichicks case it's pretty clear he is a great coach as his specialty is defense/special teams and the Patriots have pretty much always been in the top of the league whiles he's been head coach. Sire without Brady he doesn't get all those SBs but the Pat's would've still been good. It wasn't long ago that Sean Mcvay and the Rams came in with the best offense in the league and got shut down in the SB just like the greatest show on turf got shut down against Bill's defense.
Peyton is the opposite in that he's an offensive guy and the Broncos offense does look better this year. However Peyton was never in Belickicks or Reids class, and he was never good with getting a defense together so it's not too shocking the Broncos D has regressed (although I'd blame the DC more than Peyton for the Miami game)
As a Falcons fan I respect what Payton did as a HC. But you are correct imo. I feared Drew Brees more than Sean Payton easily
I am also a Saints fan, from New Orleans and will also always be grateful for what Sean Payton did for our city and team. Drew Brees is our all time greatest player, but just like that Sean is a great coach and greatly contributed to Drew Brees' greatness. 3 games does not erase that. Neither does Russell Wilson's Broncos tenure erase what he did in Seattle.

You can't scapegoat a game like that. A game like that somebody has to lose their job. Players have to get benched or cut. That was just beyond embarrassing but as of today nobody has lost their job yet that defensive coordinator has to go on principal
These are grown ass men. They are being paid immense amounts of money to play a game. Out of that defense there are maybe two or three players that will be in the league three years from now. Putting that game on tape with that lack of effort is going to get some of them released and some of those will never play another down in the league.

To be fair that tackling was much worse than junior high level tackling. My Junior high team gave up a total of 14 points in a total of two years and one year we were unscored upon the entire year. We would do full contact tackling drills for at least 45 minutes four days a week during our 3 hour practices. There's no excuse for giving up 70 points in a game...

My Colts gave up on Frank Reich almost immediately last year. He fired our offensive coordinator. Threw his ass under the bus to save his. Couple weeks later, Irsay fired his ass anyway. Panthers were dumb enough to hire him, now they've already quit on him too. Players don't like coaches who aren't accountable and tell them bullshit.

I live in Denver and Payton rubbed a lot of local people and the local press the wrong way with the Hackett comment and how he has been treating the Colorado media. It's hard the gauge the locker room, because of the limited access he allows now, but on the surface it does resemble the Urban Myer fiasco.

This is all too convenient. A historically great defense suddenly can’t play well today and last week? My theory is some of the defense purposely is playing badly to get VJ fired ASAP bc he won’t embrace the defensive scheme from the last few years. I’m all for him being fired. Go look at the replay. There are several players who aren’t playing anywhere near as hard as usual. They’re purposely missing tackles. I think the logic behind their mutiny is, they saw what happened last year when they kept playing hard for a horrible coach and the coach didn’t get fired until the season was down the drain. I think they figure, why not play badly now, get the worst coach fired immediately and give ourselves a chance to make something meaningful out of the season. What do you guys think?
